ill/dark/?

hey gang

im working on a ill/dark dom, havent played doms in a long time so not sure about the slotting - except for recharge for perma-dom.

im playing on mac and cant make coh planner work, so i always find build on the forums that i follow or mix and match.

but since illu is fresh out and theres not that many posts yet i was hoping maybe someone would share their builds?

I'd go with ice. Sleet's -res is great. The slow from both rains is a really good as you don't have an AoE immob like the other sets. You get a +def power for a LoTG. A self heal. And if you want, a panic button in Hibernate.

Or, as you're gonna be doing a lot of -tohit with the Terrify pet and your secondary, you could do dark for some extra damage, -tohit, and an end recovery power.

As a fellow Mac user, I'll have a dig on here for a "how to get mids working on your Mac". There's a video guide (that should really be pinned) which worked for me.

Doesn't really matter as MIDS hasn't been updated for current issue so you can't really build an Ill/anything Dominator in it right now.

 

My suggestion is to look at a number of the Dark/Dark Dom builds (plenty here) and some of the Illusion builds over on the Controller forums and cobble together what you want from those.  

 

Personally, I'm going Ill/Dark/Dark.  END hungry builds, even with perma-dom.

I updated Mids yesterday after the Page 5 Release and Illusion for dominators is not available on the planner yet. For now i would advise to check some Illusion Controllers builds as a reference (even the Illusion set for domi is different) but if you check each power of the Illusion set you can realize what +recharge IO`s you can work with.

 

Im leveling a Ill/Ice domi atm and what you can plan is: 2 sets of Bazilisk (for ST Hold and Mass Hold) + 1 confuse set 10% rech + 1 Pet set 6.25% rech + Pet set 10% rech +1 Pet fear set 6.25% rech + 1 Stun Set 10% rech. Im not taking the ST rooting power. 

For your Assault Powers... well you can check for /dark builds in the forums.

Not sure when it happened, but fairly recently spectral terror started accepting accurate tohitdebuff sets.

So whatever build you settle on consider cloud senses for that power. 

 

~21% aoe tohit debuff (10 targets) is comparable to an enhanced Fearsome stare (~18%) from Dark control (16 targets though).

Spec Terror debuffs for ~35 seconds vs 20seconds.

 

*of note the single target attack/debuff of spectral terror is not an enhanceable tohit debuff (15%)

I'm happy to post this pre-mids having an update.

 

Ill/emp troller was one of my mains on live and also here (I also have a lot of dark toons).  I always wanted an Illusion dom... THANK YOU HOMECOMING!

 

I hope this helps some.  She does not lose a lot of endurance (never loses toggles or have to panic) and had perma dom and perma PA (CD is up when they expire)

Now that mids has been updated can you post your build. The way it is now is hard for me to read. How's the experience with this combo through your leveling process? I like the theme so I want to try it. Thank you for any help and insight you can give me on it also.

Well, Illusion Dominators kinda suck with the non taunting PA. Dark is OK if you go for the ranged powers and stay out of melee which, as I said, sucks, big time. I just deleted both my Ill/Dark and my Mid's build, sorry.
