1-20 can be done in little time with the 2x XP booster and DFBs so I'm not sure how much that should be a factor. What matters is 30-50 and most builds have matured by 32.

DFBs wouldn't really be what I would call mission leveling though, but you are right on the 32 for must builds, some I have seen mature about 35.

Stj/Bio stalker - stealth to end, kill stuff fast.   I suppose it matters what you're fighting and if you want to stealth, or kill all.  If you're doing +0x1 with no bosses, it hardly matters as long as you've got stealth and superspeed to get there fast.

I actually feel like ninja/storm MM might be better than anything else especially without sets, set to agressive, and just follow/drag them around and they kill everything without you even having to bother targeting anything.

To be honest I am getting a lot of the "finish objectives, now kill everything".   So using stealth to the end of a mission when regular blue side mission leveling would require a bunch of back tracking... or at least with my luck it will.  I haven't tried and MM yet.  Would ninja/storm be more for stealth abilities, if so does any MM steamroll fast?  I heard they were somewhat late bloomers for that.

They actually do. my wife and I were testing this. The Magic Carpet actually flies about 15 percent faster at level 32 than the flight you purchase, and every flight enhancement you place in Fly, hover, OR swift increases it's speed, even though hover and flight enmhancements don't normally increase each other's speed.

Also, afterburner works QUITE well on the magic carpet.

I would get a Scottish carpet and use afterburner... just to say I went to Plaid.

  4. Question:  What is the fastest mission leveling AT/Power pool combination?  I am currently running WM/Bio Scrapper and it seems to plow through mission leveling pretty quick.  I am aware maybe TW/Bio would be a little faster too... but is there some magic murder-hobo combination for just utterly ripping through mission leveling that I am missing?  Please assume no set enchantments and the purpose IS to mission level, so no AE, grinding Trials, stealth past all the mobs, etc..

Less Serious: I would also like to merge brute and scrapper into one category for this except power pools only available to one and not the other.  There is no actual good reason for this... I just want to constantly refer to "Scrapper or Brute" as Scute. :classic_biggrin:

Edit:  Just looked up what a scute actually is: a thickened horny or bony plate on a turtle's shell or on the back of a crocodile, stegosaurus, etc.  And now you know and knowing is half the battle!

  5. Bio will give you at least 25% more damage usually more.  Recharge is better in Rad.  Survivability?  On my WM/bio I kill things so fast solo mission leveling that I barely take damage, on a TW/Bio build... the mobs may just kill themselves when they see you coming.  I think both are ok,  Cheaper endgame for Rad, more killtastic for Bio.  Bio is probably a good bit more expensive to build end game sets for.

    Rad:

    Good Resistance set

    Heals/absorb/Rcovery

    T8 group utility

    +Recharge

Cheaper to get sets for than Bio from what I am told.

    BIO:

Res S/L and Defence and the main others.  Mixed set.

    Heals/absorb/Recovery

    -Res and -DMG toggles

at least 25% more damage than RAD

Honestly most people never even use any stance other than Offensive, at least from what I can gather from other forum posts.  I know I don't even have the other 2 slotted.

  6. I have been quite fortunate on Torchbearer.  I have encountered nothing but friendly, though not always overly talkative, folks when teaming.  I haven't been subject to any bad behavior, and folks seem more than ready to help if someone asks.  As this is the only server I have played on since it went live, I don't have perspective on the others, but the state of the community from my observations of my little piece of it, are that everything is ok, and that if you are encountering issues, I don't think represents the exception, as opposed to the rule.  At least, that is my sincere hope.

I'm a Torchbearer resident too... can't say I've really seen any of this, everyone has been super helpful.  When I was low level someone randomly threw 2 Lvl 25 IO enchantments in my inventory.  Just a couple.  Someone helped me with some technical questions and learned I was new, had no level 50s and was solo mission leveling (the hard grueling way) and sent me 10 million Inf randomly.  I have been trying to pay it forward, I have handed out at least 2 million in level 25 IOs to help people out on lowbies.  The help chat is super helpful and people are really decent even when discussing what AT xx/xx is better.  I have yet to see the dreaded L2P phrase in this game, of course the grain of salt is that I have only gotten to Level 36.... shoves 9 different Level 12 toons under carpet.

  7. TW, ELC, Spines: already mentioned

So here is a couple others.

War Mace has a PBAOE, 1 semi circle of death 180 degrees, and a "cone" that works more like a line attack.  Can make a full rotation if specc'ed right and the line fits in the ST rotation too.  Add in Spring attack and that's all she wrote.  AOE chain:  Spring Attack, Whirling Mace, Crowd Control, Shatter seems to work well.  ST anything left with clobber... assuming anything is left.  ST Att would be something like Clobber, Shatter, Jawbreaker, Pulverize.... assuming you aren't recharge tuned and just need 3 attacks.  Its full of KDs, a KU, and Disorients.  My personal favorite, gets Crowd Control at level 32 though.

Radiation:  A good PBAOE T9, a toggle damage aura, and also the ST attacks do a minor aoe to other targets in the area IF the primary target is contaminated.  Slow attacks, at least it feels like it.  But lots of splash damage while you ST a Lt. down.  Stuff dies around you without you actually have to hit them, very interesting and it kind of makes sense for radiation.

  8. After choosing some combo that I did not play back on the old CoH live/test and that would fit a theme I ended up

with War Axe / Bio Armor. I enjoyed them both. Bio is very versatile after you throw some IOs on. It's add extra

dmg, yet I think it still has it weaknesses with no resistance vs def and regen debuffs and that brings me to Battle Axe

Number wise from min/max WM would be the better set as Axe, but there are so close to each other both have this perfect

180° cone power with a pbaoe and a smaller cone 45° for WM and 19° for Axe like the one for BS and Katana.

You can throw the pvp -res IO in a heavy hitting dmg and the +recharge KB IOs in the huge cone & pbaoe and that every single power has a knockdown or up effect helps quite a bit

Who dosen't like to juggle a npc all the time: https://gfycat.com/richdangerousbuckeyebutterfly

I found the single & aoe dmg satisfying, only if you run really into a mob with a high lethal resistance it's annoying but

it's far off the all or nothing you see often with psi.

Not to flashy, not to boring just a good solid set / combo

Currently mission leveling WM/BIO, only bad thing is that it does so much frickin damage that all my other alts feel like they are hitting with wet noodles.  So now I'm kind of ruined on playing my other heroes.  I am level 31 slowly approaching 32, When I can get Crowd Control.

  9. I have a Water/Rad too around lvl 22.  I was wondering what your rotation looks like, specifically for like mission leveling there are packs of 3-4 mobs usually and harder single targets.  What rotation do you use for AOE and for ST.  I only ask because all the builders and semi-builders in this set.

  10. 1.  The vendor that really felt like P2W was renamed as such... and you get free starter stuff and fairly cheap QOL items for Inf... Check the vendor out when you start a new game in the tutorial area.  On hero side its the lady in a suit standing just a little in front of you... at least in the Outbreak Tutorial, also one next to Atlas.. in Atlas.. yeah.  They have some prestige attacks that are good at low levels... makes low levels more bearable when you are sitting there waiting for your 1 primary attack to recharge.  ALSO choice of 2 free travel powers that are good for lower levels and you can have Sprint toggle on at the same time.  Ninja Run and Beast Run.  If you ever take Ninjutsu as a defensive pool there is an ability that synergizes like crazy with Ninja Run... probably making it a viable end game travel power.

    2. I/O  or Invention origin is like an SO enchantment... but it never stops working because of your level.  The University(Blue side is in Steel Valley or whatever its called, Twinshot's quest line leads you there)  has a tutorial and you get a free I/O.  I would suggest waiting until you are level 22 to get a free lvl 25 I/O for free.  That seems to be the general consensus of when to craft I/O enchantments.

    3. Any combination usually does work, watch out for Endurance hungry sets and pair or build accordingly.  I would check forums for those builds... but honestly use Pine's Hero Builder to get a good idea of what you want.  Set enchantments at end game can make up for almost all shortcomings.  There are lots of suggestions on the forums under the specific archetype boards.  You can have 2 different builds you can swap between per character.  Mission leveling is your friend for start back, it helps you know your character better and..... FREE RESPECS EVERY 10 LEVELS!  Just type /respect into your chat box and BAM!  Respec menu.... just remember the enchantments will be trashed if you don't put them specifically in a skill or drag them to your inventory.  Default is they all sit in the delete box when respec'ing.

Haven't played that combo... but you have frickin Darkest Night... soo yeah.  Also the Patron Pools can probably shore up whatever you are lacking, but I would consult someone that has tried that combo in the Corrupter board.

I will leave 4 & 5 to other people.  Hopefully this helps a little.

  11.

Here's a WM/SD I've been playing up from the noob levels. It is very fun and super crunchy when applied to enemies. Mine is 17, so this is aspirational. I've kicked hasten in and out of the build. All the plain "knockback" IOs should be the FF chance for +rech (or kb to kd in shatter if you find that a bother). The reason hasten is out is because you have solid ST chain without it in pulverize/jawbreaker/clobber (optionally: shatter, but its slow animation) and a solid AoE chain in WM/CC/Shatter. Neither of those needs hasten, so I opted for other powers instead. You could probably reslot whirling mace with a set with more recharge focus and AoE on just WM/CC alone, turning Shatter redundant.

It does suck the blue bar though. The recovery temp power from pay2win makes it suck less, as does slotting (full) scrapper sets early. I figure unslotters are cheap on the market, I can pull a slot eventually when that's relevant.

Which pay2win temp power are you using?  If its the pet... how the heck do you keep it alive?  I have never ran pets so I don't know if there is a keyboard command to tell the thing to stay way back and not aggro stuff but mine dies instantly in almost every encounter.

  12. If I don't take haste... am I super gimping myself?

It seems every single build I see contains Haste and people try to keep it up all the time.  For example, say I have a Water/Rad Sentinel.  Water is created to rely on builders and then your big bad attacks to consume Hydro Power, which would mean haste isn't really needed at all.  But use Haste and I am just spamming 2 attacks for the rest of the game doing far more damage, (Water Jet, Dehydrate, FTW!) but if that's what does better then that's what's got to happen.  Any feedback on how to work this out would be appreciated.

  13. Hello,

I am fairly new to the game and had some quick questions.

[*]Do heal over time abilities stack?  Like if I use Dehydrate to get a 8 second HoT for 7% health back.  But I cast it again at 4 seconds due to fast recharge times, what happens?  Do they stack or just reapply?

[*]Same question but with Damage over Time.  I cast Gloom with a 8 Second cool down but a 15 second dot.... what happens if I cast it again at the 8 second mark instead of after the DoT has finished?

  14. Back when COH was still live I was into alts and had all sorts, except for SR. Also they didn't have the sentinal archtype back then and so you were either confined to having little defense (blaster) or low offense (defender) if you wanted a ranger attacker.

So when I came back, I decided to try out the new class and something I hadn't done before. And it has been a blast!

I basically took a dark (recolored so he actually blinds people with light)  / Ninjitsu sentinal with the following pools:

sorcery (fly/teleport in one handy power called mystic flight)

combat leaping (harder to hit and and good combat speed)

super speed (hasten + SS + steath)

hover (extra defense, combat flight at low end).

Quite to my surprise my character (BrightFyre526) has turned out to be incredibly fun to run as well as incredibly powerful and tough with a lot of flexibility as shown below:

    1. Incredibly hard to hit! [Think spiderman]

Dark (- to hit) combined with Ninjitsu (+DEF) makes it so I almost never get hit! Seriously the synergy is incredible.

    2. Best in and out of movement package I have ever seen.

In combat I can easily outmaneuver pretty much any opponent I have run up against, shooting my attacks off as I leap over their heads or fly out of range or in one case, kite the charging tank and then teleport to the other end of the corridor, rinse and repeat.

    3. Sneaker than a stalker! [Or at least on par]

My secondary comes with a nice combo speed boast + stealth field + defense which combined with SS means I am pretty much unnoticed unless I attack or want to be. In fact I sometimes have to turn some of my powers off just so NPC victims can see and follow me.

    4. Bowling for villains!

One of my old time favorites was energy attacks so I could watch people go flying. Yet the dark set comes with a beautiful power called umbral torrent that not only allows me to debuff a charging horde of minions, but almost 100% send them and their bosses flying! One of my favorite tactics to is use my superior speed to pull back as they charge causing the mob to line up in a nice row and then nuke them with my cone AOE attack.

    5. Snipers anyone?

The dark set has a nice sniper shot that is fast charging, debuffs their chance to hit you and hits like a tank with good range.  Needless to say, between that and umbral torrent my enemies are seriously debuffed (and often dead if no boss to soak up the sniper shot) before they even get in range of me. That is if I allow them to get in range.

    6. Stamina heal!

Unlike a lot of power sets, between a couple of IOs in Stamina and the stamina heal from the ninjitsu set, I never have to really worry about running out of energy which in COH is REALLY NICE! I can run my toggle defense powers, my combat jumping, my hover and cycle thru my usual 3 shot cycle and never worry. Indeed, I can actually fight while having both my mystic flight and super speed running at the same time in addition! Although I have to be more careful in that case and use my maneuverability to occasionally pull back around a corner for a sec.

    7. Healing, Yes!

Did I mention that the Ninjitsu set also has a decent heal? It does and yet, I almost never need it due to (cough, cough ) seldom getting hit. However when I have gotten mobbed, it has saved my bacon long enough for me to teleport out of trouble and then bounce around a corner.

Oh and did I also mention the 3rd shot in my attack sequence is Life drain that damages them, debuffs them and heals me at the same time!

    8. Bombs away!

Oh and of course there is the Blackstar PBAOE at level 32 that at level 33 ( 3 extra slots) does wonders for nuking and debuffing everyone around me. When I am with a group drawing aggro, I will literally leap into the middle of the mob, set off my AOE debuff, high damage bomb, then leap right out to the back lines and continue my normal attack cycle.

    9. Attack Plan?

When soloing, which by the way is the easiest I have ever seen with this build, I will normally use the following setup:

    a. Sneak up to a good position

    b. Sniper the boss/leut if one for massive damage and to debuff their chance to hit me

    c. Umbral torrent the local mob sending them flying and debuffing them

    d. Life drain the nearest one for health and, yes, more debuffs!

    e. Maneuver to set them up for my next attack cycle or pull back if too many are near to string them out

    f. Rinse and repeat until END hits the 50% point

    g. Fire off my END heal to go back to full power

    h. if my health gets less than 50%, fire off my big heal to take me back up to full

    i. if getting too many mobs on me, use speed/ teleport to break line of sight, then super speed / teleport to a new ambush point and repeat.

In conclusion the DB/N sentinal is to me the superhero type I've always wanted in COH, able to attack from range, but not afraid to mix it up in melee and tough enough to take it. And Ninjutsu and Dark Blast together have a lot of synergy leading to a combo that is much more powerful than either of them separately. Just having high DEF, ala SR doesn't really cut it. But throw in DB and Ninjitsu 's superior power set and you have yourself a winner! Not to mention that it can also sneak (handy in some missions!) and go pretty much anywhere.

[glow=red,2,300]I just want to thank you![/glow]  I was trying to make a scrapper or sentinel but was unable to find a power pool combination that I liked.  Something that I actually enjoyed playing but I just couldn't build anything that felt right as far as a mix of powers and they never "FELT?" right in general when playing them.  So I went Dark/Ninja Scrapper after seeing your post and it finally clicked for me.  I fully plan on making a Water/ or Dark/ Sentinel with /Ninjutsu.  But that's after I mission level my Scrapper to 50.  I am a new player btw and this will be my 1st character I will be "completing" the game with and it has been honestly the first combination I actually have fun with.
