Glowman Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Anyone have a good electric melee/shield build they could share? Still sort of new and not great at builds yet. Thanks!

Papaschtroumpf Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Why did you chose Blaze Mastery? Working on a build of my own so trying to learn more.
Papaschtroumpf Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 This is my current plan so far, still learning form the other threads on this build and I'm only lvl20 at the moment. Very similar to MunkinLord, who I used for inspiration (as well as a Darl/Shield build), although I favored some regen over Resistance (no idea if that's the right move to be honest). I wanted powers and bonus sets in ways that I think are more levelling and examplar friendly (for example I hate the idea to wait till lvl47 to get a real travel power although I know some people never take one). The idea is to build as I go with attuned enhancements. At 50, attune the two ATO sets, and replace Crushing impact in Chain Induction with Hecatomb. Some checking/tuning: - I haven't checked against minimum set levels yet. I need to go refresh my memory of the rules of examplaring, especially with attuned enhancements. - I can't figure out how to tell Pine's to show me bonuses at a certain level. it's a balance between getting some of the recharge and some of the defense bonuses. At examplar level 27 I already have 3x 7.5% recharge from the LoTGs alone, so I may rebalance to have more defense bonuses form the sets themselves? Not Sure about One with the Shield, I could take it at 50 instead of Stealth. I don't know if I really need another LoTG in Stealth (it only makes like 1/2s in the recharge time of Shield charge), but Stealth+Superjump makes me completely invisible to most foes which is always useful. MunkiLord Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Why did you chose Blaze Mastery? Working on a build of my own so trying to learn more. I chose Blaze for Fireball and it's added AoE. Melt Armor is a bonus. This is my current plan so far, still learning form the other threads on this build and I'm only lvl20 at the moment. Only reason I took Super Jump at all is because I didn't have any other powers I wanted. I'm perfectly happy using Ninja Run and Combat Jumping, but that's just a personal preference. I took Super Jump much earlier than 49 in my leveling build. As far as regen over resistance, in general I find resistance easier to build up compared to regen. I only really make regen a priority if I can get a lot of it. I don't know if that is the right call or not on my part, so somebody better with regen usage would be better giving a more direct answe. You keep your set bonuses for three levels below the level of the specific enhancements that you have slotted. For attuned I believe the sets have to exist at that level in order for them to work. I Not Sure about One with the Shield, I could take it at 50 instead of Stealth. I don't know if I really need another LoTG in Stealth (it only makes like 1/2s in the recharge time of Shield charge), but Stealth+Superjump makes me completely invisible to most foes which is always useful. The only downside to being invisible is you'll need to make sure AAO doesn't cause aggro. So either stay away from enemies or remember to turn it off then back on. If you really want to be invisible, using Celerity +Stealth in Super Speed will do that for you and only use one power. But if you dislike SS, that's a non starter. Couple notes on the build 1. If you're going to spend the influence to get the Scrapper ATOs, I feel it's worth using a catalyst on all of them once you reach 50 for the better set bonuses. The additonal recharge and defense will open up quite a bit for you to move some sets around. 2. You have more ranged defense than you likely need, and definitely not enough melee defense. Getting melee to the softcap will be easy for you. Using Obliteration IOs in Thunderstrike and Guassian's in Build Up will get you there while keeping your recharge the same. It will also give you more Ranged and AoE defense, so you could look at possibly switching out some other sets for more resist and/or regen if you want. Unless you're doing a ton of Incarnate trials I try to keep my softcapped defenses between 45-46%. With SD having good to great defense debuff resistance, any more than that is wasted in my opinion. Papaschtroumpf Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I love SS. I have SS on all 5 other characters and was thinking about giving superjump a chance, I know I used to love it before there where IOs to pair with SS. I could take TP friend for utility at 50, not that I have anything against One with the Shield Thanks and for the tip on AaO, I haven't got used to thinking of it as a damage/aggro aura. Also I agree somewhere along the way is shirted melee defense. Not good. And yes the intent is to catalyze the ATOs altgouh ibhacent looked at the economics of doing so. On my warshade, my 50 and only other character of consequence, I used merits at 50 to buy ATOs and had enough catalysts drops to do both sets. Here if rather use then as I level up and only catalyze at the end. And also use Hecatomb, the only set I would replace once I get to 50. I like doing TFs so usually I'm not super tight on merits,, although one is always right on merits.
MunkiLord Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 I only use One With the Shield when fighting a tough AV myself. Super Speed is my favorite travel power as well, but Super Jump is what I would consider the best, so I think you'll like it. Overall the build is solid and once you move some things around to softcap melee, it'll be great. The only other advice I'd give is decide sooner rather than later if you're definitely going to use catalyst on those ATOs as the extra defense and recharge gained will allow you to do other things with some of your slots. To be clear, you don't need to attune the ATOs, it's just that if you do it could cause you to tweak multiple other slots. So might as well plan for it now if you can to avoid buying stuff you decide not to use on a future version of your build. The Trevor Project

Papaschtroumpf Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Shinobu, a huge piece of that high resist that caught my eye is from the rune of protection. How is it work for you? Is see it's up for 90s every 200s. I should look at what the difference in recharge means for availability of the heavy hitting powers. You have 15s without Hasten, mine is ready 20s before it expires so I may look for a happy medium. I don't like the idea of taking fly on this character but the rune of protection is an intriguing idea.
Papaschtroumpf Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Actually now that I think about its similar to One With the Shield, although I haven't compared the exact numbers in Pine's. Makes me consider taking OwtS again now that that I realize Rune of Protection also has a crash.
Shinobu Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 Shinobu, a huge piece of that high resist that caught my eye is from the rune of protection. This is a trick I employ more often with blasters/corrs/defenders, but Rune of Protection can be alternated with Hybrid Melee Core (your 6th incarnate slot power) to provide a constant buff to resistance and to status protection. You can't have Rune up all the time, but Hybrid Melee can fill the gap for when Rune is down. It doesn't provide as much resistance but it still provides quite a bit, and for a squishy the more important aspect is the status protection. Alternating both makes you not only tougher but also prevents you from being stunned/held/etc. I decided to try it with shield as well because layered defense is the best way to make yourself tougher, but since I'm playing a scrapper with built-in status resistance, I decided that having Rune up part of the time -- or available to use when I really needed it -- would be enough, because I also like to run Hybrid Assault for maximum damage (I often run Agility for my Alpha for an extra defense boost and endurance discount). I also tried to squeeze in as much psi resistance as I could manage. Anyway the result is very good resistances, softcapped defenses, and yeah probably not as much recharge as I'd like, or as I had before. It's hard to have everything. :P
Papaschtroumpf Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I have a vet lvl30 warshade but i've been neglecting the hybrid slot (the other ones are T3 or T4) so I'm not familiar with it, but I was thinking assault for my scrapper but I like the idea or rune+hybrid on a corruptor and will likely use that on my mine which is likely to be my 3rd 50 ( the scrapper being on its way to be the second one) If both of those provide Mez protection I may even be able to take something else than Clarion for the corruptor. I'm going to stick with my build till 49 and see how it goes. Just got to 35 so I get to play with the big AOEs.

This build isn't bad, but there are several I've seen that I found to be significantly better. This was my first end game build after coming back and I was definitely rusty. Been a while since I played it but if I remember correctly endurance management wasn't very good and my incarnate choices weren't planned at all. These days she is my main market character so I only log for that purpose. She lives on top of the Atlas statue in Atlas Park and uses self destruction every time I log in. The Trevor Project
