So…. My gaming time is limited now.  I am working a lot, and studying German a bit.

I was decomposing…err decompressing after dinner and jumped on a PUG Master Market Crash that formed.  Most of us just naturally fell into a kill most grind.  We were killing fast, high dps team.  We get to the last mission and have the tunnels half cleaned.  And a death.  This Sentinel just went to the end of the map, by themself, and decided to solo Roberts and the hundred or so minions on hand.

in team chat I am like “why….why?   Are you bored, stupid, stoned.   Tell us”

they owned up to being stoned, and offered a defense of trying to speed things up…

i am like “thanks for ruining my limited gaming time. “.  And i quit.  It was a master run and we failed.

then the sentinel sends me a pm about rage quitting…..

so, after these folks fail are we supposed to stick around and help them deal with their emotions?  Or is this one of those home schooled generation Z things?   If it is there are going to be some rough adjustments for these folks in the working world.  Unless they all fail upward into VP desks.

Everything you said up to the age-related jab was pretty funny. Too bad they ruined the 'Master of' run.

yeah, i couldnt think of a gentle way to end it.  and since i am 400+ the snide comments about children come naturally.

but it did leave me wondering.... what the F did this guy think i owed him?  he might be a 60 year old stoner.  but what the heall do i owe an idiot that tries to solo an AV and a giant room on a master run?   uh... other than the snarky comments.  and i think i gave a few of those.  maybe more were needed?

This player sat in front of his computer and had a decision to make.

Do I……

A.  Say something in chat like “I’m running out of time, would it be okay if we picked up the pace?”

or

B.  Say nothing and hope no one notices as I race ahead and clear mobs all by myself.

Decisions, decisions.
You know what, if I choose B they will all marvel at my skill and probably immediately nominate me for “Bestest Player of The Year” award.

Im going with B!

I could share my story about an incidental over-use of some edibles, but I'll just say I'm sorry you had an idiot Sentinel ruin your badge effort.

The idiot Sentinel who lectured you about rage quitting might have been someone old school like me who was always told that quitting a TF is a faux pas. Nowadays, people will quit a tf just as fast as they'll leave an MSR or a radio team. I don't agree with it - but if it's a master run, and it's clear you weren't going to get master, then I get why you quit. I would proceed for the merits and the purple (well - you probably already got the purple on that character) but you're now a busy vampire. Time is more valuable for you than for people who are stoned.

Some people, when called on their bullshit, will not own up to it. Or at the least stay silent.

Instead, they will attempt to assuage the shame they feel by attacking their accuser. Sometimes that attack might carry weight. Other times it might be a desperate reach.

Anyway, you made the right call in my opinion.

Usually when that happens, the lead tends to ask, "Do you want to try again?  Without the idiot?"   Though I did a master run and noticed someone running off to something similar and the lead kicked them before they even engaged their solo kamikaze.

The Pre-emptive Kick.
I've seen it done. This is why I've never led a Master TF. I don't have the reflexes to kick someone at the right time.

The best part about these types of threads is it shows me there are people who are not as skilled as me. This over-inflates my ego, which sorely needs it, given how bad I play sometimes. Like when I'm trying to mash f5 for the break free and hit F6 instead and am screaming "Run!".  So sad to have clumsy fingers.
