My way or the Melee! Embarking on the path of the Fire/Earth/Fire.

As the eponymous title suggests; I'm seriously considering my first (and only) melee Dominator. After careful review of the sets, it soon became apparent that Earth Assault was liable to be my choice. With a whopping 6 powers that are either PBAoE or Melee in nature and from what I've read; a satisfactory "thud" with every attack. The choice of Primary Power set was a little more dicey and difficult. I had considered Dark (for the PBAoE disorient and nice AoE Hold) and Electric (Figured Conductive Aura would solve any End woes) but ultimately settled on Fire for Hot Feet, the PBAoE Hold and theme (going for a Koth of the Hammer-esque character for those in the MTG know).

With that catharsis out of the way I was hoping to pitch some questions to the Dom field as it relates to this pairing.

First and foremost... Hot Feet. It's looking like a toggle that requires copious amounts of endurance for what appears to be minor DoT, -movement and fear? If I were to get mezzed, would the power detoggle? Does it help prevent or mitigate damage or is it a taunt-like power that attracts mob attention? Anything specific I should know while using it?

Now here's what kinda tickles my whiskers, Mud Pots. Is it a Hot Feet clone? Is it even worthwhile to run it along side Hot Feet. Or, should I just pick one or the other? It looks like they do similar things but maybe the 2 combined is epic enough to warrant to prohibitive endurance costs? The geek in me wants to run both but I realize this is... greedy. Anyone here have experience running both?

Bonfire: From what I've read; I'll really want to find a -KB proc for this? Do you slot this thing for damage at all?

Smoke: I had planned on running Super Speed w/the stealth IO proc.

I actually have this exact same idea and am super excited to try it out.  Instead of fire, I am going for Elec/stone because the toggle aura of elec is very nice and should solve some of the issues with endurance.

I can post my untested build if you like.

I had a Fire/Earth Dominator back in the day, haven't done much with recreating her yet, but here's what I can tell ya based on my memory.

Re: Hot Feet.  It will detoggle if you get mezzed.  It's a combination damage aura/mitigation as it causes the enemies to try to run out of the area (albeit very slowly, so it doesn't impede your melee focus).  I took it and slotted it for damage and EndRed, and it was pretty great.

Re: Mud Pots.  On paper, it looks like it stacks with Hot Feet in a potentially awesome way.  In practice, it's got a much, much smaller radius that enemies will clear out of much more quickly than Hot Feet, and deals lower damage anyway.  It could have been a cool combination, but I recommend skipping it.

Re: Bonfire. Can't say much about this one because I never got to try it with KB-to-KD back in the day, so I just skipped it.  In theory, it looks like it's basically ranged Burn now, if you slot it properly, and that sounds pretty fun.

Re: Smoke.  I liked it because while it's not exceptionally strong, it works good "out of the box".  It's worth taking just to have a power that doesn't need heavy slotting (which a lot of your powers will need).  I combined it with Stealth instead of SS just for better movement control when stealthing, but that's kinda up to you.  You don't need Smoke + SS + Proc, though.  Any 2 of those three are going to make you as invisible as the game can reasonably make you.

I was inspired by this post and made my first ever dom. Got him to 38 and apart from eating all the endurance and being as resilient as a wet paper bag I'm loving him.

Do you have a build suggestion?

Thanks,

I need to do a level 38 respeca I've made some poor decisions. I'm just going to be using basic io for the time being.

Should I be getting cj accro and/or tough weave?

Here's what I'm rolling with... I wasn't able t reach perma hasten sadly and I still face plant more than I'd care too. I can say it's probably the most exciting & fun white knuckle excitement I've experienced in game. Super fun toon to pilot and when it rolls, it really rolls.

I love /Earth.  I have it paired with Electric/ and it is working very well.  Just hit 26.....and I have found that at least solo, I am not using the chain confuse power at all.  I am opening with Sleep, charge in, do a chain of single target attacks on a Boss/Lt while the end drains from all the mobs, then I let loose with an AoE.  Most the mobs just run closer then go back to sleep.  It feels pretty powerful being in the center of 5-10 mobs being able to AoE with impunity (mostly) and there is very little they can retaliate with because they are either asleep or end drained.  This combo NEEDS to be in the center of as many mobs as it can fit.
