I ran a swipe-only/invul scrapper from 1 to 50 without AE. We can all play this game as we see fit. We can all refuse to follow common knowledge.

Those asking for builds *could* make the builds themselves. They *could* read about builds and test them on their own and come up with their own plans and read and understand everything about this game's mechanics. There is NO system in place blocking knowledge and advancement in this game to anyone. To put it another way, there's nothing I can do in this game that you can't do and more. And I've seen the more countless times over and over because I *choose* to limit my builds in my way.

So, no... I'm not swayed that there's some mass of players that actually need this change or even needed movement powers at level 4. That was a poorly thought out change and should be reverted. I'm with Rudra... standardize the pools, yes, all of them, and make T3-T4 powers available at 14.

Need? No, would benefit from I believe so.

Yes the people asking for builds might be able to do all that and learn it and that would indeed make them not casual. But the fact they havent or cant (Because some honestly cant, even if they tried) does put them in the casual pool imo.

Also my examples was just from the forum (I havent pugged since a years break) Imo the people reading and posting seem much less likely to be casual about the game.

I get you and others are adamant opponents of any power creep, I was just trying to explain how tough with a cost of boxing, is more valuable for the guy more likely to slot 4 kinetic combats in it to become softcapped to SL. Than the guy who just took it because he really wanted a resist power.

I don't disagree that it would benefit the causal player more but I have to disagree that it'd be an overall benefit to the game and the player population on the whole. Mostly because I seriously doubt the majority of us playing this game now can be considered casuals as was defined in the olden days, the before the snap time.

I dunno. Your most likely right that those that have stuck with it this long have a higher % of “none casuals” but if you read the forum theres a lot of people who refuse to make stuff like perma doms or soft cap defenses. But still claim to make good builds. I doubt they would still taking boxing if they didnt have to.

Theres people never hitting 50 and IOing out, just constantly rolling alts.

And while they still make the builds in game, theres a lot of people asking for builds from others cause they cant make them themselves.

I think the “casual” pool might be bigger than you would expect.

That isn't being utilized especially by the "more casual players."

So why introduce more power creep, not just with this suggestion but with every balance question, when the majority aren't using said power creep for the heightened difficulty content?

I Can only give you my reasons for this suggestion and I already did.

    Imo

Making powers easier to pick would help the casual player more than it would help the experts and hopefully shorten the gap between Them in whatever content they play. Even if it is power creeping everyone.

There's the rub. None of us can agree. It would be helpful to us all if this game's devs would decide where the balance point should be so that we can all assist them in getting there but even they can't decide where it is.

I’m trying to think how to word this.

Then it seems like making it easier to make good build decisions might be a good way to make the balance less skewed.

IO builds aren’t complicated to someone like yourself, but to some they are. Skipping a power they will never use to get the a power like tough or weave is a lot easier. Even if it does improve a top tier build a tiny bit.

They are introducing harder content, I think theres room for a little power creep, especially if it moves the more casual players more than it does the elite.

This being a male-specific helmet is one of the unsolved mysteries of City of Heroes, along with the renegade hat. I understand gender norming, but who was like: "That helmet is clearly a boy helmet".

It was ported from a male only enemy group I believe.

If mez is important in overcoming him dont forget to get the vanguard medal behind his back. Double your holds, immob, fear, confuse for a minute. Probably something he wouldnt think about as a potential problem.

Edit: dunno if that is allowed in pvp or arena now that I think of it...

All the accolades turn off in pvp. You Can buy every accolade (with a new name) for 10k inf a piece, if your side controls sirens calls.

while mezzes are important to turn off toggles, they dont last very long and theres no reason to stack them since any mez that hits Will stun a tank shortly then Grant him immunity for awhile

I don't know enough about how rest works to go into any more detail than I'm about to share. I just recall changes that happened and some bug fixes during the process. I don't know if Rest is intended to not allow toggling on/off items. The power is still set to "Only Affect Self" while active, afterall.

Some of the changes that came with Rest was the ability to activate it while in the air (or while flying? again I don't know the power well enough) .. however it would make you fall to the ground. Rest also no longer immobilized you, I think it just kills your movement speed instead. I don't recall why that was done, but it might be related to allowing the activation of Rest while flying (again, I don't know for sure).

There was a bug that was discovered that allowed your to move while untouchable, and the fix for that could have been what caused players to no longer activate toggles while using rest. Again....I dunno, don't shoot the messenger, I just figure I add some context to this conversation as to why Rest changed in the ways it did and areas where the undesired outcome (not activating toggles) may have come from. Perhaps someone else who was more involved with beta testing Rest changes could speak to it more clearly.

You use to be able to stack enough clear minds (or similar) on a resting target it would suddenly be able to run around, assuming the kneeling when they stopped moving again. You still had all the other penalties of rest.

Are the max levels listed on the wiki correct?

Posi 1 for instance is 8-15 so since I am 50 I will be 15 with powers and slots up to 20 correct? Pos1 2 max 16 so 21? etc

I want to solo them all so I want to outfit my character the best I can for each TF.

    Thank you.

    For Posi 1.

You Will be level 15 yes.

You Will have your powers up to level 20 and any slots in those powers.

Any IO set that goes down below level 19 slotted in one of those powers will count towards set bonuses, if it is catalysed or below level 19.

Same goes for any unique IO.

Any Purple IO you have slotted in any power (Even picked after level 20) will give its Set bonuses.

  9. He’s your main that your rerolling on the second account, the proceed to powerlevel. Then your son gets old enough to play so you give him the account. He instantly renames Robin to Nightwing and tries his best to copy your costume. Somehow he forgets the Cape. Since your starting a new account, you grab the Robin name again and roll up the same clone of your main again.

later you decide to make this your pvp character and make a pvp build on him, you do well for a while, but after a total and humiliating defeat you get so mad you strip the build and leave it empty on the account.

Later you reroll it on your third account (fourth really, since your son Got bored and is playing Fortnite) because your bored too and need something to powerlevel on your main.

Your initial message sounded super judgy when I first read it and pissed me off. I apologize to the extent my response was chiding, etc.

Notes vs actually manipulating the character’s name are different though. I guess if you want to add some notes feature here there’s reasonable precedent for that.

Apology accepted, and i am sorry my post came off grating, i picked flashy names because i thought it would highlight why i suggested it. I am not in actual favor of changing peoples names, so to me i seemed similar to the notes system, since only you could see it.

Anyway please ignore my suggestion and focus on the OPs, as you say its more reasonable.
