I've tried PBs and WSs a few times (both on Live and Homecoming) and never really felt any connection to the ATs.  But, between the two, I always preferred PBs.  I think I was a bit overwhelmed by the myriad of possible builds and never got past the fear of doing a "wrong" build.  This guide helps a ton!

(As an added benefit, this fits my rainbow-themed "LightBender" character concept perfectly!)

Yo this guide helped me immensely! My PB is now Level 50+ with Perma Light Form Fully IO'd heals and attack powers and just got her Musculature for more damage. I don't know how I'll go back to playing other Archetypes after this. I feel like a very strong Blapper with high defenses. I can run into any mob, then build up, then Nuke, heal if needed and keep going. It's amazing! My next goal is to get enough Influence to slot my stealth, combat jump, and manuevers with luck of the gambler.

Budget version of your most recent build. Did this mostly for me so I can access it from another location haha. Thanks for the great write-up!

Hi!  I've constructed a build conforming to the last post on page one "This is the build I'm working towards."  I'm just about finished with most of it except for the high-end enhs in my attacks and healing.  I find PBs to be very awkward to play in all but human form.

Normally I use the cursor keys to move and the "normal" number keys for attacks 1-0.  When I switch to Bright Nova or White Dwarf forms, my attack powers appear in a temporary tray and I have to use the mouse to access them.  This forces me to switch hands and use the Q-W-E-S-X keys for movement and use the mouse for my attacks.

Is it possible to create keybinds that will allow me to continue using the cursor keys for movement and the "normal" number keys for my attacks?  I've heard that you can assign the powers for the second and third forms to trays 8 and 9 and automatically bring them up when you transform to a particular form (and also continue using the "normal" number keys for attacks.)

Can someone help me, please?

@Super Whatsit

Superbase passcode (Excelsior) is "passcode-6475"

It's all a Nemesis plot.  But not everything is a Nemesis plot!

You can do those kinds of keybinds for sure, I use several on my PB. Here's an old guide from back in the day(it's on Live Journal! That's how old it is!) that still applies for doing things like tray switching binds and what not.  You can just change the keys to be whatever key you want them to be to fit your playstyle.

Have not read every post here, but is the problem with key binds and animation times an asynchronous problem? Meaning the reason it won't work is because the bind macro will try to initiate each power in a row immediately, and if one of them forces you to wait for an animation to run it will stop the subsequent ones from running?

If that is the case it would seem that you CAN have one power in a series with an animation time. As long as it is the LAST power. Would that work?

This is my current build. I chose to keep the psi hole, but i have everything else. It's Tri-form, has Perma Hasten, good damage aside from Dwarf Form, 45% S/L Def.

This guide inspired me too...my PBer' is human form but no light form but completely gambled out (x5) thanks to the playing time I have played him he's also all tiered up (incarnate) with a few purple sets and ATO's. Just sooooo much fun to play!!!

Saw your toon in PI the other day. I just recently rerolled my PB from live and upgraded his build to current standards. Been fun playing a PB (mainly use my WS) and not have to worry about form shifting as much. He's tri-form and is balanced in all forms w/perma lightform, but I honestly only use lightform when I'm in solo Nova mode.

I wanted to chime in with another option for keybinding.  On most of my alts, I like keeping my number keys bound to the powers on tray 1, instead of to the default of current tray, so if I'm temporarily on another tray using Secondary Mutation or Reveal or something, and suddenly see an enemy, my reflexive hitting of the number keys will still work.  But having gotten into that habit, it means that the usual Kheld technique of changing tray when changing forms won't work.

So what I've done instead, is I've bound all of my number keys to attempt to execute the power on tray 1 and the power on the server tray.  Only one power will work in a multi-power command, but that's OK, because  only one of those two powers can work, in any given form.  If I'm in humanoid form, my keys end up executing from tray 1, as normal, and if I'm in squid or lobster form, then my tray 1 powers will be grayed out, and so the number keys will execute the powers available in my form instead.

This is an approximation of my current PB build.  The powers were chosen in slightly different orders and I've actually scavenged one slot out of Stamina for higher +Rech.
So LightForm and Hasten are VERY perma.
And you'll see that Light Form really ISN'T being used much for +Resist (it's pretty much all the way there on it's own).
It's just using it for the Recovery and Status Resistance.
No.  It's NOT rocking capped Defense.  Mainly because a PB has no DDR!
So I treat it like my Fire/Fire/Pyre Max Resist tank.

No, the build's designed for Human-Form.
The Dwarf is merely for mule use.

Perma-Light Form basically keeps 20+% Defense (mostly ablative in nature) and capped Resists to everything but Psi.

Thanks! I haven't been on in ages but I noticed the guide was still sort of lingering in the PB/WS forum so I took a gander.

Since they changed when powers are available, I suppose the guide would need an overhaul (which I'm not willing to do) but hopefully the mentality of PBs stay the same!

Any updates for an "ultimate" PB build since the last one in 2019?  Like the poster above, I spend most of my time in the human form, unless there is no blaster in the group.  Had been out of the game last couple of years, what changed with PBs?

Nothing too specific for us. Toggle suppression is handy - when you transform your other toggles stay active but don’t cost end - which is useful for tri forms. The power level changes are good too - we unlock the powers much earlier too.

This is a great thread and PB are so much fun to play.

It's fun to use a PB for low level content to high level content as there's ALWAYS things to be doing.

Great for playing with people that are new to the game or well seasons vets.

Incarnate system is fantastic and frankly I've never not felt powerful.

This is mostly the build I had in live. I rebuilt it a little and made some tweaks with powers (stealth pool).  It's not cheap but build yourself a fire farmer and you'll get there..

Defense is definitely not the focus here but perma hasten, perma inner light, perma essence boost, and perma lightform is.

The build rocks a 220% damage boost when inner light hits and if gausians procs that goes up to 293%..  Needless to say I never feel lesser than scrappers or blasters.

It also makes the white dwarf powers significantly better (though I mostly go white dwarf for the AOE attack, when I examplar down to a lower level, when I need that third heal, or need to play tank for the team).  I don't have quantum flight or restore essence.. In most content I don't find the need for it.

I do have a bigger Psi hole than OP's builds, but with both reform essence and white dwarf sublimation up every 16 seconds.... well that hole is as good as plugged.

I love PBs.. One of my favorite ATs..  I like WS too but WS walks the razor edge so often and is less straight forward than PB (at least to me).

Anyway here's the build!

Want Perma Lightform without Hasten?

I put together a derivative “GD Peacebringer” build that I finally feel confidant enough in to share. (Thanks Whitest Light!) There have been some great discussions about a Hasten-less Peacebringers with perma Lightform, but I haven’t seen any actual builds posted. I know there are talented folks out there that just need a jumping-off point to get their own build going, so here we go...

A few things to note about my goals and method:

  1. Lightform permanent without Hasten (this build is a half-second away from that goal*).
  2. Every slot went into powers I actually use. No slot mules outside of one-slot-wonder power picks.
  3. Fully embrace the spirit of Jack of All Trades.

Some cool features:

  1. With Lightform, all resistance is capped except Psionic at 80% (which will scale up to 85% as you lose some health).
  2. AoE focused, but a strong single-target chain is available in Human form.
  3. Infiltration + Stealth in Sprint make you almost invisible to everything for those times that you want that.
  4. LOTS of wiggle room for different approaches.

*The Big Caveat:

“A half-second downtime means this isn’t Perma Lightform.”

So true.  That split second can really slam you if you’re not careful. Your crash hits, and suddenly all those status effects plopped upon you go off all at once.

Flip to Dwarf right before the crash like you did in your 40’s. You can heal up, then drop to human so Lightform fires off immediately (because you have that on auto...right?).

If you don’t want to deal with that nonsense, then just Dwarf up at any time during Lightform’s duration. The Force Feedback procs set into both single-target Dwarf attacks pretty much guarantee at least one activation...and just one gets you permanently Lightform-ed.

THE BEST OPTION: Make the Kheldian’s Grace enhancements the inferior version, instead of the three slots of Essence Transfer in Bright Nova Blast. You’d sacrifice just 2% of your Psionic resistance, and Lightform would be perma without any additional effort. “Why isn’t the build like this already?” reasonable people will surely wonder. Well, I’m a pedantic weirdo who values seeing that 80% in Psionic resistance more than the value of fire’n’forget Lightform. I’m getting help, promise.

**Please note that getting some recharge from your Alpha Incarnate renders all of these compromises moot in 50+ content.**

I also sacrificed a chunk of damage potential to get here. I wanted to turn all my melee knockback into knockdown, and because I was also chasing high recharge, there are two full sets of Sudden Acceleration utilized. I’ve never felt weak, though. Chewing through +2/x8 would be trivial for practically any player. Skilled players could very easily take on +4.

Room for Customization:

The last 4 powers are one-slot flavor powers. You won’t need Glowing Touch, Conserve Energy, Photon Seekers, or Quantum Flight. Pick anything you want. I use Photon Seekers as a PBAoE knockdown to mitigate damage. Quantum Flight is there for when things go really bad. I forget I have it because this build is so survivable… I never got in the habit of leaning on it.

If you don’t care about Psionic resistance, then you’ll have so much space to personalize this one. Instead of Shining, Thermal, and Quantum shields, you could go with Boxing, Tough, and Weave. Just a little bit of defense for your Human form will make you beastly. Then you can do yourself a favor and pick up Cross Punch as one of your one-slot flavors. Force Feedback +Recharge was built for this power! Also, not chasing Psionic will allow you to ignore the 6th slot of most of these sets. Use the slot(s) in a different power (Weave?), or put whatever procs you want to make this build more your own.

The exciting customization differences are going to be the things I haven't even thought of.

Special Thanks!

This thread convinced me to try Peacebringers. I had a MF-ing Warshade back on Live that would melt groups of baddies like all proper Warshades can, but I’m now finding the Peacebringer to be more fun. I hit Veteran level 50 with them this week. I have other Supers that could use attention, but this one is so much fun that I keep playing them. This thread also inspired me to learn how to best utilize the Auction House just to afford becoming a GD Peacebringer. That’s knowledge that’s let me trick out my entire stable of supers.  I'm so grateful for this community. It's about time I gave something back.

I hope this build helps someone!

I hopped on today for the first time in...(let's not talk about that!)... and found some interesting changes. I still have Quantum Acceleration also have Quantum Maneuvers? Did it get replaced or something? I'm also enjoying Leadership toggles cycling back on after form switches, though they still sometimes turn off. Are all toggles this way now?

Ran some random missions and can confirm I was having a blast. Still virtually unkillable, Dawn Strike/Photon Seekrs/Solar Flare combo still owns bones, and dropping back to blast fools with Nova still felt good. I wish the single-target damage was higher (I struggled even hurting an AV) but for everything else, I'm still quite happy with my build.

It warms my little Kheldian heart that so many folks have said this old guide convinced them to give PBs a try. We're still pretty rare, though! I had a team yesterday say that I was the only level 50 PB they'd ever seen. A few went so far to say they had never encountered a PB, though plenty of Warshades. I feel like a bit of a unicorn but I hope that's a temporary condition. GD PBs all the way!
