Our regular saturday team often outlevels content due to the "inherent" DXP, especially at lower levels.

This was very noticeable on our last run and we look set to start another soon from level one.

I don't object to DXP per se but it doesn't seem to have had the desired effect in load balancing (or at least significantly) and the DXP is unavoidable as it stands. Can it be made to be optional somehow (like something Null the Gull could offer) for those who want it, while allowing it to be disabled for those who don't?

I don't want to bollix up enjoyment for players who like it but it would be great to have a choice.

I know that exists but I don't always remember in time and I'm  actually quite happy to level at the "normal" pace, which means generally speaking I don't have to.

Disabling (and reenabling) XP is a bit of a PITA and I'd much rather forget about it

I don't discount your experience. I've scratched my head as I try to remember when to turn it off and when to turn it back on so I don't miss contacts. I'm happy either way, but until something changes that's what I can do as a player to mitigate the down side.

When I want to not outlevel stuff on a char, I make frequent use of setting this up "macro XP    option_toggle noxp"

I found it safest to just powerlevel the char to the breakpoints wanted instead of while doing the content I'm working thru.   You don't get distracted by the arc, and then it's an easy run and you don't hit the possibility of ending an arc and getting a full level's worth.  However, just having a button to turn it off and on makes it non-clunky.

What I'd love to see if the ability to set Level goals on a char.   So if you don't want to hit 20, You set an option to not go past 19.  That would let you just not worry about it or try to squeeze up to the line.

Great idea! As usual, I have no idea whether this would be a relatively simple fix for a dev or a prohibitively huge change, but a feature like this would be very handy.

You can turn off XP in the options menu.

I turn off XP quite often to stop from outleveling content.

When I'm on a team when we are all trying to stay at the same level, we all turn off xp if we are trying to avoid outleveling content.

We even turn off xp until another player's character catches up to the level of the other characters on the team.

At this point, I even turn off XP to stop characters from passing certain levels.

I am not making any more 50's, so I am always going to turn off XP at level 49.

I honestly don't play much content above level 35, so I have turned off the XP on a lot of characters at that level or below.

Sometimes at this point I turn off the XP based on how powerful a character should be based on character conception.

Well, it is Indom.

I will honestly say that after playing on all the servers that Indom is the worst /lfg and teaming server of the 5.

Is that all because of the population numbers?

I think that the team experiences I have had on Reunion were far better than on Excelsior.

I can't say that I was ever on a team outside of the DFB on Indom and those were hard to find ... and I think I recruited for them myself.

I only have 3 characters on Indom. I moved one of them off that server because the server was so dead ... a long time ago.

Honestly, I don't even think most players know that it has DXP at this point ... especially new players ...

New players are going to tend to immediately go to the most populated server.

And, I can entirely agree, that DXP isn't really that much of an incentive when you can go to the most populated server and have an easier time of finding a farm to doorsit ... if getting power-leveled to 50 is your thing.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

We have a regular Saturday team (and the occasional casual teaming) on Indom in our little group and it works well and is rewarding. There will usually be about six of us regular players and we'll often pick up a couple of casual guys to fill the team so that is not an issue at all so far as our experience goes. Obviously we'd welcome anyone who wanted to join us but we're pretty solid as things happen and arrange stuff via our discord, so that's not an issue at all.

One of the reasons I like Indom - and this is entirely personal - is that it is low pop. In my eyes, superheroes/villains, metahumans etc whatever you wish to call them should be relatively few and far between, and outnumbered by the villain groups and other ne'er-do-wells of the environments. It gives a bit of extra flavour to that aspect of the game, where the protagonists are the ones under pressure.

Just as a quick interjection, the teaming that I've done on Indom has been great.   I'm more on Everlasting and frankly been a bit antisocial lately, but I see plenty of action in Indom's LFG and they have a good organized group that I've joined a few times mainly for badge & GM hunts.   Maybe it's a time zone issue for Ultra?

Currently 92 chars:   42 on Everlasting, 38 on Excelsior (which was my first server), nine on Indom, two each on Reunion and Torch.  I have been playing more stuff on Indom mainly because of it's lower population.

That's good.

I'm glad you have a good group to game with.

I can't game the weekends.

The times that I have been on Indom, it has been like a wasteland.

Apparently, the low pop isn't stopping you from having a group to team with.

I am the one in my group that has to keep track and making sure everyone turns of and on their xp when they need to.

I agree it isn't the perfect solution.

Perhaps the fix would be to automatically lock xp growth to that of a contact if you have an active mission from a contact.

If course, if this could be done, it would need to be optional.

Even without extra xp gain, I/we would often outlevel contacts because one group I run with tends to run on +2.

I tend to run on +2/1 or +2/2 when I'm solo.

Five years on Indomitable. Main server. Played at all hours. If I want something to be ran, I socialize it in advance and ensure there will be players interested in participating. If not enough people sign up, I'll reschedule. I'll also solo because that's fun. I've participated in PUGs on Indomitable that were great and others that were frustrating and terrible. I try to get the most fun out of the time I do get to play, but that's not always what happens.

Out Ieveling content is not the best. Luckily Ouroboros is there if I miss a story arc.

I haven't done enough PUGs on Reunion & Torch, but that's the experience I've had on Excelsior and Everlasting.   Some great, some bad, though the number of horrific but entertaining seems to be a higher probability on the Es.

That is the very nature of PUGs.

I don't think there would be any difference on any server in most games.

Working as a team is the entire objective and many pugs simply don't. That's been my experience in pretty well every MMO I've played

revisiting this post I'm very happy to see that five individuals have gotten involved in it. That's super encouraging given that is approximately four times the number of actual people on the server itself 🤣
