I'm one of those new players (Hello). I've played Champions Online, STO and Neverwinter for years. I always wanted to play COH but it had shut down just as I got into gaming, and I was always iffy about playing on a rogue server. So I was really pleased to hear the game is now properly licensed, and I just had to come and try it out. After I'd got past my first few hours (very much in the WTF zone, as they are with every game) I've found myself really enjoying it. It's both familiar and different, and there's loads of content to play, alts. to build, lots of teaming etc in-game; if the team running it take care of new players (and I hear there are plenty of changes upcoming) then it looks like a really nice game world to be in. Well done everyone who has kept the place running and made it legit!
