  1. Reminder:

Adding/Creating a 'data' folder in your City of Heroes directory is very likely to change the default configuration write/read directory from "piggs" to "data". This means if you use /bind_save_file or /bind_load_file, the directory has changed and the command/your macros may fail to load.

TO FIX: You need to move your custom bindings and macros from "piggs" to "data".

Woohoo. I finally managed to make a donation before the window closed. 🙂

The window hardly lasts an hour to be fair...

I've only managed to donate once.  I wish there was a way to subscribe to an email announcement when the window opens so I'd know to hit the donation button fast enough.

  3. You know.  I think if we were just able to customize the appearance of thugs/mercs/zombies (which would probably be a huge pain in the tail, because it would require costume customization for 3? toons per mastermind) I would die happy.

Also... Female Huge.  And fully-open costumes, so I can use the dresses and hairstyles on male and/or huge.

I would like to see a progression in the story lines that are already in place that affect maps that aren't really used right now like Perez Park or Boomtown.

This, but more importantly to me would be to update the old zone content to be more in line with what "modern" MMOs have for zone content:

In zone content and storylines should all REMAIN in one zone, not travel all over 10 different zones.  Each archetype should have a "path" that leads through a set of zones (frequently that will be the same set of zones, but not always!) so that when leveling new toons and doing storyline content we have a reason to do the STORY content and not do radio mishes.  I know the reason I mostly do radio is so I know I'm not bouncing all over 20 zones.

Noooooo!  How will continue to tease TonyV about the D? 🤣

After all, without the D Homecoming is sure to fail.

...I may or may not still be pondering /petitioning for my supergroup on Everlasting to be changed to "the unnegotiated D" or something.

    FUD.

How is 'this person has closed many/no deals over the years at multiple companies' in anyway a grey area?

I could talk all day about someones experience and never let out PII.

Again, this assumes the intent is uncover PII data, which is not my intent.

I agree the information being made availble is unlikely, simply because no one seems to understand what I am even talking about...

    🙂

Except that there IS personally identifying information available.

There is a delaware corporation formed.  With someone who was as dogged as you are at NOT LETTING THIS GO, someone could look up who formed it and then internet stalk backwards.

And then, if the HC team posted some basics like "Jimmy has worked with 4 corporate mergers before" you could cross-compare on LinkedIn and other social media platforms fairly easily and, within a matter of a day or two, the weaponized autism of the internet would know the names, home addresses, phone numbers, and credit scores of the entire HC team and likely blow the whole HC/NCSoft deal apart.

So they are being VERY cagey for a reason.

For example, I mentioned in this thread that I've been involved in sales, marketing, and politics for a long time.  Someone on here could figure out my location from some of my comments (not hard, I think I list my location in my bio even), hunt me down on Facebook (I have a 2 public pages on there) and out me as a video gamer (which no one would be shocked by).  I'm careful not to say anything outlandish in text that can be screenshotted for that reason, even if it's "hidden" behind "anonymous" forum logins,  because I assume that SOMEONE will eventually link them to me.

GM Jimmy, Cipher and I are running the actual discussions on this side. I'm not going to name individuals' names from NCSoft, but I'll say that the people involved have the authority and the ability to make a deal happen.

As for details, that's still being discussed. And while it has largely been agreed upon, we don't want to go blasting out what all it entails because until there's some ink dry, it's still under consideration.

Let me put it this way: If we told everyone that we were working on getting A, B, C, and D, and when everything is said and done we were able to get A, B, and C, but not D, there would be a sizeable contingent of people who were upset that we didn't get D. That's all they'd hear, and they'd never be able to enjoy A, B, and C because they'd be too miserable ruing how not having D just ruins everything. There would even a smaller group who insisted that we were lying about D the whole time as some nefarious plot to get everyone behind us, only to break their hearts in the end because as everyone knows, D is really the only important thing all along.

I'm not being coy here, and I'm not trying to string people along. I've maintained all along that the best attitude to have through all of this is cautious optimism. We're doing our best to nail all this down as quickly as possible and I promise that we're not going to leave everyone hanging indefinitely. I know there are a lot of people out there who think that if they were on our shoes, this would be going a lot differently. All I can say in response is that we're doing the best we can, and I personally think it's going really well. You don't have to live in a dream land of rainbows and unicorns, but all I ask is to not go all Doom and Gloom™. Give us a chance and see what we come up with. I think that it's going to be a really good deal.

I will reiterate one thing that's already been said: This is a not-for-profit endeavor. I've seen speculation that we're going to start charging to play, putting microtransactions out there, yadda yadda yadda. That's simply not true. This has been and will continue to be a community supported effort, not a business.

Last but not least, I know everyone wants a time frame. I can't give one. I wish I could, but all of this is pretty new. NCSoft doesn't have any kind of boilerplate template to use for this agreement; it's all having to be custom created, and that takes time and resources. We do have an idea of how long this should take, and it is finite, but again, I don't want to mention some time frame only to have everyone getting out the pitchforks if it goes a bit longer than that. As I said above, we're working to get this done as quickly as possible.

And now I need a new vanity supergroup:  Champions of Negotiated D.  We'll be a vigilante group that kills everyone on sight and reminds them that even though YOU MIGHT THINK EVERYTHING IS AWESOME, D WAS NEGOTIATED AWAY.  And when the deads' families come to ask us, "What was D?" we will stare deeply into their eyes and say, "It was everything.  EVERYTHING."

Make your browser wider, or zoom out.

This actualy did it.  I have a very high def screen at home and use specific size windows so I can ultra-multitask, while at work I have a smaller monitor on an older PC so I'm used to not having all the windows showing at once.  It literally never occurred to me to just make the window wider.

  9. Ok, this is going to sound odd, I think.

I use Firefox both at home and in my office.

When I'm at home, the forum header in sub-forums is like this:

    image.thumb.png.de28261b149fcec8bf3d843f1e62be67.png

And I have to click that stupid arrow for each directory to get back "up" a directory.  In my office, it shows the full directory tree and I can click any point in the tree (for example, to go all the way back to the home directory of the forum).

What setting do I need to enable in what thing to fix this issue?

  10. ...and then have her RP walking around looking for her alternate-dimension self.  She was in some kind of science experiment and some kind of chromosome changes happened.  She's definitely ALL XX, but she's pretty sure the other half of her got a SUPER-DOSE of the manly genes...

    brb, rolling a claws/regen scrapper...

  11. Homages were always fine.  But if you literally made Wolverine and named yourself WulverineXX you were 4-xure gonna get whapped with the generic bat as soon as a GM saw you.  Every time.

It was sort of a game for some people to see what level they could make it to before they got Generic-Batted.

    I love that show!

That's where my forum name comes from.  My sister started the joke that my memory is so bad I probably have "the Mad Cow" and since I didn't get it she told me to watch Boston Legal.  I love James Spader and William Shatner so I can't understand how I had never watched the show before.  One quick binge later and my Steam and forum names are now "MadCow"

One thing is certain. If this deal goes through, there are people in-game that should be ready for a visit from the Trademark Police.

Yup.  Once Homecoming becomes an Official Thing, I believe everyone should just assume that in the deal will be "Homecoming GMs will be required to enforce known trademarks."

I've mentioned it a few times.  I'm actually kind of surprised they haven't had that warning go out already as a "Be Prepared for this!" to get people ready for it.

Fun fact The forum can have any number of custom post rep icons. Also they can call name whatever they want.

    RepIcons.png.2d6c8101de09fdb714fc189f00f324a6.png

Reminds me, I need to change that thumbs up icon on the RO forum, it's far too hard to see on dark backgrounds.

I posted this before, so before folks ask... The icons are just for fun for the ROers, 'Like' still gets used the most.

And now we absolutely need the forum to use inspiration icons instead of smileys as post responses.

    I amend my earlier suggestion!
