  1. I remember being able to ride on car tops as they were going down the street, as a blaster, a noob demanded I heal him...having to take one tram into each area then having to transfer to the "Other one"...I remember there only being ONE tram in each area IE SC,SC ect...I do not remember a level cap of 40 as one poster did and I do not remember which issue we started playing the game but it was less than 10...I remember scrappers being close to God mode.

  2. Share your favorite (and least favorite) memories of the way CoH used to be.

    I remember when...

...everyone frantically tried to obtain as many Accolades as possible as early as possible, because if you exemplared below the level you got the Accolade you lost access to its power.

Ohhhhh ya I remember that...kind of simmered down after like 15 or so.

...people frantically buttonholed everyone they met trying to see if someone had one of those darned badge missions that they somehow missed out on at a lower level.

...it used to be possible to herd the half a map worth of Warwolves into a dumpster at one time.

...the Positron TF was this ungodly slog that nobody ever wanted to do, and Synapse wasn't much better. (Synapse still isn't that much better...)

    What do you remember?

  3. Well....Ummm...Ya well, I have had my share of Characters not completed on the old servers...I did get quite a few up to 50...a scrapper, a blaster and even a peace bringer...all with the help of dedicated COH friends...I admit, I have made A LOT of characters on the Justin here...The people and powers that be totally pissed me off when they nerfed scrappers on the original servers...whinny complaining people.. if you did not want OP characters, leveling from rooftops, either dont do it or find a different character or game to play...there was no PVP that I remember back in those days...the nerve of those folks but I digress. here I can just keep creating and deleting those nasty little buggers until I find the perfect Character... and I have done my fair share of trying is all I will admit to!!!!!

  4. I had never heard about it until yesterday, so when I did, I voted for Homecoming.  I'm sure many others playing here had not heard about it either.  It seems like something intentionally designed to make it look like Homecoming is actually the least popular, to persuade new players who wouldn't know better to go other servers instead.  If so, I don't care for the tactic, and hopefully anyone who falls for it will realize the truth fairly quick.

Just think...just a few short weeks ago, all of us were just wishing ONE server would appear and we could play again...now it has progressed to servers popping up all over the place and dirty tactics to get people to their servers...good times

  5. I have started many new characters on the open shard just to make sure I am correct before posting this...I have to use whatever enhancements are given to me without buying even training to be able to fully cover the cost of level 20 DO's it NEVER costed that much when NCSuck had the product...I admit if I bought one too many back then I would run short but NEVER had a shortage from buying training upto level 17 then switching over to 20 DO enhancements...I cant imagine what I would get if I went to founders falls and bought SO enhancements...

  6. I have stated this before but the tabbing system is so broken I am getting deaths by aggroing multiple mob groups...when you tab you expect the next mob to go closest to you, instead I am sending pets half way across the map after groups I never intended them to even if there are mobs close to my fighting position...please fix

  7. XP and infamy rewards from killing a mob are based on the percent of the enemy's life you damage.

If an enemy is standing in a fire patch and goes down to 25% health, and you kill it - you only get 25% of the XP and Inf, even if no other player attacked it. If you and another player (Not on your team) each do 50% damage to a mob, each of you get 50% XP and Inf.

That said, 'kill stealing' is a super minor thing to be upset about in this game because you'll both get mission credit for defeated enemies and even if someone does tag a mob you almost have killed, you'll still get the bulk of the credit and be able to move on to other enemies that much faster. Even then, it's rarely ever worth grinding outdoor mobs for XP/Inf versus just doing newspaper/scanner missions. The only real reason I could see that you'd want to farm specific enemies in an outdoor area is to farm salvage drops, and those are so random it seems like it's better to just do missions and buy what you need from the AH.

If you are on a team, the XP and Inf is shared no matter what - otherwise defenders and healers would get shafted.

Sometimes, in some areas, there are missions for outdoor stuff that are simply limited. A few that I can think of off the top of my head are many of the 'Kill X enemies of Y type' missions, such as Agent Carter's missions in Mercy (Kill 15 longbow, destroy 5 legacy chain runes, etc) or the anti-Vahzilok missions in Atlas Park where you have to find and kill several of them outside a charity event. Sometimes those specific enemies are easy to find in groups, other times they're semi-rare or not spawning for whatever reason. In those instances, getting mad that someone else hit an enemy you're fighting seems a bit petty. Yes, they took a tiny fraction of the reward from you - but they're just trying to get past that mission same as you. Sooner or later your contact will be giving you an indoor mission that nobody else can access unless they're on your team, so you can move at your own pace and not worry about it.

It does not matter why it is done...it does not even matter who gets the kill...it is RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL and there is NO excuse for it...you can attempt to justify the behavior if you want to, but it is still not acceptable behavior online. If you are in that big of a hurry, maybe online gaming is not the place for you!

  8. I really do not remember but I usually level my chars every three or four levels... I do not do as much damage as those that go back and level as soon as they are able to but it is still rude for those that do so...I do not know if they are thinking they are just helping or actually trying to grief the player already engaged...but this is just a friendly reminder to those few that have done so already in the few short days I have played here that it is not acceptable online behavior.

  9. New people to online gaming and a few that have been around...joining in killing a mob when you have not been asked, or are not on a party with the person killing a set of mobs is called Kill Stealing and is GREATLY frowned upon by most players. I realize you might think you are helping but please do not do so. You may "Need that mob to complete your mission, go find another set as it is rude and disrespectful to the player already engaged with the set of mobs. Thank You

  10. As much as I appreciate all of the hard dedicated work this core group has accomplished in bringing back the game...I am hoping they bring back the V side of the game...what is there now seems like a player made creation and while it is great... it still is not city of villains...I am not a sewer dweller.

  11. When attempting to tab to a mob, it will usually place the highlight on the farthest mob away from my position...instead of the nearest...I do not remember a toggle or switch in options to correct this so I believe it is a bug.
