Well, I got my Savage/Shield brute up to tier 4 incarnates, so it's time for a new brute.  I'm looking for feedback on this Katana/Fire brute that I made.  He's a blend of my two favourite characters from the original game - a fire/fire tanker and a katana/regen scrapper.  He's not intended as a farmer (since I find it really boring).  How does it look?  Divine Avalanche + Capped Melee defence seems redundant somehow? I hope I have the basic build theory correct:

    Ulun, thanks.  It looks like a couple people mentioned that issue with Crane Kick.  I've made that swap.  I also really appreciate your ideas on Power Sink (which I didn't understand).  I went with end mods from performance enhancer, so I could get a bit of extra run speed.

     

    Speaking of which, the reason I could do that is because I managed to get SK down to 1.67 seconds recharge.  This means that I can do SK>CK>SK>CAK.  There's a 0.15 second delay at the end, but that's tolerable.  I can also do SK>DT>CK>CAK for AoE damage.  This means that I can get rid of TK entirely.  I just hope that Infiltration is a tolerable travel power.

     

    Sovera, I like your ideas, but I think we just have a different philosophy.  I like to use my incarnates to plug holes and I want my resists for alpha strikes.  I found your slotting ideas really helpful, and stole a couple.  I'm now actually using Tough to make up the difference.

     

    Here's my updates.  It's pricey, but influence is no object for me.  If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.  Thanks everyone for your help.

  3. I'm working on a new Elec/MA tanker, Kick Bot, and this is what I've come up with so far.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I've managed to cap most resists, along with melee defence.  One thing to note is that this is an android specifically designed for kicking, so I only want kicking animations.

     

    I'm also wondering about attack chains for MA.  I've seen people suggest SK>CK>SK>CAK, and I'm really close to having enough recharge but I can't quite make it work.  I also think I've probably got my tanker purples in the wrong attacks, but that depends on the attack chain that I'm trying for.

Thanks!  I changed the mod in Active Defence.  I hadn't considered the stacking.  That's a great idea with the Hami O.  My issue is that I only have 3 resistance powers to work with, especially if I take Stealth (which I'm planning).  If I want to do a real revamp, the first step would be to swap a Gaussian set into Blood Thirst, which frees up a lot of slots, starting with the ones in Super Jump.  I definitely appreciate the ideas, including the idea of balancing my resists more.  I'll keep tweaking.

    Maybe shuffle 3 resist/health into One with the shield and just roll with it, god mode looking like Cappy A himself with the incarnate Rebirth Radial you got Regen numbers of Wolvy and half Invulnability of Supes in there.  I might steal this build and modify it for my scrappper just to have one character with a T9.

     

    Thank you for the ideas.  Numina's right now is providing both the last bit of ranged defence and the last bit of S/L resistance to reach cap.  I really haven't been able to find any way around it, but those are some interesting ideas.  I think it would be fun to try what you're saying with One with the Shield.  The resist buff definitely turns him into an unkillable beast for a while.  Since I don't really use it, I'm seriously considering Stealth, which would enable me to run to the glowy in missions.  I'm not sure though.

    Yep, you found it Corbie.  For some reason the Rebirth Incarnate was switched on.  Without it, my regen is 277%.  That actually answers your original question, too.  I use Rebirth for my on-demand heal, filling one of the biggest holes in the Shield set.  I hope that helps.

  6. Here is final build.  The character is now level 50 with most of his incarnates 3-slotted.  I made a few adjustments to get rid of Maneuvers, which was an endurance hog, and managed to keep most of what mattered to me.

     

    As ever, looking for suggestions.  I'm not super happy with 6-slotting Health, but at the end of the day, there really wasn't anywhere else to put anything.  I might drop One with the Shield, since I never use it:

    This is a slotting technique that I've picked up through tinkering that I really like.  It's for a defense power, and it uses up some of those pesky uniques so that you can save more slots, still maxes out defences on the power, and provides 3.75% smash/lethal resist without hitting the law of fives.

     

    I hope people find it helpful.  I 'm using battle agility as an example, but you can put it in any defence power:

  10. I have a question about some enhancements that "grant powers".  It seems like some give bonuses wherever they are slotted, but some only work with activation of a power.  Is this right?

     

    For which of the following would it matter if I put it in an active power or a passive power?

     

    1) Numina's +Regen/Recovery

    2) Panacaea's +Hit Points/Endurance

    3) Preventative Medicine's Chance for Absorb

    4) Phase Shifter's Chance for End

  11. Thanks!  Okay, so 45% was enough.  Phew - that would have been a lot of extra strain on the build!

     

    Yeah, I probably overdid it on the recharge.  The idea of the build is that I pounce around like crazy and wanted as much recharge as possible, but I don't really need as much as I gave myself.   I can't move the LotG off Deflection, since I need the defense, but I was able to "unmule" CJ a little bit.  I used it to get some more S/L resist (now 89.63% - so close!).  I also got in a Hecatomb to replace some of the lost recharge.  I put Hemorrhage in this version, but it could easily be replaced by Maiming Slash if I don't like it:

    I actually have a question about theory here.  I'm already at over 45% melee defence without more Deflection slots, which is why I chose to focus on the resistance in Deflection.  Is there a reason to go above 45%?

     

    Also, what attack rotation do you (or others) use?

  13. I've been working on this Savage Melee/Shield build.  I just love pouncing all over the place, and I enjoy brutes.

     

    I've virtually soft capped defences, as well as S/L resistance.  S/L resistance is capped (I think), but the Adjusted Targeting bonus is bugged and not showing.

     

    I don't really like the Mako's, and would like to get a Hecatomb in there somehow, but haven't figured it out.  I also wouldn't mind finding a couple slots for some more psionic resist.

  14. I get your frustration.  As a 17-year non-stone tanker, I remember you guys always getting preference for hard content.  There are advantages to having the best defence in the game, even if it's at a cost.
