kwsapphire Posted August 5 Posted August 5 I realize this is a long shot, but would it be possible to enable an option, perhaps via Null the Gull, to turn off the on-screen VFX from Labyrinth of Fog? I'm referring to the fog effect that applies around the edges of your screen. I would be okay if this option would require ALL VFX to be disabled, including things like Mot, Weather, etc. I've been running Labyrinth of Fog content and the fog effect puts me in a really bad state. I can stand it for about a half hour, but past that I start getting VERY motion sick. By the time I get to an hour, it's so bad I can't even look at my screen; I have to stare at my keyboard and try not to pass out. after leading a Labyrinth league today, I had to take a migraine abortive and lie down for two hours. I still don't feel like I can safely log back into the game. It may be a couple more hours before I'm fully recovered. I'd really like to keep running and leading this content. Please let me disable this effect. 1
SeraphimKensai Posted August 5 Posted August 5 I haven't checked but does /noparticle 1 help? (/no particle 0 to turn them back on). 1

Might want to go into the options menu and turn that on as well. Noparticles and suppress fx when close do different things So I would try both. 1 If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. The NoParticles thing occurred to me this morning so I tried it. It does indeed disable the VFX! It also makes the portals disappear so that's unfortunate, but I'll make a macro to toggle particles on and off. That should resolve it for me. The Suppress FX When Close option didn't appear to do anything for it. Thanks for the thought! 1

I use these macros /macro fx0 "noparticles 1" /macro fx1 "noparticles 0" If you turn the particle back on, the particles will not entirely come back until you zone, but they will come back enough to show some particles like the swirling field around a sg base portal, so you might be able to turn it on and off around the type of "portal" you are looking at and get some of the effects to return and then turn them back off after you use the portal if you desire. I used ++noparticles instead. This lets me toggle on and off with one macro. I already have seven full trays so economy is important. Perhaps I should move all my temp powers to my popmenu! The portals still work even if I can't see them, and thankfully the devs included colored rocks on the platforms so I can still see what color each portal is. I can leave particles off the whole time I'm in the Lab.
PoptartsNinja Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) I have several friends I team with regularly who get severe nausea from these effects (Labrynth of Fog, the Hard Mode LGTF Purple Haze, and the Dark Astoria squiggles). I can't say for sure what the "cause" is (I think it's the constant movement in their peripheral vision). It'd be great if the Homecoming devs could give us the option to turn these effects off. LKN-351 Posted August 6 Posted August 6 This could honestly be a client side mod. Perusing through texture files I've come across some of the 'image' files that make these screen effects... granted I don't remember exactly where I saw them and I'm absolutely sure that I didn't see all of them. Either way, if someone could get the info as to which files specifically are used even someone without artistic skills could replace those files with empty images which would therefore not appear on the edges of the screens. That seems like it would kill two birds with one stone, making the screen effects vanish while also keeping the portal effects intact for those cases outside of the Labrynth. Are you looking for Ultramode style, candy coated enhancements and powers? WELL YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!! (they're also in the City Mod installer)
