  1. Well it's unfortunate because it has a few pros for uses but I get it, it has it's cons as well. Like I said the hope was and I probably should have been much clearer how I said it, the tokens if used enough could maybe alleviate some of the AE farms used as power leveling zones as well, a few less reasons to use the AE would have been the hope is all. I'd seen many talks as of late that certain farms put more strain on the servers and was looking for a method to lesson that effect on the servers. Was just a crazy thought cause I had nothing better to do at the times when mulling it over.

Unfortunately, I suspect that it would wind up increasing AE use, because of its ability to sidestep the 'effort' of leveling. Create a character with whatever the current 'meta' is for farming, pump it to 50 via AE. Now respec it to save out the enhancements, then take the inf that you built up farming to 50, buy a reroll token, and use it to create a character with an AT/powersets that don't lend themselves to quick leveling -- i.e., controllers/defenders. It basically allows you to use an easily-leveled build to sub for the work of leveling one that's harder to get to 50. And I'll take it as read that this isn't how you intended it to be used, but like AE itself, as soon as you hand an 'easy button' to players, it's going to get used that way, no matter how little you intended it.

That's correct. I see now the cons had much larger holes in the over all plan and idea than I had thought. You're right though the more I think on it the more I can see it having a complete reverse effect.

  2. Boosts to 50 are a hard no from the Devs - this thread wasnt about AE, but conveys the opinion on level skipping (click the quote link for more context)

This has, I believe, been proposed and shot down already internally, so I would think it unlikely to happen any time soon if ever.

  3. I had a similar idea as to the one you're proposing but after some thought I came to the opinion that there would be two things that would stall this idea: The devs already nerfed AE because they (tl;dr version) felt it was negatively affecting sub-50 populations and this would contravene that design philosophy.

You're probably right. I was just looking for some solution to help that wouldn't bring another nerf down the pipeline. I get that nerfs have to be made now and again but sometimes the nerfs while fixing one problem negatively impact in other areas. Thought maybe something seeded like the super packs could work to alleviate some of the farming/power leveling though admittedly I don't know to what degree it would help or if it would even work at all.

  4. Ok first off let me be clear. I do not see this as the silver bullet to fix all  issues with AE. Though my hope would be to help alleviate some of the excesive farming in overall strain on the server/shards. I realize first and foremost people love to farm and so do I to an extent and so people will always farm whatever content they feel they gain the most from. I all so understand some don't like it at all and infact despise it entirely.  The thought behind this was that maybe these tokens could help alleviate some of the farming in AE. So this is what I thought about and maybe someone else has suggested such if so I don't mean to step on any toes.

Phoenix Token- This token allows you to reroll a brand new level 50 in place of a deleted level 50.

In short you go to the market, buy this token for 250 million influnce click token select 'use Phoenix token then delte the current fifty and create a new one in it's place This next one is a bit more touchy I know but it is just a suggestion and those more versed in the long term effects of such things could refine the ideas themselves into something viable maybe.

Surge token - This token is a direct path right to level 50 and comes at the costly price of 500 million influence.

Ok the idea is that both of these work for several purposes. One being and end game money sink. The next for example the surge token, yes I get it power leveling is evil but if a friend is in game and trying to get other old friends to return and they have the influence they give the money to their friend, their friend uses the token and has a nice jump start to rebuilding what they had on live. These tokens would only be seeded/sold on the market. They would not drop and not be tradeable in any form.

  5. The last few days just of curiosity spent about 400mil on these packs and made back...290. These packs seemed to more often than not chalked full of respecs, build ,temp buffs and costume tokens. Now while these things aren't generally bad get four or five packs full of them with no IO and your profit just sank rather than grow. It's a slot machine pure and simple, you might hit it big and might even do so for a while but sooner or later your luck will run out. I think like many others have stated it's an ok passive thing once in a while but far more effective methods exists.

  6. To low degrees I can tolerate cell shading but I prefer it be very minimal. I do understand CoX has it in some areas to certain degrees and you can increase it if you like but I simply can't and wont play any game with heavy degree of cell shading, it triggers migraine which means nauseous and no thank you I'm out and not coming back. That in and of itself ruined any chance I would  ever play CO. Though it isn't just CO I have the issues with games like borderlands 1 &2 , the Crackdown series of games. They might all be great games but cell shading is a hard no for me. Then later on to see CO went with pay walls which hit me as damn mobile game gimmicks killed any chance I would ever do anything with that game short of maybe use a hard copy of it for a drink coaster.

  7. If you can get a second computer that will run CoH .... give the kid his own account, and let him play _with you_.

On the one hand, that would let you supervise any contact he has with strangers in the game.

On the other hand, that would give you and him something fun to do together, and as he moves towards middle-school age, that's not an opportunity to discard lightly.  :)

This point exactly. It's an experience to share with your children. If I recommended anything else it would be to close he chats for the time being incase something does slip in you didn't want him to see. The most are pretty mature and responsible in chats but now an again someone goes off the rails and mis-tell happens. I can't think of a better game to share with your children though be it son or daughter.

  8.   It does strike me as bizarre when I see something like "lvl 30 radio missions in Bricktown.  Need Tank and Heals" in LFG.

Me too. I always want to answer: If you're in that level range and still need a Healer/Tank for Radios you should either adjust your diff settings or respec ;p

But then again I love CoX and I know that in most content no particular AT is need and that's the reason why I love it.

This alone would be a large reason why I would always return to CoH/CoV . Then of course the community that would leap to defend right beside you in most any situation. It's amazing to watch an entire group go from just standing around Atlas with some RP going on or general chatting then see them all yourself included go into full blown fight mode when Rikti have the audacity to set foot in Atlas. Those moments...some of the best memories and in those moments it wasn't about sets,AT or influence none of it mattered it was standing shoulder to shoulder with Heroes and defending the city no matter what with a massive grin on your face because you loved every single second of it.

  9. Stuff like what OP saw, I'd figure to be holdovers from other games, that, in this environment, are freaking crazy talk.

Just play, we'll make it work.

Indeed . I agree it's crazy I all so agree each to their own. Though I'd love to see some silly Saturdays or maybe even a Twisted Tuesday where some crazy team go out and push the limits because they can.

  10. Well, TBH, on Live, Atlas on Freedom was not a much different hive of scum and villiany

Many have returned to this game with only the 'good' memories from Live, IMO.

    I avoid Atlas entirely ASAP.

I turn off virtually all chat.

    Relaxing silience.

I grew tired of the "Look At Me!" chatter in multiplayer games before I started playing CoH back in the day.

Running teams, however, I will do when in the mood.

In all my team building messages I say ALL are welcome, ALL the time, unless a badge/level restriction is involved, obviously.

I also love to stand _beside_ these players and get groups, do whatever it is they are going to do, then come back, because sometimes, they are still building a team, while we already ran the content. Tasty.

I might be in love, that tasty snapback is amazing. Good luck out there hero and have fun.

  11. While I hate to admit it I witnessed a good bit of an on over the course of a few hours in atlas. It was pretty heavy but then after a while I just closed that particular chat and went to do my own thing. What Valtina is saying is and does happen, just saddening from a old vet's point of view. It never mattered much with the rare exception of a few trials who was what, it was all about helping out the hero next to you or in some cases yes even the villain. I see Valtina's point and have to agree with jubakumbi .

Though if someone new to the game is reading this. I recommend finding people that just enjoy the play and don't worry about silly requirements for this team or that team enjoy the game that's what CoH/CoV has always been about.

  12. I can't select a single favorite memory. I had too many. I can select the single hardest memory and that was the day it was all taken away. So to return to CoH/CoV has been bitter sweet at first, what was had that is gone still stings but not nearly as bad as it did with no where to go. I tried so many hero games and none of it measured up, none of it ever could to my mind. You have given so many of us our second home back and I can't Thank you enough.  Thank you feels like a brash understatement in a way because Paragon,Rogue Isles and Praetoria meant so much to so many of us and thanks to you it still does after all this time so again Thank you.
