  1. The islands will have opportunity for those bold and strong enough to grab them , if you however feel , let us say, insecure, about your mastery over magik or whicever other parlour trick you call power. . . . . then the big heroes city will be better for you.. . . . .one thing you should`ve learned tho if you were ever amongst the powers division, power is a path one threads alone.....sure you can have allies here and there, but if you intend to seek the path to power, then you will be alone most of your time.

    OOC stuff:

    Name: Helios Drachenys

    Current Age: 20ish

    Affiliation: Powers division

    Alignment: Rogue

Powers: Necromancy/ Time (but he has multiple versions of himself with different powersets)

Personality: Helios is power hungry but loyal, he believes that all debts must be paid so he repays loyalty with loyalty and treachery with death, he enjoys experimenting with magic (which he calls magiks to differentiate it from the random powers and parlour tricks you can see around), he tends to be cold and dont use many words unless its to talk about magic and he is always up for benefits, be it power, money or rare magical stuff, he doesn`t enjoy being the center of attention as an introvert and will mainly group up with other when there is something to be gained or a debt to be repaid.

Inspiration: I use him a lot on PnP, he was a really good Mage the Ascencion Hermetic order character for many years, but currently he mostly make appearances in DnD 5e (my group is old now and dont want overcomplicated systems :D) , normaly as a Conquest Paladin, or Hexblade or Draconic Sorcerer (or all of those if the mood strikes and DM allows)

    Notes:

The idea is to go filling his bio as he goes thru the Arcs in praetoria and beyond, walk up RPs with him are welcome and so are invites for parties and other helps, he is still sort of a concept and blank slate so how he evolves will depend more on his interactions with the world.

    Prologue

A vita ad mortem (From life to Death)

Ahhh, life, nothing like growing up and enjoying each of the moments it provides, from childhood games, the loves of youth, the conquests of adult life and the peace of old age, a complete cycle desired by each and every human being common.

That was how Helios lived his life, born in the 1940s, after a great war and with the incredible gift of commonality, like most humans, Helios never thought that his world would be almost completely devastated.

His childhood and adolescence were common, a loving family, a school, friends and hidden and platonic loves, his life was not perfect, but it was cozy, that was until he was about 20 years old.

    Terra Devoratrix (Earth that Devours)

It all started as rumors, horrendous creatures that emerged from the earth and attacked humans, entities that seemed to be made of the world around them, plants created lives and many theories that those entities were only there to clean mother earth from the virus that were the humans which had spread across Earth.

An unprecedented war where little could be done, nuclear fire painted the skies, destroyed the earth and stained the waters, but still nothing proved effective, only the intervention of Emperor Cole and his Praetors managed to stagnate and create a safe environment for humanity to take refuge.

And it was in the middle of this refuge that Helios and his family developed, Helios ended up becoming a scout during the height of the Hamidon war and in one of his missions to find supplies he came across a person's corpse, but different from normal the exposed bones of that person were white and pale, almost as if made of quartz or some other crystal and emanated a very strong golden aura, his injuries did not appear to have been caused by the devouring Earth but by fists and next to his body, a diary.

    Magister Magus

A diary containing the experiences of that man, Riei Arkanus, a powerful magus from another universe and with dimensional theories that seemed like fiction, even in a world where people with superpowers walked everywhere, the more Helios studied the more fascinated diary, necromancy, demonology, elementalism, shamanism, entropism, different schools of magic all introduced there in that diary that although thin, seemed to have no end, but among the schools that Riei had studied, one stood out in the sphere of dimensional magic.

Riei was not an ordinary Magus, his objective went beyond the traditional eternal life, his main hypothesis involved some steps, first, to alter his soul inherently, making his multiple copies in multiple realities all, awaken to magic at some point and in a second moment, to allow all souls and powers to condense themselves into a single persona, in this way he could “suddenly” acquire mastery over several types of powers at the same time.

Cole, however, upon discovering this intruder in his world, ended up chasing and annihilating the magus who managed to escape to Hamidon's territory where he ended up dying and leaving his legacy behind.

The plan was sensible and had basically almost ended, Riei had already prepared everything to "awaken" his copies to magic and needed a last resort, a "drop from the well", which according to the diary, was diluted in it to allow their channeling.

One thing Riei however forgot to mention in the diary, is that magic is never free, a wish will always be fulfilled for a price and while Helios performed the ritual to awaken their souls and unite them, his house was surrounded by Praetors, his family wiped out the last thing the now adult Helios could see was a burst of energy piercing his chest.

A morte in vitam (From death to life)

Souls awoke, consciousness came together, but not in the expected way, Helios was thrown into the cycle of reincarnation, his new soul strengthened to the point of allowing him to retain all of his magical knowledge throughout life but only with fragments of his memories. In past lives, his personality has become cold and ambitious, wanting to perfect magic and recover his experiences, but none of this has been very successful.

Their lives have been many since then, their cycle of reincarnation disrespects the flow of time and because of that, Helios has gone through different dimensions in different ages, learned different arcane models, managing to execute them without many difficulties. . . . but never at the same time, even your body can handle only a few spheres of magic simultaneously.

Finally reborn in Nova Praetoria as a member of the division of powers, Helios, with the few fragments of memory that he has from his first life, knows that he needs to acquire enough power to protect himself but without drawing the attention of his enemies and for that, he intends to use Cole's own system as a springboard, starting with that idiot. . . "Praetor White".

  3. So, good news and bad news

First the good news is, I m going with thermal, and it is working nicely!!!

bad news. . . thermal goes really bad visually with demons. . . . . they have their own fire animations. . . . it does however, looks AMAZING With Necro!!!

Purple Flaming zombies . . . . .very cool, chill and thematically accurate for my character. . . .

So Ive redone him as a necro / thermal and came up with the following build. . .. any help on optimizing it is appreciated!!

    Necro Thermal - Mastermind (Necromancy).mxd

I soloed the ITF on +1 with demons/nature. I really love that combo. Better debuffs and damage than /EA with barely any loss in survivability.

If I were going to pair it with anything else for soloing I would do thermal.

I did eye nature tbh.  .. .  one question tho, how do you deal with regen from AVs?

Also, do you use that first power at all? (it seemed a waste to me that the first power on a healing focused set is actually a damaging cone)

I have to be honest. I love /Dark so much, I have several of them. But I wish you the best with whatever secondary you choose! There are many good ones to choose from!  I like the recommendation about /Rad, too.  But for Necro, I really really like to double down on the control aspect of Necro with a secondary that has some controls to add to it. Plus the debuffages.

I know /dark is pretty strong, it just didnt click with me . . . . Im much more of a buff and attack than control.

Trying thermal so far and it works good. will prolly be the first MM I take an attack on tho since I do have quite a bit of free time (managing pets is sort of easy with my keybinds on mouse lateral buttons)

Might try storm later to see it 😄

    Thanks !!!!

I have a demons/cold and demons/storm that are both survivable solo and a lot of fun. Demons/cold was a little squishy through the leveling process, but once you get the 32 upgrade and the demons get all their buffs and heals, things start to level out some. Definitely seems to need slotting to get really beastly as my level 50 barely slotted demons/cold is no AV/GM killer yet.

I have a baby necro/nature MM that's level 17ish that seems like it should be fun as I keep going on her. Necro/Thermal is good too, but a bit dull; I recommend taking personal attacks/pool powers if you go that route.

How do you deal with cold`s lack of heal ? to keep the pets alive that is.

Also, how would it compare to thermal? I believe cold is defense right? wouldnt it pair badly with demons as they are resist?

    thanks!

  7. Hello All!

I am mainly a Mastermind player here, and really like both demons and necro primaries(for RP Purposes mainly)

But Im struggling with which secondary do pick!

I really enjoy the capability to kill stuff(with the pets) while surviving to tell the tale, but to a lesser degree than a /FF MM which is utterly boring. . . . .

So far Ive tried demons/time (works but not as much as Id like), Demons/Dark (thematically I love the combo, but Im more a "buff to survive" than a "debuff to make enemies miss" so /dark sadly doesnt work for me.

tried /sonic but the lack of a heal on early game is a major problem for me (Im not rich to deck the character at level 10)

Thats when I started looking at other options

/Thermal seens nice, and so is /EA(But Im afraid EA will be overly cliky and get in the way of me controlling the pets)

    tl;dr

What would be a good secondary for Demons and / or Necro to make them able to solo TFs and other endgame stuff without problems at higher difficulty levels (+4x8 or as close to that as possible)

    Thanks!!!

  8. I never tried this combo, but FF is typically a dull and boring set.... pairing it with a low AoE set like necromancy. . . .I have to ask, do you have any sleep problemss you want to fix? cause you will fall asleep!!!

    Jk tho.

FF is one of the best sets for  survivability and zombies also are nice with their self healz, it would pair well I guess, just dont expect to kill large packs of monsters fast.

altough if you want to kick ass with zombies, I`d recommend /dark, /thermal , / cold or even /sonic

    or go bots/FF or demons/FF

  9. First and foremost look for the IO auras , it will give a lot of defense and resistance to your pets, which will make them sturdier

Second, try to pair the sets with their strenghts, like, zombies go well with things that increasee their resistance(like sonic or thermal), ninjas do great with defense sets ssuch as time.

Third, try using demons, or bots, they are more durable. . . thugs are great at damage and so are ninjas(but they`re actually paper ninjas who die when enemies sneezes without the correct build), zombies from necromancy are bad at AoEs, but at 32 every pet there has a life leech attack (and their boss monsters is a lich who act as a dark controller)

ohh and avoid mercs, sadly its way underpowered compared to others.

If you want to last forever, go with Forcefields as secondary, you and your pets will survive, I guarantee, only thing that will kill you is boredom....

Also, you will always have to do a resummon here and there, of course, not as much as  you`re describing, but, its part of the job

Really Sura!!!! We are going to have to talk about this.....

Next thing your going to say is put KB to KD IO in Sonic Repulsion and turn off the volume.

    Cap resistant pet and player

    Pet heal them selves

    Def cap S/L

    Massive  res de buffs

    KD crowd control

    cool glow on pets

WHO WANTS THIS STUFF everyone go back to your /time character pls

and lets be real people hate us on teams because they can't hear themselves.

"what's that you want me to turn it off"

    fight-club-gif.gif

Do you have a build for this?

Been wanting to find a good secondary for my necro, so far sonic`s main problem has been a lack of aoe healing, I suppose it gets better at 32 with their self heal, but untill them, Im running with zombies made of paper apparently.

  11. Sooo, Ive been playing around with MMs lately and really wanted to make a demonic summoner/

Problem is, I dont know what to pick as a secondary!

Out of the options, time, dark, thermal, force field and nature are the ones I am eyeing.

Which of these would make the best MM for soloing +4x8 and any TFs, AVs and such?(I play in groups mainly but I really want this character to be my main and consequentially a character capable of soloing anything)  also which patron/epic pool?

If possible a build would help too 😄

PS: Tried already a time and a dark, both works well but none are past 40 yet.

    Thanks for the help!!!

    Empowered Undead:
+Auto Passive, pulsing every 10seconds to rebuff any missed or newly created pets.

I would love to have the upgrade abilities as a passive that auto upgraded your pets. Having to spend your end just to upgrade them feels backwards.

Would also love for some love to necro and other underperforming sets.

but specially necro, some of the choices there are too bad on the pets (zombies vomits and overall a complete lack of any sort of aoe comes to mind)

the passive buffs I dont think would work tho,  would need to evaluatee how many MM we have concurrently on the server as to not overflood it with requests every  10 secs for buffing.
