I've ran Demons, and I've ran Pain, just not together. It should be an extremely sturdy MM. Demons have good resists, and the Ember Demon also gives Ember Shield, along with an AoE Heal. Combined with World of Pain, they should be capped ( using the unique MM IOs). Backed by your Suppress Pain, and your heals, they should be very tanky. Another great synergy they have is the Demons lower Resistance, and your Anguishing Cry ALSO lowers Resistance and Defense. If you take Tough and Murky Cloud, most of your resistances should be capped as well.

I say go for it! It should be one helluva good combo. Oh, be sure to slot the Panacea proc in Suppress Pain as it has a chance to trigger on ALL Allies/Pets when they are within the radius of it.

I dislike the idea of pain dom's world of pain being available at level 24.  for me it cuts off low level play and really hurts stacking of primary and secondary synergy.  "defenseless" pets and melee always ends up being a bad idea.  You gatta ramp up their defenses or stack the shit out of resists to not have them die all the time.

demons are great and resist based secondaries are great

demon/thermal was good to play

demon/sonic was slightly annoying sometimes, having melee pets was a nice plus and the pbaoe based garg was great for the -resist toggle

and demon/ff kinda required level 50+slots/enhancements to feel good

If you are dead set on pain dom just be prepared for lots of dead pets.  the "hurr derr whips and pain im so cool" effect will be put aside by rage induced total pet deaths all the time

This is what damage res numbers will look like at 50 on a Demon/Pain MM. This is with World of Pain and the Ember Demon slotted with +50% res bonus. Sovereign/Expedient/SMoS is slotted for +35% res to everything. Also the MM is equipped with Shield Wall/Reactive Def unqiues.

It will probably play well vs a lot of enemies but the pets will be weaker to E/N/P. Probably find yourself healing harder vs those damage types. Slot the Overwhelming KD proc on the T1 to give them some mitigation. The Demon Prince has some inherent defense (+15% S/L/+10% F/+20% C). Slot the uniques earlier rather than later. All the power picks and IOs needed to help reach those numbers are slottable/obtainable by lvl 27. Shield Wall slottable at 7, I believe the ATOs are slottable at 10 (?), T2 pets at 12, Reactive Def unique at 17, Sovereign at 22, World of Pain at 24, Expedient at 27. Good luck! I'm curious to see how it turns out.

Some people pointed to use Dark Miasma instead of Pain Domination.

I personally do not have the experience of demon/dark.  I will eventually.

But

I do have a necro/dark that is quite survivable due to massive -tohit that i like

However

That requires heavy use of the Teleportation pool.

Teleport Target on your -tohit slotted Dark Servant is massive -tohit all around.  its aura mostly, everything else it does is just gravy.

Team teleport is nice, but cant always use because some players hate it.  Teleporting all your melee based characters around is VERY handy
