WELCOME HOME!

✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧

As someone within the spectrum of neurodiversity, I wished to welcome all the wonderful lively, colorful, sparkling and glowing neurokin that have come to us since the news hit the airwaves and well beyond on the netverse. We here in Everlasting have quite a broad spectrum of a community, and I wanted to ask a few questions to help you on your way to finding Your People!

  1. How did you hear about Everlasting, and Homecoming?
  2. If you are a former player from live, what servers do you recall the names of playing, and do you remember what characters names you played with the most?
  3. What's your favorite aspect of the game thus far to your experience?
  4. Are you actively looking for a super group? Which side? And what play style is your preference?
  5. Can tell us a little bit more about yourself, or your characters!

Most of us inhabiting the Everlasting shard are pretty insular but I'm looking for a way to help you connect to fellow neurokin and to help make friends with the community groups of our little home here.

Last but not least, we do cater mostly to roleplaying on the server, but we do welcome other play styles on the server too, with lots of active content running groups, organized coalitions, and communities on the server.

  • I arrived here from a MassiveOP article back in May 2019. Round about my birthday actually.
  • I was a live player on Virtue primarily and played a handful of dragonkin themed characters but didn't have much of a social network as I do today here on Everlasting. I played from 2008 until shutdown in 2012.
  • I *LOVE* roleplaying, I live for the story, the character development, the unexpected twists and turns in character interactions, and portray roughly about 48 characters on my account (To date.) But the content of the game is also quite good and I enjoy running with raiders and sometimes leading MSR's from time to time.
  • I currently lead the Scions of Everlasting, a heavy roleplaying super group that leans neither hero, or villian in regards to red or blue siding. I tend to RP a lot more than I run content I'm afraid, but I'm always open to join a farm to help boost characters, and to help connect people to the groups that might be more in alignment with their character interests and themes in gameplay. 🙂
  • I go by the chosen name Melrose, I am in my 40's and a stay at home mother of a young son, life partner to @SolSoldier and a friend to many here on Everlasting and other realms beyond of this server. I used to live host lesson nights on a regular basis twice monthly for teaching the basics of roleplaying and some of the forms of play to be discovered here in Everlasting and other roleplaying spaces across the web. I still teach, however it's more a one on one basis for those that are looking to learn, so my door is always open for questions for new roleplayers and beginning players of the server. I am LGBTQ+ and a friend to many of the groups of the server that play together here. I wouldn't go so far to call myself an ambassador of sorts, but a volunteer mentor is a good name for what I do here on Everlasting and Homecoming. So again, with all the warmth and love in my heart, I welcome you to our home away from home.
  • Infodump time:
    Spoiler

I play roughly about 40+ characters that are part and parcel to an entire interdimensional story line of a fallen empire of interdimensional traveling dragonkin, called the Tirikan. The story covers quite a few subjects that reflect on society, civilization as it stands today in reflection of a utopian society that was not as united as they like to think they were. These characters have their own language, terms, words and phrases they use as part of their origin story and history dating back to the first time I played them in their early versions back in Yahoo! chat in 1994 and tabletop gaming through D&D with a very flexible DM at the time. They've grown into a story that covers multiple different spectrums of life, backgrounds, and emotional spectrums as well as conflicts that arise between their different cultures in a world that is not too unlike their own home world. My main, Crystal Dragon, is only a nickname for what she appears as, and registered with the City of Paragon as a hero at the start, but she and others like her have evolved past seeing the lines of red and blue as a definite black-and-white spectrum, they in fact lay in the shades of gray and do often take unorthodox methods to handle crime, and the wrongs of humanity from a completely different perspective than most might expect of dragon type characters. I've enjoyed playing these characters since their inception in Y!Chat and D&D and they have in fact traveled between multiple different universes in that time, so if you spot a Tirikan race character, strike up a conversation about anything, you might be surprised on their points of view. My partner and I both have an array of Tirikan characters to roleplay, so you may end up meeting not just one, but several in the span of a few hours of interactions. 🙂

  • How did you hear about Everlasting, and Homecoming?
Big fan of MMORPG roleplaying - I've been a rapidfire casual RPer since Final Fantasy XI back in  2005 (wow, 19 years!?). Never got to play CoH/CoV when it was officially running and I regretted that, a friend of mine who also missed out on the original run let me know about Homecoming. We're both playing now and fulfilling that missed opportunity!! BUT UH we both don't really know anything about it and going into it pretty blind! Please be patient with me learning the lore and stuff!
  • What's your favorite aspect of the game thus far to your experience?
OH FOR SURE the character customization!! I mean, not only does it have the best costume customization I've ever seen in an MMO - the easily switchable alt costumes!? The generous ability the admins have given us to let us edit our characters for free whenever we want to make small adjustments?! The TONS of emotes and the crazy macro system I'm just now learning?! As an artist, writer, animator, and total egoist, it's most favorite thing in the WORLD to show off my character design aesthetics loud and proudly, and I am so happy to play a game that lets you do that to the max!!
  • Are you actively looking for a super group? Which side? And what play style is your preference?
I'M EXTREMELY NEW TO THE GAME but will probably be making one for my own group, the "ENshowCrew" (I DIDN'T NAME IT, I SWEAR) we're a bunch of "VTuber"/"PNGtuber" wannabes and Smule karaoke app users. Mostly in our late 20s/early 30s, LGBTQIA+, lots of neurodivergent folks. Anyone's welcome to come join us if you want to, only hard requirement is that you're over 18 years of age in real life and won't spoil TV shows for me.
Several of us started the game together on the Villain side but might migrate towards Rogue at some point, dunno yet! I'm playing a Melee Damage Tanker because it suits my character aesthetic the best and protects my friends! 💖
  • Can tell us a little bit more about yourself, or your characters!
Spoiler

ENSHOKU "BLAZING TIGER" ONITORA is a ~140+-year-old delinquent from HELL!! Despite being born of a demon-ogre father and a human witch mother, he often keeps his supernatural abilities under wraps by disguising himself as fully human in order to enjoy himself with leisure 'topside'. However, he has a never-ending thirst and love for violence, always seeking an excuse for a fistfight. He will never unleash his true demonic power unless he feels his opponent could handle it, and he is always seeking new rivals to light his heart aflame. He sees fighting as a form of friendship and honesty, hence a form of love, which understandably is viewed as twisted and strange by most of human society. (It's arguably normal for demons, though, y'know?)
He has a strong sense of justice and protection towards the downtrodden, namely those that society tends to call "freaks and perverts". (He's probably Chaotic Good in terms of D&D alignments.)

His voice is notably loud, and he tends to laugh big and laugh often. He's cheerful and honest, and his worldview tends to be very open-minded and caring towards living things. Despite his 'punk' persona, he is generally very polite unless first given permission to act otherwise.
However, he has a short temper when it comes to seeing others try to strictly control what he deems to be fun such as singing, fashion, or battle (to name a few).
He tends to be surprisingly wise when it comes to philosophy, but often proves himself lacking when it comes to basic math or even common sense.
He loves Osakan culture and 1980's fashion. His preferred style of singing is power metal and enka.

Spotify music inspiration playlist! (intended to be listened to on shuffle.)

In general, he's inspired by 1980's/1990's shounen/seinen Japanese comics, specifically the "yanki" trope; I love Americana viewed through Japanese cultural eyes. Redheads in anime & manga always end up being the noisy fire-blooded comic relief, and that's exactly who Enshoku is.
Major character inspirations are Goro Majima from the Yakuza game series, Kuwabara Kazuma from Yu Yu Hakusho, and Amaba Kaze from The Cheerful Failure of the Monster Festival.

I'm going to answer this one in reverse: I heard about Homecoming on some MMO site, don't ask me which one. I haven't kept up with CoH since some early reading right when I heard about the private servers a little while after the official servers went offline. I did follow City of Titans for a while, but the dev team and the community were a little abrasive (I may get some flack for that 'cause I recognize at least one signature line here that I saw over there...) and it started to look like maybe the game wasn't going to be done any time soon. I still liked what they were going for, but I felt like there were some key differences between what I loved about CoH and what they did. So I stepped away and gave up on City of Heroes coming back in any major way. When I read the news that Homecoming had gotten officially greenlit to run legally, it peaked my interest, and I asked a friend about it; she said she played occasionally, so eventually I bit the bullet and jumped back in.

As for Everlasting, here on these forums. I'd moved my characters to Reunion because she mentioned she had rebuilt some of her characters there, and I really wanted to play with her.. But other than once when she was renaming some characters, I've yet to see her on, even knowing that I'm back and playing. I guess she's moved on, too. So I figured I'd better find some other folks to play with, and roleplay was always one of the things we loved best, so here I am, on the 'unofficial' roleplay server.

I honestly don't remember most of the server names? I kinda remember Virtue, but I'm not even sure if that's where we played primarily. I want to say it was Pinnacle where my friend group went to create a bunch of new characters for a Super Group story line (Descendents) but we mostly played on another server. My friend was Psionique on her main, but she had a dozen at least (Thaumatique, Psionique's brother, being the one that comes quickest to mind) My mains have mostly stayed the same 4, which I'll mention in more detail below. Another buddy of mine who stayed even after I left had a whole spreadsheet for his characters and played on half a dozen servers at least, but he died a couple years back, so I know I'll never run into him.

  • What's your favorite aspect of the game thus far to your experience?

Probably that it's one of the best games out there for alt-aholics like me? Super heroes is take-it-or-leave-it, but I do like the world, and there so much variety to choose from. Aside from that, mostly it was my friend group and how much we all roleplayed in CoH. Most of us eventually went on to WoW when it came out (we all jumped in during the beta) but over there, the roleplay stopped almost entirely, and with no way to easily play across level gaps, we drifted apart. Eventually I stopped playing MMOs altogether for a long time, and I jumped back into City of Heroes literally weeks before they announced they were shutting it down. I had some good RP in MMOs prior to CoH, but not much since, and it's definitely the thing I miss most.

  • Are you actively looking for a super group? Which side? And what play style is your preference?

I'm not. My experience with SGs, guilds, factions, corporations, clans, etc. is that they end up gravitating to end-game content, and the almost universal insistence on the idea that endgame is where the game 'truly begins' bores me to tears. I love leveling up, playing through stories and making them part of my own. Getting to max level is of almost negative interest to me. It's what's disappointed me most so far about coming back to CoH; I rarely see heroes running the streets or doing door missions. All of the LFG chat is about DFB and other raids and TFs. I'm very much interested in running through those stories, but not with strangers. I want to find a group of like-minded folks who will roleplay the fuck out of it, emoting and arguing and such during the fights, making the TF's story their own, and who are willing to take their time. I'm hoping that coming to Everlasting, I might find some like-minded folks, but I've only been here a very short time, and mostly I still see the same stuff. People definitely put more effort into their costumes, and more folks have bios which is certainly heartening, but I've seen almost no street-level RP.

Can tell us a little bit more about yourself, or your characters!

I'm a 40-something married father of 4, recently retired from the U.S. military and I work in IT. Games of various sorts have been my primary hobby for my entire life, but life's pretty busy these days, so I have to lean back a little. Aside from City of Heroes, I play Valheim with my wife, and cycle through a variety of other games. I'm looking for a game that isn't Wurm Unlimited but scratches the same itch (and absolutely NOT Wurm Online), but for now I've really been digging being back in my old stomping grounds, even if it does feel lonely. Aside from that, I run a game and a half of Pathfinder 2nd Ed on weekends, watch Sci Fi and Fantasy shows and movies, and hang out with my kids and my wife.

I guess I should mention my "RP" pedigree, too. Aside from getting into table top RPGs when I was a kid, I got lost in AOL's chat-based RP starting around '97-98, and have RP'd in basically every MMO I tried since then. My favorites for RP would definitely be Ultima Online, City of Heroes and Star Wars Galaxies. My alter-ego (mentioned below) has made an appearance in 2 out of those 3, but in SWG I played a Wookiee Ranger named Daracca, and loved the hell out of it.

At the moment I've got 5 characters and roleplay to greater or lesser extent with all of them. More details can be found here, but my Main is and always will be Errant, a dimension-lost paladin who's making the best of his time in Paragon City. He's a broadsword/shield scrapper (used to be Invuln, but I'm digging shields) with teleportation and some healing 'magic'. Errant is my self-insert wish-fulfillment character, and I love playing and roleplaying as him.

LGBTQ+ but not super visible about it, Undiagnosed AuDHD, He/Him.
