Hello again! We're back with Day 5 and we blitz past the level cap for Croatoa! By the early 30s, we're able to handle pretty high difficulty settings with a little smart play, and the reward is tons of XP gained in just an hour and a half!

I am currently watching your 2nd video of this toon progression. I really would've liked to see how the toon played starting completely from scratch vs the SMALL 100 million Influence gift 🎁

Well, I do have a somewhat detailed explanation for you!

It would've been a lot slower, as I would've put more emphasis on choosing things to do that would grant us merits to then turn into inf to buy the temporary AoEs. The difficulty would also have to be set just a tad lower since I'd have virtually no AoE until Fault and that means clear time would increase drastically. Everything else purchased besides the temp powers and amps are mostly unneeded fluff that just improve quality of life!

I guess that does beg the question of how IOs would be acquired, but that's really more of a question of "How do I acquire resources for my toon?" And for that, I'd direct you to either @Yomo Kimyata or @Sovera!

In the videos, your mids build can be seen for a flash or two, but could you share it here as well?

I am curious how you compensate for the lower max hp of brutes, and the lack of tanker ATOs for helping on resists.

I've struggled to get adequate resists on a brute build, and the HP only goes so high of course...

My numbers at a glance are not all that great, but I do go into detail in the video above on why I made all the choices I did!

@Spaghetti Betty I absolutely appreciate how you build offensively! HAHA always learning stuff from you, I'm about to mesh your Stone Melee slotting with the Bio slotting you helped me with some time back.

BTW I'm watching these vids when I get home today.

Oh yeah, you can use Stamina to double-up on the recharge resistance from Synapse's. And I just put together my own regen brute's build using one of your old ones. Oops! I'll fit that in Mids and see if its worth the resepc.

I made a variant of this with the new sonic melee on the test server, getting extremely high resists all around and using the RoP/MoG process.

It's certainly better than regen used to be, but honestly still a little disappointing when compared to what other armor sets can do.

When surrounded by multiple groups in a +4x8 scenario, it just does not stand up to the pressure.

It's frustrating, because I love regen, it was my first powerset when I first started the game in Live back in the day.

I do accept that in for example 4* content where barrier calls cover everyone equally, regen has the superior state because of the extra it has that other sets lack,

but outside of that environment it just seems to fall short.

For the amount of hoops you have to jump through to get this going, to find the end result still so lacking is disheartening.

That said, I'm not sure how the devs could fix the set without making it completely broken on that top end either.

I have found, on my Tanker, that I can pull a huge room on a +4 ITF if I can maintain +75% resists. On my Brute that is a bit harder and I have to lean in on the clickies. But also, my Brute and Tank are variants of Betty's builds. My Brute occasionally eats floor because I occasionally Brute too hard. But yes, Regen is an active mitigation and you are an integral part of that system, or at least most of the time I am :). There is room for more mitigation, but you'll lose out on DPS. I have Brutes and Tankers where I pull a group, walk away from the keyboard, and have no worry, but that's not gonna be the case with my Regens.

Personally, I like the fact that I have to watch my HP. But now I will say that if you built it exactly the way Betty did, you should be able to cycle between RoP, MoG, Melee Core, and the first 30 seconds of Barrier Core to maintain very high resists. I believe there is a very small window where they may all be on recharge (15 sec or so) but I haven't found that to be a prob. BTW my Brute doesn't have RoP, I just pop an orange and call it a day.

Regen is one of those sets that you really do need to be nitpicky about what you pair it with for best outcomes. Any set that doesn't have a dearth of AoE knockdowns to spam is less desirable to pair with regen, for two reasons:

1 - Knockdown consistently works better against all ranks of critters than other forms of control, with very few exceptions

2 - AoE Knockdown feeds force feedback procs. A regen build will be juggling between procs/acc bonuses, slow resist and other set bonuses. It needs to compensate for not going all-in on recharge bonuses from somewhere. FF procs are the panacea.

There's a reason Betty chose SS and Stone melee. They offer synergy pairing wise and more efficient slotting build-wise, without needing to overly invest into set bonuses to cover a lot of the survival/offensive elements that needs to be covered.
