Dark Melee/?

I've been looking into creating a dark melee character with an unknown secondary and also archetype. I've been leaning Regen but the more I read the more I feel like I should steer clear of Regen. 

 

any thoughts or inputs would be helpful

Is there anything in particular you are looking to get out of this character?  Any themes or concepts you are looking to realize?  My first instinct is to say pair it with a defense-heavy set, since the -tohit would aid that, and it having a heal would pair nicely with an armor set that lacks one.  That being said, you could go the other route and go with something like radiation armor, where you'll have plenty of endurance and healing to work with, and can instead leverage the extra AoEs and +dmg +tohit to maximize your DPS...

The -tohit would certainly help regen with survivability.  I think there are better armor sets to pair with it, but if you are set on regen, then by all means play what makes you happy!

Invulnerability goes great with DM. The heal with the end proc in it along with the -hit shores up problems with INV.

I have a very fun DM/Bio Brute. I imagine it would be even better as a tank. Bio is like Regen except pretty much better as you'll have more layered mitigation and get more damage by debuffing mobs resistances.

Echoing this. I got the idea from here on the forums and went Invuln/Dark Tank. Mine's still only in her 30's, but even so and with minimal slotting, she's pretty tough. I was maintanking the MJ arc comfortably. I can't explain in detail why this combo feels so good, but they do seem to work together nicely. I find the little heal in DM helps balance your other HP oh shit tool (sorry, the name of it escapes me atm lol).

You're referring to Dull Pain.  Not only a great O-$hit tool, but you're so tough you can use it as a buff, for Max HP (a remarkable 3250 every 2-1/2 minutes, or just less than every two, when Hasten is up).

 

If you want a super durable tank, especially once 50 and incarnated (nearly unkillable), Inv/DM is an excellent choice.  The guru of that combo passed away last year, so I made this guy in homage to @Heraclea's original build.  Have never taken him on HM content, but tanks +4/8, with no problem.

I ran a DM/SR Brute to 50 on Live.  Siphon Life is really sweet for an SR character and SR is a very strong secondary.  You'd likely be very pleased with either Inv or SR.
