Chilling Ray animation sometimes spawns at a random location

See first image. Note the trail of Chilling Ray relative to my character casting it. This only happens sometimes, maybe about 33% of casts. Most of the time, it originates from my character's right flank (which is still a little odd as it appears to come from empty air). See second image for that.
