Generator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Quick refresher: it's got 5 charges, each charge gives about a half level's worth of Patrol XP. Do it early, to jump start yourself? Or hold onto it for later (like your 30s), when you might be in the doldrums and need a boost? Just looking for some opinions on this. Later, Generator
HelenCarnate Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 50. Makes getting those first veteran levels much faster as you can no longer benefit from double xp boosters.
Adeon Hawkwood Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I tend to use them for the last few levels (one charge per level) but saving them until level 50 to speed up Veteran levels is also a good choice. Defender Smash!
Hopeling Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Tangentially related: I used to get 20 stacks of Experienced on every character from vet rewards. Is there a way to get it now, besides the occasional one from super packs, and the 5 from the anniversary event?
WanderingAries Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 The others have a point for "bang for your buck", but I've just been stacking that with the newer 2XP (thanks to @LadyDee for nudging me into it) to boost me through the first dozen powers or so. Extor Prime Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 If you are powerleveling - at 47 (to get to 50 faster) or at 50 (to get to Vet level 3 and craft your first level shift). If you are leveling up normally, then during the "slump levels" of your AT. This depends on the AT, natch.
Erydanus Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I would avoid using it at very low levels but other than that I think whenever you feel you need it. I think I used a charge to push to 24 and respec my Widow. I used another charge one time I got killed several times in a tough mission and wanted the debt erased quickly. Almost forgot to use it at 47! It's also nice to know that it also applies to veteran levels. See me on Excelsior as Eridanus - Whisperkill - Kid Physics - Ranger Wilde - The Hometown Scrapper - Firewatch - and more!
Rylas Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 50. Makes getting those first veteran levels much faster as you can no longer benefit from double xp boosters. Agreed. XP boosters already do quite a bit. Save the patrol XP for when boosters no longer work. Request hi-res icons here. Download the Icon Pack here!

SlimPickens Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Im curious why i dont get this power on all my new characters, I specifically saved it for use at 49-50 on my first few characters made but on my newer alts I just dont have the power at all in my inventory, I dont recall ever buying it from the PTW vendor, and dont see it when i look for it, its supposed to be granted to each character on entry to the city right? Or is it because im skipping the tutorial on my latest alts and you get it from the completion of that zone? Thats the only thing i can think of that im doing differently from the first characters to my recent alts.
Adeon Hawkwood Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 The servers aren't giving it out anymore. Basically there was a period when new characters were given 5 charges on creation but when they implemented the customizable XP rates they stopped giving out Experienced. Defender Smash!
Chance Jackson Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I'd use the charges for levels 47-50. This is what I have done.

Thats the only thing i can think of that im doing differently from the first characters to my recent alts. I was just commenting on this to a group earlier I have quite a few alts and I too have noticed that it no longer shows in my powers on a new character. With how quick it is to get to level 15 I don't even notice it at first but miss it at later levels where I would use it to get through the mid levels. I haven't managed to stick with a character to get into the post 50 levels but it sound like it might of been a good idea to save it for them.
Adeon Hawkwood Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 50. Makes getting those first veteran levels much faster as you can no longer benefit from double xp boosters. What is veteran XP good for? Every veteran level you get some bonus Incarnate stuff, either threads or Empyrean Merits. Defender Smash!

I was wondering what happened as I noticed my alts stopped getting this power. Thanks for clarifying.
Generator Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 OK, that would explain it. The level 7 alt that raised the initial question for me, she's one I created right at the outset, but I haven't done too much with her until very recently.

Rathulfr Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 The free "Experienced" power was an 15th anniversary gift, which lasted for a month after "launch". It's no longer given to all new characters, but probably will return as a similar event reward in the future. @Rathstar Energy/Energy Blaster (50+3) on Everlasting Energy/Temporal Blaster (50+3) on Excelsior Energy/Willpower Sentinel (50+3) on Indomitable Energy/Energy Sentinel (50+1) on Torchbearer
