Dark Dark Dark build example

I just respecced into TP pool.  need to learn to use it.

 

The core of this build is getting a mag 4 stun ( oppressive gloom toggle + dark pit ) as an opening on large mobs then running the AoE chain.  tar patch, soul drain, blackstar   this is the bread and butter for taking out big groups.  you can tank stuff up to and including soloing warworks at beginning of baf on this, way out in front alone.

Interesting build.  My main is a Dark/Dark Defender and I've gone through many different builds over the years.  There are simply too many good powers and too few slots for perfection IMHO.  I do have a problem with so few slots for Moonbeam and Shadow Fall.  They're both terrific powers; one your best single target attack and the other excellent team resistance and defense.  I also cringe when I see a such a build without the Leadership pool.  But I kinda get it....I tried something similar at one point, mostly for soloing.  Personally, I found that Fearsome Stare did the bulk of my work (with fewer slots) and I veered away from Stun altogether dedicating more slots to team buffs and less to AoE damage for my team build.  

 

One major caveat to the above is I've never tried this combo on a Corruptor.  Anyhoo...thanks for the build.

With respect to @Snarky, he tends to make more themed and out of the box builds. In this one, as he says, he leverages the stuns. The stuns are only mag 2 so you'll probably still be getting hit by bosses occasionally. It has almost no defenses so if an enemy even sneezes your way, you'll need to start spamming Twilight. Basically, it is eschewing the typical defense safety net and you'll have to use powers non stop preemptively and probably say a few prayers for your source of safety. It looks like you'd drop Dark Pit, move in for Oppressing, layer in -tohit, desperately take out bosses, heal what you can, hug fluffy like a lifevest.

 

A more common way of building a /dark is going to softcap range defense and getting enough recharge/perma hasten for double Tar Patch and to treat Howling Twilight as a debuff. This is a more comfortable "starting point" that you can then make tweaks to depending on what you desire. This way is also going to be natively tankier and strong rech is great for blasting dps.

I think you missed the first sentence.  Yes, the stuns are Mag 2.  The trick is to Stack them for Mag 4.  Do your Point Blank work.  Then joust out. (and it works)
