I like the combo, specifically for my new Dominator. However, I barely played doms back on Live, and would like to request a Mids/Pines build for it. Or just a copy and paste. What is easier. My goal is perma-dom, but I'm not sure if it's possible with Plant/Savage. I also did a search, and couldn't find anything. Specifically, I guess I am looking for something that can do well and solo/ as well as team's. If I wanted it to be Pvp...needless to say, I would not go Plant/Savage.

I've been playing one too, but I'm only 35 and am waiting to see how i like the tier 9 savage before I make a build. I'm quite confident it can be perma everything though. Will try to remember to post build when I make it if no one else has put something up. Could be a minute though as I'm an altoholic.

I made one the other day and got it up to level 23. I been playing around with a build, but I'm not too happy with it right now, but I thought it might give you help and a good starting point. It has perma-dom and perma-hasten but the def is a little lower than I would like.

How's this:  Perma-Hasten, Perma-Dom, Soft-capped defense to S/L/E, Personal Force Field for stealthing with abandon or when things get really bad.  And lots of tasty damage procs.

I haven't played dom much but on my plant controller Roots is a good source of AoE damage. Based on none of the above slotting any damage in it, I'm guessing it's not a good damage option for doms? Or is it just that you've got better options? Similarly, I thought conventional wisdom was to slot creepers with lots of damage procs - is that not a thing for doms?

Roots does about 45 damage unslotted at 50, so no it isn't a very damaging attack.  I didn't slot procs in Creepers because I was chasing recharge for perma-dom.  But you make a good point and I might be able to borrow a slot from somewhere to put in a damage or -resistance proc in there.  Also, I slotted Avalanche in Feral Charge because Mids was making me use PBAoE but in game it's actually slotted with a full Blistering Cold set.

Do we know if proc creepers is still a good option with the ppm changes? Under the old system they had a chance to proc with every hit but I don't think they do now. I tried out a force feedback + recharge in mine for a while but quickly removed it as it seemed to only have a chance to proc on initial summon. I've left annihilation -resist in there for the time being but I don't see the graphic indicator very often from it either.

Maybe Force Feedback is benefiting the pseudopet? I know this is super vague but I saw someone recently do a bunch of testing on creepers and they said that damage procs were the bomb there. Their takeaway was that enhancing recharge rate generally lowers proc rate but since creepers spawns pseudopets the procs look at the pets attack rate not the powers recharge rate and he got them to do a lot of damage by slotting 4 or 5 damage procs.

 

Re: roots, it's entirely possible that the controller version and the dom version are different. Wouldn't be the first time for something like that. Good to know though, thanks; I won't waste a lot of damage on it on my dom build (just started).

I went and read the bit in the proc thread about creepers as well. Sounds sweet with damage but I'm leaving out the FF proc - creepers seems to have a fast attack rate anyway. just wish i could get it to perma too but without recharge in the power I can't with what else I want to do. But here's the build I think I'm going with - should mention that I'm going to keep offensive and defensive amplifier on it so add 5% defense all and 7% resist all and some damage/to hit/recharge. When you're spending this much already why not throw an extra 40 million at it every 8 hours of play.

Finally hit 50 and finished the build. No incarnate stuff yet and it's already amazing. Procced out creepers is just bananas.

Just wondering how this build has panned out for you, some months later.  I created/slotted it on Pineapple to test it out and was a bit overwhelmed with the number of attack powers from Savage.

 

What does your typically attack chain/process look like? How do you typically approach a mob?  I'm wondering if some of the Savage powers could be eliminated and replaced with some other pool powers, and those slots used elsewhere.  Just curious how you've liked it now that it's been some time (assuming you've continued to play it).

I gave it a long break and just recently tier 4'd it. I still think it's really fun but it's pretty well retired with the rest of my tier 4's - side effect of my skinner box style is that there's really no reason for me to play my characters past tier 4's. unlike live where I needed moar merits, here i have so much cash that i only touch the merits i got as i leveled for whatever boosters the character needs. i'm unfortunately not a play just to play person when there are more food pellets out there to be had, so my 'finished' toons get neglected for new alts getting leveled/finished.

 

That said, it was never really an attack chain maxing kind of toon for me. I just grabbed savage to throw birds and bees and I pay absolutely no attention to the blood frenzy mechanic. My typical approach is to drop creepers and seeds of confusion then use whatever powers because nothing's going to be standing long after that. It is really too many powers - I barely remember I have soul drain and the heal and if i were going for the best chain i'm sure half of my stuff could go because my recharge is so high. My bread and butter is pretty much to get in an unkindness before all the lieuts are dead then hold and hawk a boss, feral charge in, vicious slash. maybe the aoe if other things are around. maybe some bees. jump back for more ravens and repeat. It's tough to say really since unless i'm on 4/8/bosses or the av part of a tf the creepers/confuse/flytrap combo melts things too fast to bother getting into too much of a pattern. And with perma-dom it's so safe I can pretty much do whatever feels fun at the particular moment. You probably need to find yourself a pylon person to really answer your questions.

When you're spending this much already why not throw an extra 40 million at it every 8 hours of play.
