Prinny25 Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Hey I'm looking into Savage Melee or War axes what are some good secondary powers to pair with them I'm looking into regen for Savage and shield defense for Battle axes
aethereal Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Regen underperforms. Shield is good. I don't think that either Savage or Battle Axe really demands a particular pairing. Savage has no defensive component so it may be better with a solidly defensively performant armor (which Regen is not), but, I mean, you can broadly just go with concept here, especially if you aren't interested in just wringing every possible ounce of performance out of the game.
Anthraxus Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Beware of severe End drain issues pairing Axe/Shield, as both are capable of draining your reservoir by themselves... when paired they can suck you dry in one power rotation.
Without_Pause Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I have a couple Savage builds so I like the set, but I find it is the weakest on a Scrapper. Assassins' get AS and Savage Leap doesn't break Hide as it is a pet. Brutes get Fury and DoT loves Fury. Tankers get bigger AoEs. It is end friendly so being able to TP into mobs with two powers would be fun on a Savage/shield, but again, I see no reason to not go any other AT at that point. Savage with /ea or /sr would be an absolute buzzsaw. I have a Savage/rad Brute who is fun, but I'm still trying to talk myself into Rad as I simply prefer Def based armors. Axe wants recharge and the end to pull it off. /ea would be the contender for me here, and I don't think it is close. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Emma Strange: Ill/dark Controller. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute. 10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller. "Downtime is for mortals. Debt is temporary. Fame is forever."

Savage Leap doesn't work like Lightning Rod or Shield Charge. At least, it used to didn't, though I haven't messed with it much lately. HC did fix an issue with it in a patch earlier that made it underperform for Stalkers, but as far as I know, it didn't change the basics of the way the power works. 1

I will know more when my own Savage Stalker hits 26. Still, Stalkers get AS in a set which isn't known for a solid ST attack with Hemo being underperforming. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Yomo Kimyata Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Since Savage has a built in endurance discount, I find it matches well with endurance heavy secondaries. Battle Axe goes with anything. Who run Bartertown?

Maybe that's an end-game thing. I don't play the end-game. Regen is fine. The first character I made in Issue 1 was a spines/regen scrapper. The first character I made on Homecoming was the same character with the same power sets. I enjoy playing the character, but I don't get to play them as often as I would like (but that could be said for many of my 100+ characters - "You can't only make a couple dozen"tm) But I go with character conception anyway, so if regen matches your character conception ... go with that. You can always make another character. If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
honoroit Posted August 13 Posted August 13 i'd do... savage melee - bio. aggressive stance battle axe - same as prior, or electric for the recharge 'lightning reflexes'
Elurian Posted August 13 Posted August 13 BA pairs well with bio or stone. Both boost damage and augment BA's solid offensive abilities; stone has 2 damage boosters, one of which is a DoT that can often finish nearly dead foes without having to waste another heavy axe attack. The extra recharge Force Feedback enhancement in knockdown attacks (which BA has a ton of) brings your bio clickies back faster, which is huge defensively. Stone is a solid defense oriented set, soft-cappable by scrappers, with a reasonable amount of regen, HP boost, minor recharge and recovery boosts (both of which BA needs help with); as a set, I like Stone on scrappers best.
