Nightstrider Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 A friend and I want to create a duo to play with one having a fire theme and the other ice. Any suggestions for AT's? We plan on doing all PVE content including TFs and while they don't need to be min/max, would like to be able to roll through whatever is thrown at us.

Well, do you 2 want to be somewhat dependent on each other, or independent and simply working side-by-side? If you want the former, maybe something like a fire/thermal corruptor and an ice/ice tanker. If the latter, maybe an ice/ice and fire/fire sentinel.
Ph1ushot Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 I am thinking a Ice/Fire Tanker and a Fire/Cold Corrupter (or Controller if that's your fancy). The Cold shields will shore up the Tanker's defense nicely and Ice Tanks hold agro like none other. Both offensive sets are solid. and the /Cold brings lovely debuffs for the hard targets when needed.
PyroNugget Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 do they have to be same/same theme? like fire/fire etc? --if so fire/fire tank with ice /cold corrupter --tank has burn! can self heal corr buff and debuff very synergistic combo 2. ice/ice tank with fire/thermal corrupter (ice tank can sustain recovery with absorb,would benefit from the RES buffs and heals/ corr heal also effects self and has nice debuffs late) if they can combo then fire armor/ice melee tank is one of the great combos with burn+ice patch add in the DMG from a fire primary and the cold debuffs--this would be a strong duo another option is shield tank with the ice elemental shield---looks like an ice tank from the costume alone but gives another option and pairs well with ice melee and if you want to play a little more dangerously ice/ice scrapper!(or shield /ice combo would work too and scrapper shield has an agro aura)

PyroNugget Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 (edited) the tank/corr duo is a known entity,its very efficient and checks alot of boxes of whats needed to advance. but lets be real,this is an easy game to play, any combo of duos would work as long as they dont naturally conflict like say an area sleep user paired with a melee dmg aura. brutes can be built tough,though i would still pair it with a corr or defender to help with those defenses(def based armor with cold,resist based armor with thermal) i mean theres a reason fire brutes are the #1 farming type in the game. and could be subbed in for the tank without a problem. the biggest component is ,in my opinion, the ability to DEBUFF/buff-- once sustainability is reached with armor/heals/end usage--- debuffs are the way to go. either by stopping regen so you can take down giant monsters or by reducing thier resist to overcome that regen(ideally a combination of both!) Doms are almost thier own thing,i love em, but they still pair better with corrs and defenders, they can lock down the world, but have no armor and benefit from the same buffs/debuffs the brutes/tanks would. i.e. a dom would take the place of that in the team.also perma DOM is nearly a 100% requirement as it gives mez protection and the ability to oneshot hold bosses= life or death. tl:dr the tank/corr combo will take you both farther /easier in game.(EDIT) but anything will work Edited September 3, 2023 by PyroNugget

I can solo on the casual on +3/x8 with my Scrapper, so a Brute or Scrapper will work just fine. An Ice/ice Brute and Fire/thermal Corr or Thermal/fire Defender would blow through content. You do want the melee AT to be Def based as Debuffs will impact a Res based one more. A support character will likely get enough Def via IOs and power picks to make it work. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. I look at it like this: Since you are playing a duo, you want a more generalized pool of abilities to draw from. To that end, you want damage, buffs/debuffs, and a way to keep the enemies' attention. Defenders have the greatest buff/debuff values, but lose some damage as a result. A corruptor is in a sweet spot, having a bit more damage while still retaining good buff/debuff values. A brute can certainly fill the role of keeping the enemies' attention while dealing good damage, but their inherent, (fury), also means that you want to keep moving and fighting, which may make you reckless and less strategic/more likely to get in over your head. A tanker has better defensive values and aggro-management abilities, so they're the safer option. I tend to prefer controllers over dominators, since they have controls and buffs/debuffs, rather than more attacks, but that's just me. A controller/brute could fair quite nicely so long as the controller knows who to lock down, where best to apply their buffs/debuffs, and the brute goes after the "problem" enemies first.

Ice/Thermal & Fire/Cold. You both got shields & debuffs to give & some heals and lots of damage. 2
Doomguide2005 Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Keep in mind considering a duo between a Corruptor vs Defender choice the Defender is also looking at a perma +20% damage boost to help with their damage output owing to team size along with generally stronger buff/debuff values to close, eliminate or surpass any damage advantage Corruptors may have.
Nightstrider Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 Updating this thread.... We went with Fire/Ice Tanker and Fire/Cold Corrupter and they are at lvl 40 now. Endurance is killing both of us right now. Anyone have a end game build for each? Cost isn't an issue. Thanks! 1

Heat loss should be up more than half the time with basic slotting and hasten, and the fire tank sounds have Consume, though admittedly that isn't up very often. What this team needs is more Defenders

This ^ Once Heat Loss is decently slotted any endurance issues should be long gone. It is possible to make the Recovery portion perma but practically speaking it does not require it, you just need enough so you can't burn through your blue bar before it's ready again.

Are you using IOs? Cold Domination comes with Heat Loss. Fire Armor comes with Consume. That said, look into getting Panacea Proc and Miracle Proc for both of you in Health, Performance Shifter Proc with the Performance Shifter End Mod in Stamina.
