falkor313 Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Subject says it all. The KD in the Superior version of the Avalanche: KD enh becomes KB of significant Mag (at least 5). Makes it very hard to control crowds in group settings and delays progress. Could this be brought back down to .67? This is on an SS/Fire Brute when using Burn. Damage bonus doesn't affect it. Haven't tried the non-superior version.

Shinobu Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Knockdown and Knockback are the SAME THING I don't mean they have the same effect, but Knockback is just too much knockdown. If you combine two types of knockdown, they turn into knockback. The Knockback to Knockdown IO works by reducing the severity of Knockdown. I've seen Leo explain this before, so I can't remember the specifics, but this is a hard fact of how the game works. It's not up for debate. If Knockback happens at (for example, I'm making up a number here) mag 10 knockdown, then anything under mag 10 would be knockdown, and anything over it would be knockback. If, for example, you have two auras and were able to slot a knockdown IO in each, they would frequently hit at the same time and that would knock your enemy back instead of just knocking them down. Or maybe you have an attack that does knockdown, but your Avalanche proc in your aura goes off at the same time, and the enemy is knocked back. This is something I've seen before, and the first few times I was really confused why it was happening, until the mechanic was explained to me. What's going on with Burn I'm not sure because I don't know that burn contains any knockdown, but I noticed this same problem a while ago and the solution is to slot your Superior Avalanche in your Fiery Aura, and slot whatever is in Fiery Aura in Burn, and call it good.
Bionic_Flea Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Copied from the other thread: The proc is stacking the knockdown on itself. Burn is not a one time thing. It's one up front damage and 13 tics. The Proc can go off on any tic so those KDs add up into KB. It's visually pretty funny because they don't just fall down or have a ragdoll. They get launched like a missile at about 45 degrees. Bottom line: proc is working fine, it just doesn't play well with burn. Get some cheap unslotters and move that set to another PBAoE that doesn't have KB (eg. Fire Sword Circle = good, Foot Stomp = bad). Slot your burn with another set that has a damage proc. Even better if you can fit two or three damage procs in there.
artphobia Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Yea I've had issues where KD becomes KB after a respec. THough sometime it feels like it fixes itself after a relog or such. Has a toon of EVERY prim/sec combination(2062)
