  1. Wow, this sounds terrific!  Thanks for all you do, Homecoming.  Even though I only play on Homecoming, I'm still happy to hear that other CoX server projects are being welcomed into the fold if possible in the future.  It's a positive, embracing attitude for you to employ, and it all bodes well for any NCsoft negotiations underway.  A General CoX NCsoft launcher featuring all CoX server projects-- with server types, features and goals listed next to each project-- would be fantastic, as long as each team agreed to NCsoft's required professional behavior and performance.

Imagine what this could do for shuttered MMOs in the future, too!  NCsoft and Homecoming could be ushering in a whole new way to continue to service MMO gamers as their fav games age and would otherwise be shuttered.  🙋‍♀️

  2. I'm really glad CoX is finally back for everyone who wants to play it now, for the first time in seven years.  I'm also glad the sniper nerfs were rolled back on the beta server.

I wish the Homecoming team would stop constantly nerfing things and attempting to nerf other things.  Running private servers is one thing. Slowly hacking away at CoX until it bears less and less resemblance to the game we all loved (the reason we are even here) isn't cool.  Driving lots of players away to other CoX private servers isn't going to do too many favors for Homecoming's server populations, either.

  3. FYI:  People could choose whatever they wanted to do most before the XP nerfs to DFB, too-- which is why so many chose DFB.  :P

Homecoming, you are starting to become the Fun Police, and it's starting to get a little worrisome.  With the AE nerfs I could see it more because actual hardware was being negatively affected, but nerfing DFB just makes you look bad.

I'm still really glad to have CoX back, but I'd hate to see lots of players start leaving for other CoX private servers in droves because the Control Freaks have taken over.  They're nerfing the fun right out of CoX while trying to force everyone to play their way.

This is why people avoid private servers:  Because they wind up shambling zombie rezzes of formerly great MMORPGs, hacked up every which way, when everybody should just leave well enough alone.

  4. Thank you so much for all the team is doing, and I hope all goes well with further hardware configurations and optimizations.  To have such a hard-working, transparent team donating so much of their own personal time to bringing our city back, and doing a better job every day with that, is more than any hero (or villain, or rogue lol) could ask!

  5. Before Bree server was wiped I remember feeling elated and that I had come home. Relearning old powersets was fun and got me thinking about all the stuff I didn't get to do before shut down. I was grateful for the chance to play COH again.

Now the feeling is more mixed. I appreciate what the volunteers are doing and trying to be patient but sometimes its hard. I feel like the kid in the candy store trying to get a treat that is just out of reach. I just want to play.

The code is out there.  Start your own server.

Personally, CoX  was one of my fav games of all time.  I would keep coming back even if there was as much lag and as many disconnects as there were on Bree and Torchbearer when they first went up, lol.  I am so grateful, not only for the chance to play CoX again, but because the team is continually striving for more improvements.  My family moved to Indomitable, which overall runs exceptionally well.  We have characters on all 4 servers, though, for when it doesn't.

    Thanks again, team!

  6. Thank you once again to the awesome team at Homecoming!  Not only is it fantastic to be back playing, but server performance has gotten outrageously better in what, just about a week?  I was there for opening night on Torchbearer, and you know what?  Even if CoX was still as super-laggy and crashing as it was at first, I'd still be there playing!  The fact that it's not (on Indomitable, anyway, where my family and friends and I moved to), and that there are four servers now, just makes it all the more amazing.

Thanks again, and God bless you all!

  7. im trying to make a new character cuz its happened all day to all the heroes i've tried to play

Just an FYI, I've tried to do that on Excelsior twice tonight for the same reason, but after a few minutes in Atlas with each new toon I get flung off anyway.  Then I get the same "still logging out" error on the new ones that all my previous characters get whenever I try to log them back in (even if they haven't been played in hours).

  8. I have 2 characters stuck ingame, I got on and the game crashed while playing them and now I can't get on them because it says theyre "logging out" still, anyone else having this issue?

Yes; I get this message that they're still logging out, even if I haven't played them in hours.  However, whenever it flings me back to the login screen after trying to get on with one of them, I don't have to wait through the queue again (only the first time I logged on).  So that's something anyway.  It's just I still can't get in-game anyway, because my characters are "trapped, still logging out" hours later.

    Thanks for making this thread!

As usual, though, I'm so excited and thrilled to be back in CoX that I can't complain.  This team has been stellar in responding to problems, and I'm continually amazed how they are able to put up new servers to try and meet the load.  Their communication is way better than most live, published MMORPG teams give, too!

    Thanks, CoH: Homecoming!

  9. You might like it, but was in queue for 3 hours and STILL had 758 people ahead of me.  I like the idea of the queue, but afkers need to be kicked faster.  Some people might be able to wait 4-5 hours to play, unfortunately I do not.

3 hours would have been great i just did a 6 hour wait to DB as soon as I selected my toon, figured this was going to be my luck ...FML

Yeah, I was in line for 3 hours to get onto Excelsior, chose my toon and immediately got flung off to account login without even a load screen, lol.  Now I'm #1342 again, so I just closed down.  Nighty night all!

Early weekday mornings and I are going to become very friendly with CoX methinks.

  10. Okay, I'm not mad at all about this, I just think it's funny.  However, I waited in a queue for Excelsior for 3 hours, finally just got in now, picked the character I was previously using, and immediately got flung back to the login screen, rofl.  It didn't even *try* to load into the game.  Just an FYI for the team there.  And I logged back in just for kicks, and am now #1342.

Nighty night folks!  I just closed down the game, so Mister/Ms # 1343 just went down by one #.

Ah, it's so great to have this game back again, though.  And man is my home cleaner!

  11. I think it is a definite improvement over everyone constantly lagging out and crashing off the servers over and over.

And besides, this is one of our fav MMOs that came back from the dead after *seven years,* and it's *free to play* at this point.

We're testers!  Don't forget that!  It's just that right now, we're testing the queue system.  And it's working well:  I haven't been flung out of the queue yet at any rate, and my # in the queue keeps going down.  You should have seen it when LoTRO's Time Locked Progession servers launched a few months ago.  My position in that queue (which was even worse than here) didn't budge for over 8 hours, I kid you not!

Do you know how hard it is to pick up someone else's code and run with it, never mind the spaghetti code that is CoX?  It's darned near impossible! And look at this team:  They're doing it!

I love them.  And the queue forces me to be productive in between gaming sessions, and actually more efficient in my household chores so that I get them done faster.  I never know when I will be able to get back on again, after all, lol.

  12. 507/1492 Excelsior, and thanks again, server Admins, coders and crew:  My home has never looked cleaner.

Grats on getting CoX up and running so swiftly, bringing in many thousands more people every day than I'll bet you imagined would ever come, and being so successful!

  13. Maybe both?

Proud because both servers have a 1000 player queue, showing how much this game is missed, and how big the community is...

Sad because both servers have a 1000 player queue, meaning I don't get to play this game I missed so much.

Er, Newsflash:  Torchbearer has a 2300+ queue.  Excelsior is only at 1363 in comparison.

  14. I mean, it's showcasing pretty solidly that there is a major demand for the game yet. Game's been dark since 2012...and yet we've got 2000+ player queues to get in.

    That's...impressive.

Right?  Blizzard, Daybreak, Standing Stone, Square Enix and Zenimax would all kill for those kinds of queues, hehe.

Thanks again, Admins, coders et al, we love you soooooo much, and this has been the best month I've had in years.  Big hugs.
