    Also I hate the US system of copyright laws and how far it has run afield of what it was intended to be, a system that metered out when things would enter public domain for the enrichment of people and society as a whole. Instead it's this bloated corpse of thing that makes sure copyright holders, their children and estates, can profit long beyond their lifetimes and often stifles innovation in science and medical sciences, as well as overall in information flow (re: Zika virus and academic journals). 

     

    Burn it down, I say in my off-time when I'm not working within it as I must.

    Frankly, I wish a franchise would enter Public Domain 2-5 years after going Out of Publication or the last installment in a franchise. Let the Disney corporation keep its mouse. Let City of Heroes fly free to the world.

    It's not a recolored image of Darkwing Duck.  It is related to the Darkwing Duck franchise, though.  Learn your supervillains, jeez.

     

    Nor am I seeking to make anything resembling profit off of it or a service.  Once I manage to get a good screenshot of my main, I will replace it.  End of the school year is a busy time for me right now.

    Nope.  It is a picture of a character from Disney's IP, true.  Violation tends to be a bit more gray as a Disney employee didn't actually create this specific picture, and it is not for profited use.

Someone created the picture in the likeness of a Disney character, much as players can create costumes in the likeness of Marvel superheroes in this game, and it's not being used for any of the exceptions used under Fair Use (criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research)

    IMO, I think we will see servers that do things no one here has contemplated for some time - free form power choices anyone? Sounds delicious.

     

    Okay... I TOTALLY read that as "free porn power choices", and my mind went completely nuts... for about 20 seconds. MmcrG7p.gif

     

    Now that does sound like my kind of server!

     

    We should totally design this as an entire set now... Groin Controller with a Body Buffing secondary perhaps...

    If I had the inclination to run a server, I would have made one that required everyone to play a naked catgirl.

    Coming fom the other side on why auras/capes shouldn't be prestige items - It feels like you have to earn them to be part of the 'cool kids club", even if your character concept doesn't call for such extravagance. It puts undo importance on certain elements that may not be called for, but feels bad not using after earning.

    It isn't saying "suck it up"? It isn't forcing others to "accept" their help? Interesting...

    "Suck it up" is neither arguing, nor forcing someone to do something. It's an assertion of right-of-way. And no, it's not 'forcing' them to do anything, either. Being Helped is not an action, much less one that can be forced.
