    I said magic-like with the understanding that it isn't magic but can be interpreted as such. I get your point though that it could be seen as a comic-book effect. That's another way it can be interpreted. All I'm saying is it would be nice to have a normal dude with normal fighting fx.

    The fx of some power sets make it thematically difficult to create new character concepts. Some power sets that come to mind are martial arts, spines (toxic mist) and melee weapon fx. Forcing a natural origin character to have magic-like fx when using martial arts or street justice is another example that makes it difficult to role play the way you want.
