Very curious to see how this plays out with regard to the James Gunn DCU projects as there are quite a lot of rumors floating around that both Gunn and Saffron will be out.

Not real keen on the merger, but setting that aside, why would they axe Gunn, and thereby essentially topple the whole revitalization attempt from the DC movie dept.?  That would be akin to dismissing the new coach of a previously-struggling major league sports team, after he's had the first victories in rebuilding the team.

I would assume for the same reason Skydance is scrapping pretty much everything Trek related so they can start from scratch.  The new DCU has not been as successful as WB had hoped and I have read various articles over the last few days about the future of the DCU with this merger.  There seems to be several reasons, several of which are related to TPTB at Netflix not liking the new Gunn-verse to Netflix phasing out theatrical releases to a Netflix exec being a huge Snyder fan.  It is all rumor at this point, but I would not be surprised if James Gunn is let go eventually, especially if Netflix has other people in mind to take over.  I imagine over the next year we are going to see quite a lot of people at WB getting let go, especially those in redundant positions.
