I'm thinking this should be a good combo but I am in serious need of build help.  Can anybody post a build for this?  I've looked through forums and can't find one.  Not many poison builds can be found at all.  Doesn't seem to be a popular power set.

Posted

I play a Corr ( water)  and Def (DP) for poison. The corr got replaced by the defender which is built for hard mode ITF.  Used near identical values and slotting in the build. For reference... they both easily face tank 54/8 content once the debuffs are applied ( even heavy psi foes like carnies and spider). Use power boost to break alpha strikes and or stealth in drop poison trap.  I found resist + -dmg helped more than high defense . Ageless +debuff resist is pretty vital for tougher foes that strip defense or mess with recharge. Can fit in soul drain if you prefer it, A few things that could be swapped out and moved around for it. Personally never needed soul drain. Used the dark mastery version too. Found power boost pulled more weight for me. Since I'm spoiled by the defender ATOs, could also drop a proc for entropic heal if you find you need a little patching. Highly suggest defense amp from p2w vendor. Getting CC'd can really wreck your day.  I have a trick arrow Corr as well with similar stats and does fine without self healing so should be okay with rad. For anyone that is reading this and curious about -tohit/defense ratio.. countless hours of play, testing and experimenting I found 15-25 is the "sweet spot range" and 30 is on par with  being soft capped.

Wow thank you for this write up.  I'm surprised you didn'tn go for proccing on venemous gas.  It must not be as useful as I imagined.   So do you think Defender is the way to go over corruptor?

Poison is a great powerset however it gets bypassed by a number of people because they might not understand how to get the best leverage out of the set. I would suggest reading @Frosticus's poison guide on the forums. The main take away is that you want to build so you can be in melee range to maximize your debuffs, and also learn how to stack the debuffs by alternating targets as the main debuff of Envenom and Weaken is single target, and the AoE portion is a lesser version of that. So as you alternate casting those.aoills on your targets you'll get the maximum debuff value.

Additionally you'll want endurance to keep working, and mez protection helps you keep your venomous gas debuff active as opposed to be in a suppressed state.

I play multiple high end poison toons across each AT that allows it including a Poison/Rad Defender. There's plenty of ways to build a character but understanding how to leverage it to maximum effect is paramount to enjoying Poison.

In general, procs in toggles only have a chance to go off every 10 seconds.

That and Venomous Gas has a radius of 15 feet, Achilles and Lady Grey for example both have a 3.5ppm rate. When applying the size of the radius and proc rate to the equation you end up with a 21.71% chance of the proc going off every 10 seconds. So yes it works better when saturated by enemies in melee but you end up with little better than 1/5 mobs affected.

I might slot an Achilles proc if I have the spare room, and in one case I chased some set bonuses here if I had plenty of spare slots, but I usually two slot it with two lvl 53 Enzymes as I typically find other powers that make a better proc cannon on a character.

You are most welcome. As mentioned by @SeraphimKensai one of the great things about poison ( and this game in general) is that there are many different ways to build a character and they all work! I love seeing builds and play styles that are so different than my own and the creative approach behind it. If you want to roll Corr , then go with Corr. Poison is a pretty lethal set and is great at making everything hit like wet noodles and melt like warm butter. Tougher mobs do get hit with diminished returns(resists) so in many cases the end result isn't too much different with most sets ( some outliers) between corr and defender. On standard difficulty, poison trivializes everything so regardless of the AT you get the same result. If you want the perk of topping off teammates with ATO heal/absorb proc ( roughly 80hp/absorb so it is minor) or rather have scourge ( the better passive over vigilance) is more or less what it comes down to. I went with defender because I enjoyed having the extra support to my team and for the overkill debuffs that would get hit hard by resists in Hard mode ( the aim of the build). Also...dead teammates get puke rez ( great boost to dps for them) and team gets a power boosted vengeance!

The debuff comparison between Corr and Def using identical build (dual pistols not included in chart) via power analyzer on  54 bosses With level shift in a standard mix of radio missions  ( tested on different boss types these were the common averages I got) Troller / MM would be close to the corr range (troller gets a better power boost so might be a smidge higher while MM would be a little lower)

Just to state again... the performance (boss was of zero threat) between the two was identical (due to how lethal poison is even at minimal base.)

For standard content and a blast set with higher base damage / sniper attacks, I would likely go corrupter if the focus is more dps over heal procs.

Oh one last FYI, If you land a power boosted debuff on a boss as main target, and then again as main target hit it with a non boosted debuff before the previous expires, the lower debuff overrides the boosted.

Can someone rise to the challenge and make an updated build please cause I need it.

There's a build in this thread from February. Neither Radiation Blast or Poison have been touched since then. I'd suggest looking at that and updating to suit your preferences yourself.

Why is it that heroes get better buffs than villians?

Heroes do not inherently get better buff values than villains (that used to be true when defenders and tanks were locked to blue side, but since defenders and tanks can be villains now or praetorians, the field is equalized).

Defenders are a Buff/Debuff Primary with a Blast Secondary. Corruptors are a Blast Primary with a Buff/Debuff Secondary.

Take Poison for example, it's debuffs will scale higher on a Defender because it's a primary powersets, as a trade off the damage of it's blast are weaker than if the blast set was in the Primary. That's why Defenders/Corruptors are essentially the inverse of each other (with a little flair scourge and vigilance thrown in).

I always took the Corruptors as being less Defendery than Defenders and less Blastery then Blasters .... more of a hybrid Blaster/Defender than an inverse of a Defender.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

anyone mind taking a look at my buildMass Decade - Corruptor (Radiation Blast - Poison).mbd

  • If you're not going to slot it and you're not using it as a mule, just skip Alkaloid.
  • Take Irradiate instead of Electron Haze.
  • Cyto is wasted in Assault. Just slot an end reduction.
  • Slot a 5th piece of Apocalypse in Proton Volley for the recharge bonus.
  • Tactics needs end reduction. This is where the Cyto should be slotted.
  • Slotting Poison Trap for damage doesn't do much, but %dmg procs work very well. Slotting for hold duration and recharge is also useful. I mix a hold set with 2-3 procs.
  • Replace the scaling resist piece in Scorpion Shield with def/end.
  • Add a 3rd slot to Venomous Gas for more tohit debuff or slot 2x Enzyme.
  • If you're running Tactics, skip Focused Accuracy.
  • Replace the def/rech piece in Weave with def/end, replace the end/rech piece with the scaling resist.
