  1. One thing I notice right off is that you are comparing range and melee classes together. Classes that have to fight in melee range benefit a lot more than classes that can hover above the enemy and not worry about melee attacks. Even not counting what I just mentioned, there are controllers, defender even mastermind builds that can get 45 or higher defense to everything pretty easy. This is also not counting defense things like holds and other things that stop all damage when applied. I have some problems with some of the individual AT's, but I don't think we need either a full defense overhaul or general damage increase to all AT's.

  2. I very often use proc builds, why not? The only problem I have with procs is in the OP's actual statement, they are not game design as they are. Procs heavily favor AT's that have a low damage modifier. So something like Tankers, Defenders and others with low damage modifiers get much more benefit than say Scrappers. What this means is if you are going to allow the procs like they are used in the game today, then the damage modifiers of all the AT's that get disproportionate advantage from them should be modified. But when you do this, then the people using those AT's that don't use procs will suffer greatly. I don't really have an answer for how to fix it, and to be honest it doesn't really affect me in actually gameplay that I care too much either way, fix it or leave it, I'm good with both.

Weirdly I'm dumping it for Placate. Find it hopelessly bad, breaks far too easily to be of use.

If I were to suggest a fix I'd go for 50% DDR when Geoded up so it's not Hibernate levels of immunity but it also doesn't shatter like an egg every time I try and use it.

I agree, for any 4/8 content or really anything that is actually hard Geode is worthless, it will be broken almost instantly. I have Stone armor builds of almost everything that can have stone and never take it. I tried it when it first appeared and found it to be one of the most disappointing replacements the Homecoming team put on an AT. It was supposed to be a replacement for Granite because Granite was considered too strong, but whoever on the team made this decision dropped the ball. It is probably the weakest level 9 power on any of the melee AT's. Don't let that get you down though, Stone is actually a great set, in fact my favorite. And you can actually get higher defense values on the Stalker Stone than the Scrapper one.

  4. Best answer is, let the tank know you have Fold Space and intend to follow him around and use on new spawn areas. You use fold space, he taunts when enemies appear, at that point he should be able to keep aggro for the short time it takes to kill the close spawn. The Bosses and AV's won't be teleported by fold space, but they will come running anyway. To be clear though, Fold Space is such a great power for a tank I take it on all my tanks, solo or group oriented. It is probably the best power available to a Tank that can survive the aggro.

  5. I would personally say a Tank. Take Super Reflex or Willpower, and any secondary power you want, Dark might be good for the small heal it offers to keep you topped off. Then taker Fold Space from the teleport pool, Fold Space will port all the minions to your location so you don't have to hunt, and at the same time it will aggro everything else to you. Then just wander around unkillable, porting all the enemies to you while others kill them. Other than hitting fold space every once in a while, you could probably go to sleep.

  6. As others have said, SR. You said your build is going to mostly be SO's for now, and I think you can reach your survival goals the easiest with SR on SO's only vs other options. It will also take the fewest SO's leaving you more spots to place SO's in your attacks. Just a note for your first build here, I would pair SR with Dark, Dark will give you a heal to keep your health topped off from the 5% or so of attacks that do get through. Also, SR/Dark has a pretty easy and simple rotation that will help with your mobility issues.

  7. I personaly don't farm but from every thing I have read Rad/Spines is equal to or better than Fire/spines at farms and being Rad it should be very easy to build out side of a pure fire farmer.

You don't read as much but they are definatly out there on bio/ farmers. Personally just based on popularity for an all around farmer I would go with Rad/Fire

I was deeply curious how sentinel players themselves felt about the sentinel. I have fun with it from time to time but I really wondered... Beyond a suggestion thread or random murmerings here and there...
If you COULD decide the fate of the entire Archetype and how it was approached, balanced or changed. What would you choose?

And I think that would yield more interesting results numerically than a thread of suggestions. So I'm posting this poll here.

I would not do any of these, I would simply increase their damage so they are closer to Blaster,Scrapper etc... . I would still let them be last, just a lot closer.

  9. for others that may not know

    Powexec_Location:
Added /powexec_location, a client-side slash command to allow use of location targeted powers without having to click.

    Usage: /powexec_location loc power
loc is a location specifier. There's several different things you can use here:
me or self - Both target the power on yourself.

target - Your currently selected target. If you have no target, the power is not activated.

direction:distance - direction can either be one of six cardinal directions relative to the player: forward, back, left, right, up, down, -or- it can be a number. If it's a number, it is taken as an angle in degrees. 0 is straight in front of you, 90 is right, etc. It can also be camera, to indicate the direction the camera is facing, including elevation.
distance is either a number in world units (feet), or the keyword max, which means to use the maximum range of the power.

power is the name of the power, just like what you'd use with /powexec_name. You can put quotes around the name to make it look cleaner if you want, but they are optional.

    Useful examples:
    /powexec_location me Fire Imps
    /powexec_location target Tar Patch
    /powexec_location camera:max Teleport
Redirector powers will no longer accidentally be flagged as NearGround.

IF I remember correctly, there is a bind that uses powexeclocation that can instantly TP backward (use to avoid danger for mods, for instance). I cannot remember what exactly it is but when I tried: /bind CTRL+Leftdoubleclick “powexeclocation back:max teleport”, I do a 180’ turn but teleport to the exact same location where I am standing.

But when I use “...up:max...”, it works perfectly and teleport me upwards to the maximum distance.

So can someone help me to work out how to do the backwards TP please?

maybe try this format-  powexeclocation 180:60 teleport              the first number accepts anything from 0 to 360 the degrees of a circle with 0=forward 90=right 180=back and so on. the second number 60 is the distance and can be any number up to the max distance you can teleport. Not sure but you may even be able to use "max" in place of a number for the second number.

If the game code would allow for it, then it might work, but again Dom's need mez to get as much Domination charge as they can, and Illusion really needs more mez to make that work.

Doms can generate domination without mez. Having PA tank helps you get more attacks out which helps you get more attacks...

I was thinking more along the lines of fighting AV's and other hard to mez targets. How about also making it so PA is not perm? Maybe 50% uptime or something.

Phantom army *needs* to be removed on Dominators. Its unfortunate but that's how it is.

The fact is that with Phantom Army combined with Dominator assault powersets just results in an absurd amount of damage output, especially combined with Phantasm too, there is simply too much attack power. Removing PA reduces that damage output and provides room for more mez, which is what this powerset needs in order to fuel Domination, which should be the Dominators means of being powerful.

Spectral Wounds I will admit isn't necessary, as that too means you're stacking damage ontop of Assault powersets. It could be exchanged for a AoE debuff, perhaps something similar to 'Smoke' that reduces sight... I think that fits well for an Illusion theme.

If Damage is the problem I would rather remove the damage from PA and still allow them to keep the taunt and taking no damage.

Glanced through the tread and didn't see this issue pop up, but once you select a power from an Epic/Patron Pool on a Stalker, it locks that set in and it can't be changed unless you start from scratch.

However... after going through all the classes and seeing if would have the same results, I can no longer replicate it, even on a stalker. /shrug

I have had the same problem and it still exist on the latest version. I have narrowed it down even further though.  If you choose stalker and at any time choose one of the epic sniper attacks this occurs(you don't even have to choose anything else just open new build and click epic sniper attack and you are locked in to that pool.)

  14. So I've decided to try an Electric/Dark controller and I have a couple of questions.

It looks like it will be very good control in a group setting, but

it looks like Static Field and Synaptic Overload work against each other.

Is it normal to take one or the other?

Also for when I'm soloing is there anyway to get damage out of this build or

is it good for grouping only?
