what's the typical beta testing cycle for powersets?
supersonick replied to supersonick's topic in Open Beta Testing
thanks. i'm just dying to play it. i love ice/water power stuff across all super hero stuff so MA is like... the dream set for my defender. i've played it just a little bit in open beta and it's so so so so so sooooo fun! ugh. can't wait! -
Luck of the Gamlber, recharge reduct: why would i only get 5 of those bonuses? I thought global recharge was capped at 80% total? (i could be mistaken af) thanks for the additional info here. maybe i just need side +DEF powers to make it work later on. I thematically love the set but just struggling to want to play it due to the insane trouble i'm currently having with it.

i feel you, but the leveling experience is a part of my core gameplay. So if ice can't level very well, it's a junk set in my opinion. this is another common theme with this set i hear. "OMG my mega-IO'd tanker is so good!" Yeah, but a blaster that is mega-IO'd can also tank soem content. if a set needs 500mill inf to be good, it's just not good IMO.

Title. I feel like i'm taking crazy pills. Everyone says ice is a great tanking set, and i want to use it on a brute. I want an interactive tanking set (not a toggle-on, forget it set, such as Invul/WP etc. i have those already). But i'm in the mid 20's and i've played countless brutes. Ice tanking seems to be the set that dies the easiest. All my other brutes can solo on 4x +0 with just single original enhancements. My ice brutes? Die on 3x +0 with team support in my group. What's up? What am i doing wrong? I'm chaining energy absorption, i'm keeping hoarfrost up and using it to heal as well to maximize survivability. I'm running all the toggles. I'm slotted. I even have a little extra defense from staff/titan weapon builds i've tried. still seems to suck. doesn't matter what villain group i fight, i just die. When i ask the /help channel people just say "energy absorption is awesome!" and "i'm so good at tanking energy damage" but that doesn't address general survivability. saying "i'm so good at tanking energy damagee" is like saying "i'm so good, 5% of the time." When i look at the defense stats on the power monitor, i see that i have the most defense to Smashing/Lethal and Fire/Cold at around 25%. So when i go shopping for Attuned IOs, i'm looking for more S/L and Fire/Cold bonuses i can stack on that, but there doesn't seem to be much i can find. Should i slot for Ranged/Melee/AoE Defense, and not the "damage type" instead? I don't expect my brute to be the tankiest tank, that's for tankers to do. But i expect to be able to tank for my groups on 6x +0 difficulty because literally every other brute i play can do that. I really want to play ice, i love the theme. Someone point me down the right path, and don't just "link a build" but just explain the basics as to what i need to be doing and what to expect. thanks heroes

i'm peeing my pants waiting for the Marine Affinity set to roll to live servers so i can play it! I've been playing it on beta, but i don't get overly invested in testing it a lot because i want it to feel fresh when i play it live. What's the ballpark testing time on powersets moving from Beta to live? i just saw the beta update today saying "release candidate 1" is this a process that is days, weeks, months on average? any insight? i tried googling this bfore posting but couldn't find timelines in my results. -
Angel of Storms / Onyx Rose here! Are my old buddies around?

I can't remember which server I was playing on, but i was once part of a fun tight knit SG. I believe our leader was maaaaybe named Captain Paragon. We had a Earth/Kinetics Controller who played with us, and our resident Energy/Energy Blaster, Dirge was always with us as well. I was the first defender on roster, playing Angel of Storms (Storms Def). I eventually rolled up a ForceFields defender, Onyx Rose. I ran a million people through the Respec Taskforce when it came out. Forcefields was so effective prior to the enhancement/diminishing return nerf that I could take anyone through the respec TF so i became server famous for helping peopel out when the TF for respec was released. I wish i could remember more but i can't! Miss you guys! If anyone from this old group is around, i'm here and looking for you guys! @Last Paladin is my global! -
Youtube link - https://youtu.be/8FNCZumjmdM video you see here is a lvl 27 Defender, using only Single Origin enhancers, and poorly slotted at that. still seems to do great Marine Affinity seems really, REALLY good as a defender set. I tried it has IceBlast/Marine Corruptor and found survivability to be less, but of course, over all control to be much stronger. the overall set is SUPER fun. The move that lets you teleport to the enemies and knock them down is very fun. Water Blasting is a perfect match up as well as it adds more knockdown, and self healing from Dehydrate. The sets sound effects are cool, but on the other hand, the constant "dolphin sound" is a bit much. they need to lower the amount the sound effect fires off IMO. but if they don't, to me, it's tolerable and fine. i did NOT have the power, Brine, which would have helped with the LT/Boss damage you see towards the end. i did NOT have any form of endurance reduction slotted, but with IO's and smarter slotting, this set would do just fine. with recharge reduction from globals/set bonuses, this set would be bananas i think Brace yourselves for Aquaman rip-offs. But the good news is, you'll love teaming with this set. you'll do a lot more damage with Marine Affinity on your team, and you'll have some healing and +DmgAbsorb/+EndRegen/+HPRegan/+DmgResist. Every team will love this set AMA! or log onto beta yourselves and check it out. I would not be suprised if there were nerfs to the set before it's released. it struck me as VERY strong, and again, i'm only using SOs at lvl 27. Does anyone know how long, on average, a power set sits on beta before it moves to live?
