This may have been suggested before, but what I'd love to see are some aura options, (combat & normal), which draw some concentric circles and various rays emanating from your character,  which match some standard power ranges, (8', 10', 12', etc), as well as some common cone widths, (30 degrees, 45 degrees, 90 degrees, etc).  Allow it to be colored to the player's preference, and I think it'd be a great tool to help players position their characters to get the maximum impact out of their powers.  Thanks for reading!

Can the game make an effect that the user sees and nobody else does?  If it can,  then im on board.  A couple temporary power toggles from the transact 4 victory vendor that do nothing except for drawing the chosen size shape around the character.

Is there such a thing as "visible only to the player" graphics?  Maybe have them "stealthed" with a high value, since you can still see yourself while stealthed?  I mean, would it be any worse than some of the persistent auras/FX players can already have on them?

I would love some kind of hitbox indicator especially for cones. I feel like this would help alleviate some the stink cones get since most of the time you either have to trial and error or be a geometry wizard to understand their effective range.

Maybe it could work like this : press the button first and indicator shows then press button again to fire the power, but it can quickly get tiresome in long fights...

so how about hold button to show indicator and release to fire the power? Then again i don't know if there is holding button interaction already built-in in coh, maybe it doesn't, given how old it is.

/suppressclosefx 1 shuts off toggle graphics on your character, so it's clearly possible to create graphics with limited display parameters.

If it's a combat aura, activating any power while out of range would activate the aura...

I think having some free (both in terms of influence cost and endurance cost) toggle powers available at the Pay 2 Win vendor would be a great way to implement it. That way anybody could pick up all the ones they want, use them when they're desirable, disregard the ones they have no interest in, and maintain any costume visuals they already enjoy on their characters.

Rather than making them an aura option, put it in the options menu - self only visibility of course. Maybe display the cone/AoE marker while the power is queued and animating, with a .5 second or so afterimage fade out after execution.

Again, visible only to the player. Then once you no longer need/want them you can just turn them back off any time via the menu.

Is "visible only to the player" even a thing, though?

I am looking for the simplest and easiest implementation for this, not necessarily which would be the "pie in the sky" implementation...

Stealth powers. Think about how you can see yourself. Plus as @Luminara noted, there are other ways of suppressing FX on a client-side basis too.

Eh, I see mine as simple since it is just flipping a visibility toggle for cones and AoE's on a single menu option instead of trying to figure out where to put it in the aura costume menu; the latter of which means turning it on or back off requires a visit to the tailor or swapping costumes entirely.

wow this, just wow.

This would slightly modernize coh combat emphasis on slightly.  so it gets my vote.

2 votes if foes also have visible cones/areas we have to manually dodge or take big damage.

So in retrospect i realized that this game already has this function. There are giant robots that launch something at you and giant red indicators appear on the ground to notify you. So this request is theoretically possible with the current game engine. How difficult it would be is another question.

Therefore i would give 3 votes and over 9000+ points to Gryffindor if shields grant cover can be changed to a reverse cone that blocks damage for allies standing behind you (you still take damage tho)

Its easy to criticize a suggestion but can you suggest an alternative?

Will these be dynamically resized? (Please?)

Fistful of Arrows has a 60, 90, or (rarely) 120 foot range depending on which buffs I have running, so knowing how far it'll reach at any given moment would be very helpful for positioning.

Also requesting a reticle update to Targeted AoEs to show radius/plane of effect.  The generic wavy thing's great in general, but I've yet to figure out exactly how big some AoE powers actually are. It's doubly bad for casting AoEs into midair - Rain of Arrows is a circular AoE, not a cylinder.  I don't miss with it very often anymore, but being able to see if I need to shift it up or down would be incredibly useful.
