[Mid-Level IOs]

Whatever I pick up till 22, then full 25 IOs until 50, unless I have/find/bother with some specific attuned sets earlier. Leveling is so fast these days that 50 isn't far off (unlike spending months in 25-50 on live after launch, somehow).

 

Unless you make all of your favorite toons with "Technology" origin, like I did. Literally no mobs in Steel Canyon drop DO's with "Technology".

 

So I pretty much just make level 20 IO's for all of them once I hit 17.

Regarding dehydrate, I somewhat disagree. I have a secondary powerset without a self-heal (kinetics) and I just took dehydrate last night. It makes it so much easier for me to solo missions now.

[Changing rarity via converters]

How do you change an enhancers rarity?  I have enhancement converters and when I click convert it lets me convert within set of random within rarity.... What am I missing?

There's a little pull down menu that will let let convert within type instead of within rarity.

 

OK. I tried the enhancement converter thing for the first time last night. I used a level 30 uncommon in the "immobilize category". In this category there are, I think, 2 uncommons and 3 rares. I used the dropdown menu and chose "by category". It converted into the other uncommon enhancement in the "immobilize category"....Ugh. Did I do something wrong, or did I just get unlucky in the game of Converter Roulette?

The best you can do is let people know that some things are trickier to play than others, or are not as powerful late game as others, and let them make the decision for themselves.

I need some advice. I have created a Robots MM that's theme (and name) is fire-based. I want to pick Thermal Radiation for the secondary powerset, because it fits his theme and backstory better; but I want a MM that can solo well all the way up to max level. I love grouping as well, just like to play in short time chunks a lot. Everything I'm reading seems to indicate that /dark, /traps, and /time are awesome secondaries for Bots.

 

Can thermal be "really good"? Even if not the most powerful secondary? I really don't have to be "the most optimal", but I can't stand gimping a character either.
