GaelonCeeslian Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I Almost like the robotic arm choices we get in Icon right now, I just have a few things to mention/slightly complain about: Why do we only get the right arm? I mean, presumably for every hero who get's their right arm amputated, there should be a hero who get's their left arm chomped/melted/burned/removed via various insundry methods and/or reasons. So why to we get only the right arm mechanized? To be completely fair, the shoulders are also a possibility, but that's not my point right now. (also I don't think we can have both arms robotic-ified at the same time) In addition, I would like to have the option of having a robotic arm with all the additional options of the top body types, not just "tight". Why can they not have a jacket or something on, with just their robot arm exposed? I personally think it would be cool to have a trench coat cyborg running around with a katana for almost no reason. Jackets, Monstrous, Armored, trench coats, togas, all of these are only for heroes who have both of their arms. Role-play heavy (or even light) characters who have missing limbs brought back through science/magic or technology have a limited amount of costume workarounds.
Hallibel Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I for one would like to simply be able to combine Robotic Arm 3 with the Cosmic Corsair hooks.
GaelonCeeslian Posted July 4, 2019 Author Posted July 4, 2019 A few other Ideas I will mention, Feel free to comment or ignore, what have you: -I think having wings that pop in/out once you hit fly would be neat. like an angel or something is hiding their angel-ness and only when they take to the skies do their feathery friends make an appearance (oooh, auras that affect wings, glowing or burning wings would be neat, only turn on when flying, or something. could just have glowing angel wings be an option, I dunno.) like the rocket boots, only have effects (read: wings) kick in with the power -sheathed weapons. Where in the name of Hero 1 do all of these weaponized heroes pull their broadsword/rifle/giant beat stick from? I don't think temp powers need to be a factor (where would you hide a Warburg U-135?) but the pistol heroes could get holsters where their pistols hang out in when they are not in combat. There are some textures already there, the ninjas in the mastermind sets get their swords on their backs and stuff, so why not heroes/villains? -asymmetrical costumes. I don't know how many times I have wished I could plunk only one of the two shoulderpads on my character of some random costume piece. Sure there are some pieces like the big skull or the gladiator shoulderpieces, but what about people who want organic armor on one hand and roman vambraces on the other? what if you just want one REALLY big gauntlet on one hand? (Totally not referencing the big purple guy here). I think it would be cool to have the option to turn on targeted/ asymmetrical costume building. What do you guys think?

Unfortunately outside of the scope of what the server runners will ever be able to do. Maybe one of the legacy projects like City of Titans will have these features, since they're likely to have at least some paid devs...though since the day of the full service MMO is over and online gaming has become all microtransactions amd live-service stuff, you may get what you want if they ever do a decent live service Superhero game, but it'll likely cost you 14.99 for the option per character.

Stolen from here and tweaked a bit: /macro Fly "cce 1 CCFeatherBurst$$powexectoggleon Fly" You'd then have something similar to revert: /macro Land "cce 0 CCFeatherBurst$$powexectoggleoff Fly" Your normal costume would be in the first slot (numbered 0) and your flight costume would be in the second slot (numbered 1). This places two macro buttons on your tray which you'd use to I'm pretty sure this should work for you! You can change the costume change emote (CC---) to whatever you want. There's a list in a wiki somewhere. @Cutter So many alts, so little time...
justicebeliever Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Happy Independence Day to all my friends in the USA, and to people who live in freedom everywhere, know that the US rejoices with you! Well, I am becoming more and more convinced that "we" are the server runners...Not suggesting it's a nemesis plot, or that HC is doing an incredible amount of work, but I am suggesting that they are open to other people with the skills and passion to take on pet projects like this. If you have a great idea, or see someone else's great idea on the boards here, and you have the time, will and skill to make it happen...I'd be the first to champion it and pushing the Dev's to let you make it happen... Now nothing is going to happen as quickly as it did when there was a dedicated, paid development staff, so I get that...but we have +100K members, and I am sure that if even 0.1% have passion and skills, that's 100 people, who if working on a passion project at only 5 hrs/week, can do the work of 12 full time devs... We aren't there yet, and it would helpful if HC would help to champion this idea, but I think it's doable, I think it's likely, and I think it would be awesome... srmalloy Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 -asymmetrical costumes. Except for costume pieces specifically hard-coded to work around it, when you pick a costume piece, you are defining the costume for one side of your body; this is mirrored by the game engine to the other side of your body. Every costume piece that's not side-to-side symmetrical has code in the game client defining it that way, and adding more is not just an art issue, it's a programming issue. I see the "asymmetrical costume pieces" suggestions come up again and again, and it seems no one looks to see if it's been asked for before -- like the person making the post somehow believes that they're the first person who's played CoH to ever have wanted more asymmetric costumes. And the answer is the same one that the Paragon Studios devs gave back when the game was live -- the whole costume manager would need to be rewritten to allow more than the one-off asymmetrical pieces we have, and it would double the data storage requirements for costumes (not the stumbling block it was a decade ago, but still...).
