Pretty much always a Bats guy, since long before the rising tide of modern hoopla.

Tough to say, wasn't terribly big on superhero stuff growing up.  I knew of them but didn't play favorite.  I did gravitate toward the DCAU though for cartoons and watched a lot of Teen Titans, Static Shock and Batman Beyond.

These days i'm more influenced by the video games than anything, so it would likely be a toss up between Batman and Spider-Man thanks to Arkham City and PS4 Spider-Man.

Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live.

Kind of a side discussion and I neither want to catch a load of crap nor detail the main question... but DC all the way, for me. It did, and seems, to be far more adult in viewpoint and perspective, and not mired in angsty teen outsider mindset. As much as I enjoyed the best of the MCU, the fundamental difference still seems to be that — playing to great storytelling and concepts vs. assuring 15yos that it's okay to be weird.

Not dissing the latter, and I wouldn't be here if I hadn't been a weird kid among weirdos, but it just left a bad, patronizing, school-counselor taste. Whereas Bruce, Clark, Oliver and even Diana took adult stances on things weighty and trivial, in and out of costume.

I recently rewatched the DC animated stuff across a month or so, and was repeatedly surprised at the truly adult concepts, complications and ambiguity in nearly every story. (I mean, when Supes calls a shopping mall "a temple to greed and consumption"... they ain't playin' to mall rat or Nike culture.)

Growing up it was Spiderman.  Honestly I didn't read a lot of Superhero stuff till High School, I was mostly war comics like Sgt. Rock, The Unknown Soldier, stuff like that.

But Sophomore year, with a comic shop relatively nearby I got hooked on the indies, Judge Dredd, Roachmill, American Flagg, Pirate Corps$, Milk and Cheese and Dark Horse film brands (Aliens, Terminator).  That opened up a lot of doors to superhero experience.

Got older X-Men, all that

But yea, Peter Parker the Amazing Spiderman is my guy.  I enjoy the newer stuff, the alts, Miles and such but Peter, pre fucking up his marriage to MJ is the golden spot for me.
