retreiving my old toons

if i can't access the computer i used to play on will i ever get my old toons back? I finally got homecoming on my  new computer and have started playing new character because it couldn't transfer toons when i tried. Is beta the same server i was on pre homecoming?

Your characters are tied to your account, not your computer. If you're talking about characters you had on the retail servers (which were in operation from 2004-2012), those characters are permanently gone.

If you mean characters you had before the shutdown, no, you cannot get those characters back.

i played on live but i had my accounts saved and could play up until they dropped tequila. Hmmm, i guess i had 4 accounts on live i was paying for and they were all converted to one account on the hidden server, i'm not sure what to call it now, but i think beta was always separate

1) I remember that name!

2) Is it possible you were playing on one of the Other rogue clients? If that's the case, then you'd need to figure out which one, what email relates to that login, and then see if they still have them. If it Was on HC (SCORE, etc), then I guess it depends on what server (if it still exists) you had them on. With HC, AFAIK, so long as you're logging in with the right email, then you'll be able to get back where you were. One thing you could consider is to figure out When you last played as that could narrow down what you may have been on. I would think that HC could help check your email(s) to see if there are characters still there.

 

Do note that (again, AFAIK) HC has never been able to upload any live Alts from the client side as may (?) be possible for custom servers and those who have somehow downloaded their old Alts. I don't even think this last bit is a thing, but my brain is being squeezed by seasonal atmo pressure, so who knows. >.<

thank for the reply! yeah, Buck Naked was always my main. Victory was my home server but i was around some others here and there. i will reach out to some people to try and figure out what the rogue server was but they were definately saved past sunset. thanks for the info

The rogue server (what these folks call Vanguard) was migrated on to this hardware platform in Q1 of 2024.  It is considered the closed beta for this environment.  There is a separate forum (the old forums for that server) where you can make a request for the toons you had on that server to be restored to Vanguard.  You cannot transfer toons from Vanguard to any of the "live" servers e.g. Excelsior etc.

these were played right up to the launch of homecoming. i remember homecoming becoming a thing in the forum threads

that can't be right, i was playing during the time that homecoming was started and even after it started, but it was it's own server that helped launch homecoming.. does anyone know Globetrotter?

Globe is still around.  She cannot help you restore your toons to these live servers.  There are non-capricious reasons for that.  Many people have asked and it's not happening.  If possible, you must move on.

 

Personally, in coming to the live servers, I lost a global I'd had for about 20 years.  I was penniless and friendless.  I was one of the richest people on that server. I had bases full of purples, ATO's, etc.  I had over 120 50's.  Gone in terms of these servers.  Yes, I can still visit them on Vanguard but that stuff isn't coming here.

ok, i'm kind of losing my marbles and at my age that might be literal, and as i am interested in playing here, i don't want to give up those accounts i had where i as playing with Globe and others for years, i'm just at a loss for the name of the server? or how to reconnect there as well. too much real life stuff is making it tough for me to remember and that computer which i still have is now defunct, or ever since they dropped tequila i was no longer able to update anything on that harddrive... finally have a new computer but no idea how to get back. i'm already badging stuff here as i'm an old badge addict from victory

Vanguard, that sounds right. i used to have access to closed beta, ok those were words i wasn't putting together in my brain but they all make sense now. i will try to reach a few people i know on face book and see if i can get through but asking the right question was proving difficult so thanks so much for clarifying and i'm always up for new toons here, but not sure where and when to play
