Empies are Empyrean Merits.  They're a form of Incarnate salvage.

Exemplaring is leveling down to the level of a team captain or mission.  In the process, powers taken after that level are deactivated and certain types of enhancements simply stop working.

Okay, so when I see that something has been slotted at say level 3, but has an item level of 40, does that mean the original enhancement was level 3 and was later replaced by a 40? Or did it level up with you to become a 40, even though it was originally a 3?

    For organization of power selection?
Generally, when I build, I build for exempability.
Now, if you spend the entirety of your at L50 (like a farmer), it doesn't really matter.

As for how you slot enhancements, that's almost an entirely personal preference.

Yes, maxing out a build for damage, survivability, etc is expensive.
As to cost effective?  Well, depends on how easily you can accumulate wealth.

Currently I'm sitting on just over 3B in Inf, 600 Empies, 240 Hero Merits, 10,000+ Reward Merits and around 6,000 Vanguard merits.  Plus an unspecified number of Architect tickets.

Guess I've got more reading to do since I've been back in the game for about a week now and have no clue what Empies are and haven't hit L50 in my life... 🙂

Pick your powers in level-up order.
    Slot things out.
If you need to shuffle things around, you can actually drag powers around to swap with another power.  Say you wanted to take KO Blow from Level 20 to Level 30, you simply click, hold and drag.  Now if the power that's in L30 isn't available at L20, it'll immediately turn red to let you know the build is illegal.

You have the tab group in the lower left-hand corner to give power info and your general total for things like Defense, Resist, Recovery, Regen and Recharge.

If you want more info, click on Window --> Advanced Totals

To get optimal placement for your build, once you get it built, click on Slot/Enhancement --> Slots --> Auto-Arrange.  It basically packs the slot distribution.
This way, instead of having an L50 slot in a L32 power, you get L33-34, etc slots.  This way, if you are re-working a build, all your high-level slots go to the last powers you pick.

So in builds are you generally trying to get slots appropriate for the level you choose them or trying to max them out in general? I imagine maxing out entirely isn't cost effective in terms of in-game currency, but I would imagine it's possible given enough time..

The (A) is the slot that Automatically comes with the power. The other numbers are the level that that slot was taken at.

That makes a lot more sense than what I was thinking... thanks for that!

Do you know about and have you installed Mids? While it’s possible to decipher the gobbledygook, it’s much easier to understand the build by looking at it in Mids.

I only learned of its existence in the past few days, but have never used it. I'm not always the most tech savvy person out there.

  6. Hi folks!

Please forgive the intrusion, but I'm very new to the server and though I played during the original Live weekend through to CoV beta testing, I never sniffed endgame at all.  In fact, back then it never occurred to me to check out forums. I was just having fun playing a tech blaster.  Well, now I'm trying to build an Inv/SS tank and I'm having trouble deciphering some of the notation here.  For example, I see something like this:  GldArm-3defTpProc(A) .  What does the (A) signify?  I also see a range of different numbers in brackets, as well, like a (17) or (19) here and there.  Are those the enhancement levels?  Shouldn't we be trying to get them as high as possible for the final builds or have I misunderstood something fundamental?  Thanks in advance for your understanding!

  7. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I am getting nauseous (no joke) and had stop playing.  I don't remember feeling this way before.  I am using the W, S, D, A to move around but when I need to move 11 or 2 o'clock I can't move fluidly.  I try using the mouse but it feels clunky.  Turning around is so difficult that it's basically impossible.  Does anyone have any tips?  Thank you.

I'm using the same direction keys and have had to stop twice because of nausea. Feels a heck of a lot like motion sickness to me. Ugh.
