Hey all.

I've been feeling a desire to do a Brute build with Dual Blades. But... I could really use someone to tell me about the set as I've stayed away from it because of the combination of moves it has in the set, which I really know nothing about.

I've seen it played in game, and it looks.... eloquent. So, saying that, I'd certainly appreciate any input from those of you that know this power well and can explain it to me.... or even just point me too a link that explains it.

Thanks in advance!

I'm no DB expert but I've run the set to 50 before and I find the common opinion that you should just ignore the combo system to be pretty accurate. That's not to say it sucks. You just don't need it for damage.

Of the four combos, I only found Empower and Sweep to be really useful. Empower for its buffs and Sweep for its PBAoE soft control. On a Brute, you may not need Empower at all since you'll have Fury but I've never crunched the numbers so the impact may be more significant than I realized.

You wanna play Peacebringer?😒  Fine, but at least check out this guide first: Peacebringers STILL SUCK!!! (v. 1.1)

Despite being an orange circle set, DB's combos are not impactful. They are toys to play with but high end optimization ignores them.

DB is a followup set (like claws), with all the strengths and weaknesses that entails. Like most lethal sets, it can fit double -res procs. This is why it tends to shine in pylon tests, although in "real world" situations it's not bad, either.

The 3 strongest attacks are ablative strike, blinding feint (followup), and sweeping strike. In addition to these nearly all toons will take the PBAoE. 1k cuts is a matter of taste. Some people swear by it, others pass. I personally prefer epic aoes which are much stronger.

Historically, the best attack chain was BF AS SS AS. With current technology it is possible at extreme levels of rech to do BF AS SS which is a slight gain (significant gain if SS hits > 1 target). I remain unconvinced the required build compromises are worth it.

As other have eluded to, think on the combo's as "optional bonuses".  Play it then as you will.  As you grow into playing the set, you may start to get a feel of when you can or should use some combos but also keep in mind that most builds on most toons that also try to make their toon effective, do not take all attacks.  Given then that various attacks in DB require chaining specific attacks in order, this means inevitably some bonus combos are not going to happen.

So level to 50 a DB then decide whether its something to play more or park.... ie just enjoy the journey.

Dual Blades is better on a scrapper. Not saying you can't run it on a brute, stalker or tank... but it is best on a scrapper.
