Do you think it would be boring to a new player - or it was just because you had done it before?

It's probably because I've done it so, so many times before. I played from issue 5 - sunset, daily. I played on a certain other server for 6 years. I played here from the moment the doors opened. I've created nearly a thousand alts across that time, and have close to 100 level 50s here, at least a quarter of them kitted out and T3 incarnate, if not T4. Whenever I roll a new toon, I tend to bring in the farmer from my second account, as long as the server I play on isn't overloaded - I know the rules - and spend 40 - 45 minutes getting them to level 32. At the very least, level 22, which only takes around 10 - 15 minutes for me. After that, I craft and slot generic IOs at the appropriate level, and off I go!

What OMG!  I am an electric controller almost to the lvl to pick gremlins.  Are they not good?

They're not great but don't skip them. Electric control does awful damage and you'll need *something* to help you at least a little. My electric controller (50, and built) can lock down almost anything and keep it there. Can it damage anything, though? Not really. Even at +0 X8 with pre-patch Council, it would take me 5 - 8 minutes per mob because the damage wasn't there. I ended up buying a Backup Radio to help, and I tend to always keep that controller, as well as certain other toons, with a stack of them for additional help.

  3. Unless something majorly broke one of your existing builds, I wouldn't bother with a respec. Most of my built lvl 50s are okay, but my triple fire blaster, a toon that I could run at max settings before the drop, and who now can't run +1 without getting torn a new orifice... She will need a respec. I am not looking forward to it. I'm not sure I play her enough anymore to even bother.

  4. Lump me in with the others who now find Council too overpowered. Characters who nearly never wiped at settings like +3 X8 are now getting thrown around and demolished by these things at lower settings. Not all, but some. About the only one that didn't have trouble was my Bio/DM/Mu tanker. She used to speed through Council, and now a radio takes about half an hour because the bosses have become difficult, and I do mean difficult, to put down. And then they rez. Fun. Not really. I understand wanting a challenge, but I could have played against any other type of enemy and gotten that, on most characters. What's the go-to now if you still want big mobs yet something quick to steamroll? I play to relax not to be frustrated.

Edit: I ran a few more toons just now, as a test. These toons are built and are T3 incarnate. Staff/WP/Energy scrapper mowed down everything at +2 X8. Wolf transformation is very annoying. I have yet to stop a single baddie from transforming. Even once dead, oh, it's a wolf now. A triple fire blaster who used to decimate things on max settings, couldn't survive the opening volley of the first mob. I think I was dead in 5 seconds. Even lowered to +2 X8, I was having massive problems. I shouldn't be. I definitely wasn't before the patch. Savage/Rad/Energy Brute - T4 incarnate and kitted out. The bosses were extremely irritating. They took forever to put down at +2 and then pulled their "I'm gonna rez now!" thing.

Council are much worse for lower-level characters. Repeatedly wiped yesterday on my fire controller. It was like nothing could properly lock them down at all. It became a chain of Flashfire - fire cages - bonfire, and then cinders a few seconds later when everything wore off. They don't even bounce on Bonfire anymore, not much, anyway. One, maybe two bounces and they're off and running right for me. If they didn't do that, some boss would TP me straight into the middle of the mob and put me down in one to two hits. This was a lvl 43 fire controller on IO's at X4 +0. Bringing a teammate along only slightly helped yet made things more challenging. It still took forever and a day to get through a single radio. KB protection might as well be a joke now to these things, too.

In other words, it's a great day to:

    • do the laundry
    • start your homework
    • go grocery shopping
    • clean that friggin fridge out
    • play with the kids
    • go for a walk
    • earn some spouse points
    • take the dog for a walk
    • take the cat for a run drag (edited for accuracy)
    • turn to the left and login and work for once
    • Finally finish X on your streaming service of choice
    • Start the rewatch of Game of Thrones, Lost, The Boys, etc.. (again)
    • Finally check in some of that completed code at work that you've been nervous about sharing with others
    • Take the trash out!

I'm sure I'm missing something, but except for our lovely dev's I think today's a great day to give the game a break and do something else.

Already done, and folded and put away!

    I'm far past that age.

    Already done!

Did last week. Clean as a whistle.

    Don't have any.

Severe thunderstorm with way too much lightning. No.

    He's asleep and sick.

    Don't have one.

The cat is hiding under the couch in the front room because of the storm.

    Disabled and jobless.

I don't sub to streaming services and am caught up on everything I currently want to watch.

Never seen them and don't plan to.

    N/A

The bins were emptied last night and bin night isn't until next Wednesday.

While the above is the truth, the tone is meant to be lighthearted. tbh, with the way the storm is starting to rage, I'm likely to turn the PC off and go back to bed. It's 7:35 am in my part of the world.

I wonder how many players would voluntarily give up a name if contacted by a GM.

How many of you in this thread would?

It depends on the name. If it's a favorite, yeah, that won't be happening. A toon that I'm not really attached to, however, probably. It depends. Is it a name that I'm still super chuffed with, and I have plans for the character, for the not-so-distant future, or is it something that's barely into the double digits and I haven't touched it in more than a year? If it's the former, I'll probably still hang onto it, but if it's the latter, I likely won't mind giving it up in lieu of something else. I've given up names a time or two before.

So advocating for the adoption of a policy that stops people from hoarding names is an epic tantrum? You seem nice.

And you seem like a troll. Re-read your posts; you come across as an unstable man-child. You're having a fit over not being able to get the exact name you want in a video game. I'm perfectly pleasant, just not towards people who treat others like crap. These are names in a video game. No matter how much you kick, scream, rant, and rage, you're not going to get your way here; they aren't going to free up every single name of every single character not being played. The names of 50's will never be up for grabs, and anything 6 - 49 is safe for a year. It's what the policy is going to be. Get over it and move on.

We've all had names we want that have been taken, gotta get creative.

Exactly. Hell, this morning, I made another two toons with pretty nifty names, I think. I usually use thesaurus.com if I end up ridiculously stuck, but you know what else is often a good go-to? The names of things like candle scents and paint colors. Some of them would make fantastic character names, and many of them are already taken, I checked! There are plenty of methods and ways to name a character, and if it takes a while to think of something then so be it.

  9. I have literally hundreds of alts, I won't lie. All of them are above level 10. All of the names/toons I absolutely love are already at 50, built, and most are T3 incarnate at least. Despite the number of alts that I have, very few non-50s have super-awesome names that other people would clamor for. If I get a good name that I adore, I play it to 50.

  10. I deal with severe misophonia, and because of this debilitating issue that has the potential to put me in crisis, I've not had the game sounds on since live. Emp aura on auto makes me nauseated, and the dark controller pet, the wolf that constantly goes "bark, bark, bark!" every few seconds when idle, has come close to putting me into a full-blown panic attack. There are a few from the Sonic Blast set that trigger my miso similarly. When I'm feeling up to it, I'll try and fiddle with the sound files and see if I can't turn nix the more painful, bothersome noises for me.

  11. There is usually a central spot where groups gather to fight the spawns, which tend to only spawn in groups of players. in PI, for example, people tend to gather in the Portal Corp parking lot. In Talos, it's on the hill near the tram.

  12. I play on Excelsior and I've yet to get caught in a queue. I can log in without a problem. Meanwhile, my partner logs in a minute later and ends up in something like 20/80. Well, ladies first and all that, I guess! 😂

  13. I played from i4 - sunset on live, elsewhere for 6 years, and here since the game returned in 2019. Unless it's a brand new powerset that I'm using, and, atm, there is not, I get my alt account farmer if the server isn't 3 red dots and I farm the alt to 32. It takes about 40 minutes with a double XP booster. After that, I slot level 35 IOs and play the game. Lower levels, after so many years, and hundreds of alts, just aren't fun for me.
