I'm ignoring the attacks still. The damage they provide I don't feel is necessary with the new merc changes. I'm slotting max defense in the upgrades though.

 

If I were to take an attack I'd take the grenade and slot with the standard kb2kd and recharge.

 

Serum I'm on the fence about. It's better but is it worth my time? Probably but I haven't put a lot of thought into it yet. I will probably 6 slot it though and max recharge.

I'm going to analyze the henchmen proc activations and reassess if they're still worthwhile. Not sure what pet powers are revamped/replaced. Going to rebuild to try to get Serum perma. There's going to be a period of adjustment but it can't be worse than before, right?

I worked this on test a bit and as it stands right now I am adding two slots (for three total) on the Equip (RES) because it seemed to translate to less of them getting zeroed down fast.  I tried with the defense and it wasn't as noticeable with regards to mitigation.  Keep in mind I have all of the RES and DEF procs slotted that I can.  Focus fire was nice.  I had a thematic use of Presence that was in there but now I am pulling out two (I need the slots as well) and swapping in Serum (its a good AV/EB fight aid now that it affects the whole squad).  They were noticeably stronger and survivable on test and in sum, I don't have to gut my build too much.

 

There is some tweaking of course because of certain exemplar benchmarks I have but overall, so excited to get home and play.  The Munitions Mistress is coming for you!

I agree with you to a point. Mainly the mercs attacks are the most skipable.  The big winner, for me, are ninja bow attacks where each adds 3% crit chanceb across the board.  Necro attacks spawning specters are nice, but not sure how helpful they really are yet other than a way to spread threat.

 

So some of them have useful side effects and really don't have a huge slot requirements.

This is what I'm going to be testing shortly. I just didn't manage to get the character up to 50 and figured out before things went live (yes yes I know auto-leveling and such existed on Beta, but I had intentions on actually just keeping this around hopefully so...)

LotG 7.5 and a Def in Tactical, Steadfast 3% and a Basic +Res in Equip seems that should mostly tap out the benefits of both of those abilities for enhancement purposes (values don't go up dramatically). Yes I did take Burst and M30, honestly Burst isn't a bad attack, and M30 will be decent crowd control with access to a FF+Rech Proc, plus both attacks proc out really well. The Mercs should have just about 45% Ranged and AoE defense and 75% Resistance.

 

edit: I did that math without even accounting for Serum on the resistance and just realized it now. Equip with enhancement will hit ~40%, three Res uniques (10/10/15) hit 75%, Serum is stupid bonus I totally forgot about.

I ran this on beta and just respecced into it on live it was murdering stuff on +4/8 as fast as any blaster/corr/brute. 2 titanium in equip and serum. 2 reactive in upgrade. I had to drop m30 nade but its easily put back in if i drop gale. Which i won't 😛 Spamming it just kept stuff down. Need to swap out the ff+rech in lightning storm for a sudden acc its the only thing doing kb now.

I'm not playing as much these days as I was (Steam Deck has me finally churning my backlog of games) but I did log on yesterday and played my old Ninja/Time build (modified version of @Redlynne's 'It's aBOW Time" build).  That has all three bow attacks, all highly procc'd.

 

While my bow attacks remain abysmally bad (Oh lookit, I hit that guy for 45 damage!), the chance to crit mechanic from personal attacks + revised Smoke Flash is really, really noticeable.  I've not seen much yet from the enhanced +Heal and +DEF mechanics, but since I'm already running Destiny Barrier, not much additional +DEF needed outside of hard mode stuff....and we all know most MM's aren't welcome in those anyways.

 

Ninja's were always fun to play, and the changes really seem to have given them some more teeth.

 

Haven't tried my necro yet and I've never been fond of Mercs so won't bother with those.  Still seems like one of the lower tier sets to me.

This is my robotics slotting now. I did try out the Pulse Rifle Burst on life, but unfortunately, Arcane Bolt just out performs it so much that its not even funny. I'm a /traps, so the loss of -regen doesn't affect me at all, and the maintenance drone just let me remove Spirit Ward and swap it right in, slots and all.

I did take one other slot out of Charged Armor, just to get the two piece bonus from Unbreakable Guard in Equip, and now my Assault bot rocks 76% resistance to lethal/psi/cold (Remember Kids, Pets have a 90% resistance cap, like TANKERS!)
 

Battle Drones 6 slots -> 2 Superior Mark of Supremacy, Straight Damage, 2 Call to Arms, the Dam/End, and the Defense Bonus aura for Pets and the Acc/Dam/End  Sovereign RIght Resistance Bonus, Edict of the Master Defense Bonus
 

Equip Bot 2 slots -> Unbreakable Guard Straight Resistance and the +7.5% max HP
 

Protector Bots 6 slots -> 4 Superior Mark of Supremacy (Everything NOT in battle drones, so the Dam/End, Acc/Dam, Acc/End and the End/+resist/+regen Aura, Expedient Reinforcement Resist Aura, and 1 LoTG def/+rech

Maintenance Drone 6 slots -> Full Preventive Medicine set
 

Assault Bot 6 slots -> 4 Superior Command of the Mastermind, the Acc/Dam, Dam/End, Acc/Dam/End/Rech, and the Rech/+AOE def aura, 2 Soulbound Allegiance, the Dam/End, and the BU proc,
 

Upgrade Robot -> level 53 Heal/End Hami-Origin
 

With the additional damage that the Robots do, the current slotting keeps them all good on End even when really low level. I was able to solo the MSR last night on Torchbearer with this character, downing all the Pylons, and actually planting a bomb, so I'm definitely a happy camper.

So a little update.

 

Its solid as hell.

 

The Presence Pool shtick was in fact the better choice than what I used a respec for (additional items from Medicine).  I got Serum in and that's nice.  Not chasing perma on it though.  The +RES and DEF slotting really nice except for the fact that Soldiers are not getting the buff (Bug Post made).  Munitions Mistress is more fun that she used to be which is all I could really ask for.

I don't remember checking the +res buff but Mercs were getting the +def. It's pretty small amount. Around +6.2% ranged and +3.2% AoE def.

The issue was specific to the Soldiers bit getting it at all beyond the baseline.  Spec Ops and Commando were getting it and any additional is nice.  This was the post in the Bug Forum with the data I gathered:

Honestly, I think the vast majority of MM's had just a single EndRedux in their two upgrade powers.  I did also.  Too lazy to do a full respec until Mids is finally updated, I just swapped those out with a Golgi Hami-O (End/Heal) and a Ribosome Hami-O (DmgRes/End) on my Necro/Storm.  I really see no need to move any other slots around as on a Necro all the +Def/+Res aura's were already slotted into the Soul Extraction power and there's not a whole lot more worth slotting there.  I may look to my other MM's to do same treatment as the Dual enhancement power of Hami-O's and their kindred gives you a nice buff without having to do a full respec.

Mids hasn't been updated yet with all the changes so even posting a new build would be hard.

 

And quite honestly aside from using personal attacks to increase crit chance you could just leave your build alone and try it.  The only major thing from respeccing is getting some of the T8 and T9 powers earlier.

So weird. My soldiers seem to get a def buff when slotting a single +def IO, only had a lvl 20 IO in inventory to try out (I haven't respec yet). Hopefully the HC team can figure out why it's not working for you.

I get the original buff which when I started was unslotted.  The problem was after adding slots the other two troop types saw increases commensurate to the addition of additional slots and enhancements but Soldiers stayed flat at the auto slot with no enhancement.  I took screenies of the final numbers but not the progression (or rather absence).  After work today I am gonna yank the SOs from them and screenshot incrementally.
