One of the defining rules of World’s Collide is the removal of traditional travel powers. This is an intentional design choice. What “No Travel Powers” Means: No Fly, Super Speed, Super Jump, Teleport Movement still exists through sprint and team buffs. Positioning is earned, not reset at will This is not “no movement.” This is the end of the reset meta. --- Why This Rule Exists In standard PvP, many engagements end the same way: Pressure is applied A player disengages instantly The fight resets World’s Collide removes the Get-Out-of-Jail-Free button. When you commit, you commit. --- What Changes in Combat Location-Based Hazards Are Final Targeted AoEs and ground control finally matter. Powers like Tar Patch, Quicksand, Ice Storm, Tornado, Bonfire, and knockdown fields are no longer inconveniences — they shape the fight. If you’re caught, your options are: Fight through Get peeled by your team Or go down --- Positioning Decides the Fight High ground matters. Choke points matter. Doorways matter. If you lose space, you can’t just fly back to it. You have to take it back. Tankers and Brutes become anchors. Controllers and Dominators control real territory. Blasters must choose when to step forward — and rely on their team when they do. --- How Will You Show Up for Your Team? Without instant disengage: Who holds the line? Who protects the backline? Who commits when the window opens? This rule rewards team awareness, timing, and coordination, not solo escape tools. --- Design Intent Removing travel powers: Gives targeted AoE powersets a real PvP role Slows fights just enough to create counterplay Makes positioning, peel, and commitment meaningful Creates space for drafts and bans to matter This is not about limiting creativity. It’s about forcing decisions. --- World’s Collide is competitive by design — not chaotic, not grind-gated, and not solved by mobility alone. If you can’t fly away from a bad trade… How will you adapt? 🔗 Full rules & sign-ups: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/62179-world’s-collide-pvp-event-—-rules-update-archetype-diversity-cap/

Combat is grounded. 🚫 No Incarnates: Base powers only. ⚖️ AT Diversity Capped: We want a balanced mix of Archetypes for a fair fight. 📍 The Details Map: Steel Canyon (Arena) Focus: Learning-oriented. Whether you are a veteran or new to PvP, this is about testing strategy and positioning on a tighter, urban map. Meeting Spot: Pocket D (Excelsior Shard) 15 minutes before kickoff. Interested? World’s Collide matches use a 30-minute match timer with Sudden Death conditions. This timer is intentional and serves several competitive purposes: Why a 30-Minute Timer Exists 1. Creates space for informed engagement Teams are given time to probe, position, and test opposing strengths before committing to full engagements. Early information matters. 2. Rewards adaptation, not rush tactics If a team is at a compositional disadvantage, the timer allows room to adjust positioning, targeting priorities, and counter-play instead of forcing immediate all-in fights. 3. Resolves evenly matched encounters In late-game or 1v1 scenarios, the timer ensures a decisive outcome rather than endless resets or stalemates. 4. Prevents indefinite avoidance play The timer discourages strategies that rely on indefinite hiding or disengagement (e.g., a lone remaining player avoiding combat indefinitely). Design Intent The match timer is not a rush mechanic. It is a pressure mechanic. It ensures: Meaningful pacing Intentional engagements Decisive outcomes Respect for player time World’s Collide rewards teams that can read the field, adapt under pressure, and commit decisively when the moment is right.

Official Clarification: How Bans Work in World’s Collide Here’s the clean explanation, so everyone is on the same page. World’s Collide does not lock players to a single fixed PvP character. How bans actually work: During the draft, teams ban specific powersets tied to a specific Archetype A ban always targets one AT + one Primary or Secondary powerset Example: Defender – Secondary – Radiation Emission is banned That ban does not affect Tanker Radiation Armor, Corrupter radiation emission, etc. Bans apply only to what is explicitly named What this means for players: You are signing up as a player, not as a single locked toon You are expected to have at least one viable option that is not banned This does not require a roster of min-maxed PvP characters One solid, flexible build usually survives any draft Why this system exists: To prevent single-strategy dominance To encourage adaptation and team strategy To reward draft decisions and coordination over pre-event grinding Important timing note: Bans occur during the draft, not mid-match There are no surprise bans during gameplay Once the draft is locked and referee inspection is complete, teams play with full clarity In short: You are not expected to gamble your time blindly You are not expected to own a stable of legacy PvP toons You are expected to adapt within a structured draft environment That is the intended competitive experience of World’s Collide. @Dan Petro

Rules Spotlight: Last Man Standing This spotlight highlights how Last Man Standing works in World’s Collide and what it means for gameplay. Last Man Standing Rule This match uses Last Man Standing rules. Each player has one life Upon defeat, the player respawns as an observer Defeated players may not re-enter combat for the remainder of the game in progress Revive Mechanics Revive powers do not function under this rule Self-revives, ally revives, resurrection effects, and similar mechanics have no effect Revive powers provide no gameplay advantage and cannot bypass elimination Build Notes Multiple builds are optional, not required Players may prepare alternate builds for flexibility Once eliminated, you are out — regardless of build. Design Intent Last Man Standing emphasizes: Commitment to each engagement Team protection, positioning, and coordination High-stakes decision-making under pressure Every elimination matters. Every survival counts. Comebacks must happen before the final fall. 🔗 Sign-up information & full rules: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/62179-world%E2%80%99s-collide-pvp-event-%E2%80%94-rules-update-archetype-diversity-cap/

Thank you for your feedback. I agree with the travel powers. That's what makes City of Heroes, City of Heroes. As for the rules, World's Collide is exploring the forbidden dimension where cars, airplanes, and trebuchet does not exist. Somehow, flying drones got through. Could you believe that?

A recurring question has been how “ready” a character needs to be to participate in World’s Collide. Short answer: you do not need a perfect or legacy PvP build to play. World’s Collide is intentionally structured around draft decisions, bans, team coordination, and in-match execution. The ruleset is designed so that a solid, functional PvP build is sufficient to compete. Fully min-maxed, purple-heavy PvP characters certainly exist — but they are not the expectation nor the baseline for this event. If you can bring: A level 50 character Standard IO sets A clear role or playstyle …you are prepared to participate. The goal is not to reward who has invested the most time or influence beforehand. The goal is to see how teams adapt, draft, and perform within the event itself. World’s Collide is meant to be competitive — not exclusionary. Bans happen on the day of the match. 12–25 hour is the estimated time required to take a character from level 1–50 with an event-legal, competitive baseline PvP build. This estimate assumes: Standard IO sets (common and uncommon) Selective PvP IOs, used sparingly where they meaningfully support the build No Incarnates No accolades No purple-set optimization No full PvP-set min-maxing This is the expected and sufficient build level for World’s Collide. Fully optimized builds that rely heavily on purple sets or stacked PvP IO bonuses do exist, but they require substantially more time and resources and are not required, expected, or assumed for participation in this event. The ruleset is intentionally designed to: Keep the baseline time investment reasonable Prevent legacy gear advantages from deciding matches Emphasize player skill, coordination, drafting, and execution In practical terms: You are not expected to bring a maxed, legacy PvP character You are expected to bring a solid, functional PvP build The stated time estimate reflects that middle ground I would like take a moment and thank you for your work on the meteor farm "Story of a Real Big Dog." It got me through many builds and made the game more enjoyable when I first came back 12 months ago. @Dan Petro
