Joviwan Posted Monday at 08:06 PM Posted Monday at 08:06 PM Hello! I'm assembling a new RP brute. Did some teaming, got to 36, slapped a build together. The concept is "What if a magical girl was 40," and I've decided to interpret that as "this magical girl fights the way Syama Pedersen animates Space Marines" (thank you Erika Chappell) I have a loose list of 'objectives', but would like advice on how to hit any of them easier than I am managing to do here. Positional softcap. I will never solo in a way that matters so I'm always gonna have at least one friend nearby. Good "mouth feel." Shield Charge is great for screen-shaking mobility. Spring Attack feels less good but still provides, so I've taken both in order to have the option to rapid fire them in a pinch. Also, Shield Charge is slotted for KB because I want to see people fly away when I hit them, but I realize this may be suboptimal. I'm willing to convert if the impact is big enough. Similar to Crowd Control, I want to feel the "Sauron Sweep" with the mace. Good recharge, NO HASTEN. I hate hasten. Shield already comes with a clicky I need to set to "auto" and I will never manage having two. In addition, shield charge and spring attack both have miserable recharge rates. Currently has 4 lotg + global recharges and the set bonus from kinetic crash rounds that out to 5, which is I think how the limit still works? Reasonable resistances. I feel like brutes should be able to pull this off but. no end problems. energy mastery is probably crudely brute forcing it, but it does let me do goofy things like proc bomb laser beam eyes. I am not a high velocity turbo challenge person. I'd like to keep up with the big kids and make a good showing but I don't need to solo giant monsters or anything. Concerns: I am not good at this! I'm sure everything can be tuned better. I may have too many attacks. I'm worried if I get recharge goals met, I'll have up to 8 attacks available at any one time, which may be more than is useful. Losing some may let me grab one-drop wonders like Build Up and save some slots, but I'm not sure what would be best in this case. Speaking of build up: i know it feels like a no brainer but I just assume Brutes are Cruise Control for Cool and don't super benefit from it? I could be way off. Money is no real object, but also, it's kind of a real object. I only have so much time in the week, etc, so 10 purple sets is probably out of the question. Uun Posted Wednesday at 04:29 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:29 PM You skipped the Gladiator's Armor 3% def unique, Reactive Defenses scaling resist unique and Unbreakable Guard +HP unique. In Jawbreaker and Shatter, swap the dmg/rech piece for dmg/rech/acc. Consider 2x recharge in Active Defense. The DDR stacks. Against All Odds should be taken at lvl 16, not lvl 47. It's one of the core Shield powers. In True Grit, swap Aegis for Unbreakable Guard. In Grant Cover, slot LOTG +rech or Reactive Defenses +resist. The defense doesn't benefit you, only your teammates. In Crowd Control, swap Kinetic Crash for Force Feedback. In Tough, swap Impervium Armor for Unbreakable Guard. Superior Conditioning is over-slotted. It doesn't need more than 1-2 endmod IOs. Laser Beam Eyes requires accuracy. Weave and Maneuvers are over-slotted. Drop the endmod/acc and endmod/rech from Stamina and add chance for +end. Add slots to Health for Panacea +health/+end and Miracle +recovery. 3 Uuniverse

You can place five LotG's +7.5s and also have five 7.5% bonuses from sets in your build and they will all count. 1 SPOON!

Yes and no. There is a limit of 5 of the same kind of set bonus, and 5 LotG 7.5% would put you at that cap. But the kinetic crash would be a different category of set bonus. For whatever reason, the Paragon Devs decided LotG 7.5% was it's own special category of 7.5% recharge. So you can slot 5 lotg 7.% and your kin crash and still get the benefit of all 6 sets of 7.5% global recharge. I could be way off. The damage cap on brutes is very, very high. You can almost always benefit from more damage. Once you're past level 21, the cap is 700% if the HC wiki is to be trusted. The only way my brutes have ever hit this number has been to gobble a lot of red inspirations. I have a Shield/Mace tank, but not the brute. I thought about sharing it, but given the disparity of playstyles, and the ATs, it just seems like that would be a waste of time for both of us. If I were you, I'd just try to pay attention to what your character seems to need when fighting. If your endurance is too low, then slot some end reducers in the larger end using attacks. If you find yourself getting defeated, try to determine if it's because you're just biting off more than you can chew, or if you're getting debuffed to the point of a cascading failure. Certainly, hasten is not required, and on my tank, it doesn't have hasten for the same reason - one auto-fire for the mez protection is in use. And while I could use a key bind for hasten, I don't want to. And as you have noticed, there's plenty of attacks. As a brute, you might want to consider it, as you've got a huge damage cap. It kind of makes sense to maul the npcs with your largest damage attacks as often as possible. I would definitely skip bash or pulverize to take Build-up, but you and I don't play much alike, so that would naturally be your choice. 1
Joviwan Posted 8 minutes ago Author Posted 8 minutes ago Thanks for the feedback, everyone, and sorry for the slow reply--busy life this past week. definitely good to know about the LotG being separate from set bonuses! @UunThanks for the extremely specific advice, that was useful and instructive. I've made revisions based on your recs and it already has way better numbers than my first pass. I moved AOO earlier, but at the cost of bumping grant cover near the end of the line. I'm open to suggestions on which powers hurt the least to push to the end of the line instead if you have a better idea. And let me know if you think I borked anything in my effort to adjust to your recommendations. |MBD;23253;1472;1964;BASE64;| |G9RaERWUcAgtDniyTLgXLBWigY367n/d06NSdHYIc0v9mTF0BknZmRJmm6h89dwmzP8| |ngbbQcmQ99IRfs+h09fUGmzcoMlXLqjYget1TtFenCq4maHFsE6Elg6Q2v//v3prQK9| |xKsSfZyhcahUX+9kIt7U0NPWMXoQZcabpVh8NiPGi3icp90CUOCa6o8XLHxlC7Drt2J| |ibKo0H8tWDoFeU6Rc+nBu6b0k3zacKLqwiKX0N5ZxInhV9DxPz4pJwGvBXrLzfF+bao| |xLrlNDzglE9DLpnU25OZsQqEKaVVlIiSNS20z9ZdGHUsFAx7bBSx702zJMJm/Jt9Pr/| |+eZ76l+AmB1C2l+BywgsqqWdMr+YOB9qS4C4d5Ezs5fCWp8G1yUIyoAOntwa5vVuujT| |aWcUwRy+x7c0Y/+YPw23qz2zSTLTDN+vD2utFOBaWbqN1Eky2x7DhzNuTnmp54UhvLH| |wj7BE3nQ1fIkjJrtYCKVruNmL0pRdjZFN2KOPscqsI+TgRGvcTIDf8TerxSro245Z+u| |OLWcgMV7DmnKyMj+Vzl73vl4TCkK2QvKXV5nMq3AIEqIgnLNAWKfA998OijwmSCVK8B| |le6NBR6P8wB/C7b6ho87ZXMsPYt39vxOSQBGSU1AMyXmEdMQdmLp9JcOqn7fObHbqqE| |mwuVeuLJ3LceOX/wkucm2O4AgaESzVwgIoDsX5jYDD8iuaExAqnsNPNlZV6FpxyJsA3| |4JwuIRiLq/oiTygbedKtKIEkvLACLokokESF2CytzM9i4YxAVxDWAsvwkYSEPblLcVP| |4T0vJeeRNHuZx93y0/JChYP4yCMqM4aOa5rXJsUlAcstjQv3+IL+C4PodZV8btsBt1B| |UU6r4TEbVGlBuVvj1L5ocKz6EMfsegCGiWsgtwBiiCsR2hCVzbUp9s5NlHOZWH07G6c| |dlHrdwYrmcN/nXcE+pfTEkL/Zf7Phs10L9o5hlFS0/EraIldtXaOcSVtMX2FDsX6VCP| |D5NYGLBM7LXuq6yObgsCWUQDRPQLhxy2bCF3aS9YWFjpF94b/65862a3Az4xAPFt92H| |ruhiNtsICkFC9YR1WriNowGfyh6nV93DHfeMgGOUD/1KtX57Xl/AEPEdhBeEN8A4Yio| |ClJy95zjFZbyzwh1dgQkFDGPu6kR5ShUyl2k3241zEJccUJ1jr5qcWhhB36IYklNgHP| |oeOXKOyopiZ3KFtJwHABuK3XJv3wULlO1dLr0ogSR1KESSJoygsxKYQHCIYr4pl3zhX| |KHvZ5qOyZPiK6zlzmajuB7t3YZiQQkYQe8LakBxJCqEJTFJTcp6/vkNuIKO4l4vlyoG| |Wy3/jhjhwz7Z0hIwQgSGtAYYh8sIbmCBylKoo9ppabeBGhqDJ+eRaMhjlrzc/p3rOJ3| |HuVWq9R5ZEN0liwvO188ToyLsLzjuq8sjomUlYADt1mB+LKu/T3FRk5qROXHf+Qwe3r| |4gDzjg5WmKN6+hxyzeIFskQBl6x4C6uwWy7a3qtBBxTvudCS4A73kYAS4U11TYVO8Uh| |jLu1yQRTMjFVVAx910aIArs8bUDD3nAbeyDlVVbVLCVR8G89rDU/dwCH1RTRsJMFgCu| |n2J0FqHssuGeXfzjThTlMrW/BYNFmLrUrs0DsZf49Nk123HTW3lgzhrLEll1RcWEM7i| |aPT65gQPFGT0hRk6Akr2JXA2Vqga16Nf+ycMD8APgZU3PeLL/Qn31IGHOc9r7zjzlAH| |Ptu+GgRqltZ8ibU+px5pxbbBv1daFR8hFV5/R2dl6AiVgJ+q9v/hPmm+1lt8v+6b9TX| |aGO9SSAeJ3+22bb/1qXDUlNls7zEEdidJwV699tyJAOUQnrnN1CuoNDJODsaH7JvA7l| |1f+kWWVYtU+1TtiXD8kwc1eOE8WcYyVSUiy/kcMGim8Tdd5RfEKXGFJof20Xsi2wnae| |oZY9skJDjwNIb/k3o+Ts=|
