Obviously the solution is to make the medic the commander unit in the squad. Nothing can go wrong with this plan.

He should also be the radio operator. There's not a tanker in the world who could pull aggro off of someone who combines all three jobs.

Reminds me... I need to move macros up in my priorities for relearning the game. So I can have all my mercs salute my MM while saying "Sniper check!"

Well, regarding thugs getting leadership and mercs not, I look at it like this:  As the gang leader, you rely upon your enforcers to backup your regular thugs and the bruiser.  As the leader of a group of mercenaries, you are the squad leader, and just order them around more directly.  I realize that a lot has to do with thugs coming later, and I certainly agree that mercs need some love, but both sets function quite differently...

I would counter that, from an RP perspective, it would make sense for the tier 3 pet to have Leadership, as second in command/ senior NCO.

I read the post subject and thought this was about David Hume. If 18th century Scottish philosophers are resurrected with superpowers, they should definitely be required to register with the authorities.

Hmmm. Socrates the Lich King, Necro/ Time MM where the pets are other dead philosophers.

Other than that, what I always wondered was why heroes without powers had to register.

On topic, I'll play dumb characters sometimes in fantasy games, but in games like CoH I'll stay at average of better intelligence, usually slightly above average unless the character calls for something more.

That's not to say a given character won't be foolish, naive, or ignorant of various aspects (at least to start), just not dumb.

  5. I think my favorite accusation of playing "wrong" was someone upset about my character name as it related to my powerset. It was funny enough I still remember it.

Character was a mind/ empathy controller. I wanted a pure support character, which my D&D group called "cheerleaders" because they sit on the sidelines and watch while the action takes place. So, I made the character a high school cheerleader in her costume and bio and called her "Spirit Girl".

Got a blind invite to a group, no questions about my powers, and we set off. I did my "cheering"... sleeps, holds, and healing, letting the jocks in the group show off their muscles (i.e., I left damage dealing to the damage dealers). I thought we were doing fine, and everybody got to show off what they did best. Then I got kicked from the group.

Apparently, according to the group leader, I was not only playing wrong but being outright deceitful by having a name with "Spirit" in it when I wasn't an Illusion controller.

  6. Just found out about this place, wish it hadn't taken so long... anyway, my "main" characters on Virtue were:

Heroes: MOUT, Spirit Girl, Emerald Avenger

    Villains: Lord Malkor, C517-SERE

if anyone used to do the redside Hami raids, I was the wise guy who would follow up the list of raid and team leaders with "and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver".
