I’m looking to run an Electric armor hero. I hear that it is great for incarnate/hard mode stuff. Also, I hate having endurance problems haha. Elec Armor seems like a great way to solve that.

All this being said, would you run it on a Tanker or Brute? Tanks seem pretty OP, BUT I’ve dived into some past threads, and it seems like a lot of people say Elec Armor shines on a Brute. I’m wondering what that is.

I’m also curious if anyone has powerset suggestions to pair with it. I was leaning to Katana, Savage Melee, Street Justice, MA or Super Strength! Open to ideas though.

I have run it on both a Brute (DM/Elec) and a Tank (Elec/Rad). Really it comes down to what you want to do and Elec provides nice support either way. I will note that as fantastic as Elec is, Rad Melee was hungry...so very hungy and I do not think that would change regardless of AT.

If you are going Savage I would say Brute so Fury can boost both your damage field and bleed damage. Super Strength could go either way.

How did you like DM with Elec?

Good call out on the DOTS for both Savage and Elec. Nice synergy there.

It just occurred to me: most tanker abilities have a larger AOE… but that isn’t the case for Foot Stomp for some reason, correct? That might be a point for Brutes I guess lol

It was back on Live and well before I ever used set IOs. It was a hidden gem. I wondered at the time, "Why aren't more people playing this combo?" I would even ask that of the few other DM/Elec Brutes I came across and they would shrug and mostly say, " It is our little secret."

No, Foot Stomp does not get the area boost. It is still pretty awesome though. But hey, I run an SS/Bio Brute so....

Haha maybe I’ll have to take a look at that combo as well.

and that IS interesting about Foot Stomp. I guess Tankers are so strong right now, I have to look for reasons to roll a Brute/Scrapper instead 😂

Brute > Scrapper since brutes have a 90% resist cap while scrappers have a 75% cap. The appeal of Electric Armor is the ability to cap resists at 90% to most damage types. Getting to 90% on a brute isn't hard, although it's somewhat easier on a tank. In terms of damage, brutes will be better for ST damage while tanks will be better for AoE (due to larger radii/target caps). I've got a Stone/Elec brute, which is a lot of fun.

Elec/Ice tanker is super fun. Knocking mobs down with ice patch into lightning field, while pummeling them with frost, freezing touch, and frozen aura. Decent damage, lots of mitigation as mobs are sapped/slowed/kd/held and powersinl is a nice top off. I skipped the ice swords on this one to leverage cross punch as well.

It works pretty damn good.

That was my thought as well. Seems like it might be: attack sets with a lot of AOE’s, go Tanker. Sets with more single target stuff, go Brute?

Thanks. This was a toon I played from 1-50 Goldside before moving it over to try it in a solo 1 star ITF. I made it to the 2nd mission with it before my wife yelled at me to shut off the PC and roll out to wherever we were going that day. I ended up quitting the solo ITF and ran through a bunch of blue and red story arcs with it.

I’d call on @Hyperstrike as he has created some pretty crazy Elec armor builds and could weigh in on Brute vs Tanker. He could also probably let you know which attack set would pair better on either archetype.

I personally ran his CEBR (Claws/Elec Brute) and the thing is a blender.

Numbers with one stack of ATO Res.  With Incarnates (Resilient Alpha, no inherent DDR so Ageless Radial and Melee Radial) it's just silly sturdy, with a heal and end management...  Deals out reasonable damage (for a tank) too.  I ran with a 54/8 team last night, three or four missions herding Carnies and was never in danger.  Lack of DDR (when Ageless is on cooldown) keeps it from being Inv, SD or Stone top-tier, but he's just a hoot to play.

Agreed.  You can build some STUPIDLY resilient Resist-based builds (Fire/Elec/etc)

And sure, you're not "unhittable".
So what?

Most of the downsides of that just disappear in a team based environment.

@One IV All, I was chatting with @Ston yesterday and he pointed out how strong Fire Melee currently is on Tankers. @Warboss has said good things about it as well. You should check it out!

I don't play tanks much, but one of my few was Electric Armor / Titan Weapons and felt ridiculously hard to kill, I think he's only been dropped like 3 times since he hit like 20 or something.  I usually play squishier types and he just felt like a rock being pelted with feathers.

I rarely see posts about Elec/Elec.  Do they have good synergy?  Is this pairing better on Brute, Tanker or something else?

Elec/elec would probably be better on a tanker. Easier to hit res caps, wider arc for Jacob's ladder and better AoE. Elec melee doesn't have anything that screams brute to me, but I'm sure if you wanted a brute version you could still make a pretty solid elec/elec brute.

Elec/Elec works well on a Tank.  Lots of experience here.

For Brute, Claws/Elec is just a buzzsaw.
