I am looking at making this, since it seems to have some really good control options. If you take Ghost Widow you can have Abyssal Gaze, Positron Cell, Radioactive Cloud and Soul Storm all being mag 3 holds. With a Lockdown proc in all of them you could hold AVs?

 

I know dark have two cones, but the tactic with them seems to be to fire them off to knockdown a spawn with the IO in UT, lock them down with TT and then move into melee so your auras can do their thing.

 

Anyone have experience with this combo?

What powers can be skipped? I punched what I wanted into the planner and ran out of slots before I ran out of powers that needed slots.

It looks like I could skip dark blast for Negatron Slam since I will be in melee, or should I skip Moonbeam though with enough accuracy, I should be able to fire it into melee easy enough. I know I want Atom Smasher just for the animation and for a good AoE.

Ive been wondering that same thing, so I made this build.

I figured, combine some of Dark's -to hit with a focus on ranged/melee defense. Could potentially be some great survivability.

Agreed, the combo does seem to have a lot of holds, Mag 3 at that. Lots of heals as well. I also got up to 100% recharge, not the highest, but not bad either. There is an empty space in Bonfire, that is for Sudden Acceleration: Knockback to Knockdown.

I had been casting about for something to pair with Dark on a Blaster, and while I had looked at Plant, it just wasn't doing it for me. So made a guy to try out Atomic because of this thread, and at level 31 it has not been bad so far. Of course a lot to be determined in upper levels. 

 

Small annoyance in not having a third single target blast until level 26, but lower levels go by quickly.

I have a lvl 50 dark/atomic and although I haven't IO'd it out it performs well in casual taskforces and missioning. That said, it has significant potential at a high level of play when built, for pve only.
