  1. if we can add wishlist items, I'd really love vehicles.

My recollection is that was completely unworkable during live, but maybe things have changed.

Running is fine, but I'd love to have a car to help with transport and maybe battle?

But, I like the game as it is right now. It's been a nice throwback to the past that I've enjoyed, despite the fact that 15 years has not done much for some of the cliquish behavior that detracts from the game.

However, I have realized that the mission maps are not all that great. They weren't then, either and I'd forgotten it.

I'm not sure if more variety can be added, but that might help some.

In all fairness, I have seen more designs and they look great, but I guess mob sweeping several floors gets repetitive.

I have not hit all the features, so if anyone has some recommendations on missions, please send my way.

    Hey folks.

I've hidden several posts, as things were starting to get heated.

And I'll take this opportunity to remind everyone that we do not allow harassment of any kind on our servers, forums, or discord. Whatever experiences folks may have had on Live, we do our best to make sure everyone here feels safe, and thoroughly investigate all reports of harassment and misbehavior.

Thanks! Seems a reminder was needed.

I need to respec my regen brute to finetune it, but my experience was always positive. Most regen critics conflate “clicky” with “bad” to a misleading extent.

I'm kind of seeing this, too. Although, there a couple of powers that I thought were always on that seem to be one-time uses now. I apologize for the vagueness, but 17 years does a number on a memory of a game..lol

Granted, I'm only at 24 right now, but I think expectations is key. Can my Scrapper solo 5-6 villains of +1? No, but I'm not sure that it ever could or if I want it to.

Some of my best gaming times were cleaning up a blasters mess or whittling away the pile of enemies on my tanker.

Everyone's wants and playing styles are different, though. I think I'd just like a little more "oomph" in a couple of powers, but I don't need to solo Thanos or anything...

  4. As an old school Moon Knight fan, I'm hyped for this.

This could be a great show or just more of the same. I'm hoping for the former.

But, even at the risk of sounding like a fanboy, I always give great thanks for having these options.

(sits in a rocking chair and pulls out pipe) Back in my day, all we had were reruns of that 1960s Fantastic Four Cartoon and Spier-Man and His Amazing Friends, there was Spider-Woman, but that almost unwatchable.

I'd never have thought I'd be hearing a grandma mention "Thanos,"

    Good times!

"500" a bit of an exaggeration; just seems like 500.

The bulk of it all is probably Uncanny X-Men, Spiderman, Daredevil, and Punisher. IDK if I can sell mine due to condition & sentimental stuff.

I started reading old Moon Knight issues, found issue#1. Liked but it was cancelled. Then they released Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu, not as good but still. Then cancelled. Then restarted MK again, it was good but then I quit comics all together.

    Ha ha ha...I get it.

I say I have 2000 and that's probably an understatement. The old 1980 MK series was fun. Great art.

If that's in any decent shape at all, those books are selling for a lot with the show coming out.

I've drifted in and out over the years, but I still pick up random independents and others that interest me.

It's a fun hobby and those raggedy old pages instantly transport me back to being a kid again.

Good times! Thank you for sharing!

  6. I'm glad you brought this topic up. I created a MA/Regen scrapper and I've been really surprised at how weak Regen is now.

I recall my build being able to withstand a lot of punishment, but I also quit playing around the first year, so I'm missing out on a lot of changes.

I'm debating a respec, but I'm still not sure.

One of my SG mates won the online submission costume contest to appear in one of the comics.

Just an appearance in a panel or 2, no dialog or action sequence. But still, thee winner of numerous entries.

"Tiger Tank," costume designed by (I forget). IIRC the male characters in the comic accidently stumble into a female dressing room. Just a cute little casual outfit, (plaid mini skirt?)

Still have all of mine but they're all mixed in with the other 500 comics.

As others have said, the writing in the books was...well, it was words, but the bits celebrating the community where fun as heck.

What do you collect? I'm about to get into mine and see if I can find the CoH comics.

I'm selling all my X-Men books and trying to get them together.

What's your keeper book out of the 500?

  8. 1 hour ago, SuggestorK said:

Yes i still have all of em, Blue Kings Studios and the Top Cow ones.. they also was available back on live from the CoH Homepage as PDF download.

    Ah! A collector!

I have most of the Blue King and I think one or two of the Top Cow. They are sitting in a box somewhere.

I'm currently trying to weed out most of my modern comics to purchase more Bronze and Silver Age books.

  9. While I agree with the original premise of being kinder, I do want to offer another perspective.

My first go around with CoH ended up being a very unpleasant experience because of incompetent moderation.

I was getting death threats and harassed from the second I logged on until I logged off. I got a lot of excuses and even when pointing out that one of the people was a serial bully on the boards just did not work. All the proof and evidence in the world did nothing because one Mod didn't want to do his/her/their job.

If the same thing happened today, it would be called bullying and is against almost all ToS on games or social media.

Some of it was new and some it was just sheer incompetence by an overwhelmed Mod who was more interested in chumming with forum regulars.

Having said all this, unfocused rage at "They" isn't constructive. Pick clear logical arguments and stick to your guns and that feedback will be taken more seriously, usually.

I joined up in August, '04, and did get the regular issues throughout the next year; I would argue that the value of the storytelling (and, for me, that means an effective combination of graphics and text) improved on a linear per-issue basis up to the conclusion, which seemed to herald some of the upcoming online developments; basically the printed comic served as an advertisement for changes in '05 and so on.

Although the fate of the individual issues has fallen into "back of the closet" status, I do have the Top Cow trade paperback collections that were done, and still pull those out every once in a while to look things over and sink in to Paragon City/Rogue Isles from the "upper tier" hero/villain perspective - and this especially during the "quiet years" of '13-'19.  I was especially pleased by the fact that the writers/artists gave each one of the Freedom Phalanx a distinctive personality (often quite a problematic one) and problem-solving style, and also carried across the potentially world-altering powers that Recluse commanded, rather than maintaining the (necessary) online balance that must be preserved in the name of having a real MMPOG, rather than individual player story arcs.

When I first joined up here, June 2021, I inquired about the possibility of resuming hardcopy publishing; although the likelihood is rather low, I would like to see even an online effort made, probably through here, and which might be along the lines of the much-appreciated and fondly remembered City of Zeroes that, simultaneously and so effectively, satirized and celebrated CoX and its online expression/restrictions.  Would be wonderful to have an online resource for that series...

Oh, I agree. While the original series was fun advertising tie-in, it was a little weak on the story-telling side.

I guess I'll need to dig mine out and see what I still have of them. I doubt they'll ever be worth anything, but it is a fun reminder.

It's a shame that we can't build that type of community (City of Zeroes) again and have it like it was, but such is the state of MMOs, I guess?

On the other hand, having dealt with the dark side of the community, I'm not missing that...

When I see posts like this, I must have been living in a bubble on CoH.

Be glad you were. My day consisted of tells telling me to die and leave the game. Heck, they even harassed a friend of mine because they thought it was me.

Sadly, the mod (some beverage name) didn't seem too concerned about it.

I loved the game, but didn't have much respect for the community after that.

Anyway, if you're still on now, I'm in Excelsior every couple of days or so. Look for Grimm Raven.

  12. I'm on Excelsior, and I'll team up with you.

Look for Grimm Raven. I'm only level 23, but I want to level fast, but still enjoy the missions, if that makes sense?

I've found some decent groups, so far.

I'm enjoying CoH redux more than the first in many ways.

  13. I'm late to the reunion, but I was a former Champion player.

I was on the board some, but due to the never-ending drama and the serial harassers that were given carte blanche, I quit using the boards.

I was skeptical about joining this, as my first experience in CoH involved death threats on a daily basis, but so far it seems like the right people are here and I'll check this out for a few weeks.

I don't remember my character names anymore. I quit playing sometime after capes were introduced and well before CoV.

Look for me on Excelsior some time.
