  1. I want to go back to before Enhancement Diversification, perhaps all the way back to original release.  Just have TO's, DO's, and SO's and stack them however you'd like.  No set bonuses, you just maximized the powers that your primary and secondary had.  No AE missions.  Game was more fun in it's simplest form.

    Rooted

This came out of a discussion from another Tanker thread.

Rooted stays active as long as you are immobile. If you move the animation/effect drops but you get 4 seconds of residual (possibly weaker) mez protection and the ability to move at normal speed. If you stop within the 4 second period the animation/effect reappears and you are back to full mez protection as long as you remain immobile.

That would allow stone tankers to move around in a battle situation without fear of being "mezzed". A quick and dirty test puts that at roughly 40 yards with no debuffs to movement which is probably more than is needed in a battle situation and, depending on the proximity of groups on a mission, could possibly allow a stone tanker to move from group to group without having to drop Rooted.

    Build Up

This one occurred to me just after getting Build Up on my Inv/WM tanker.

Replace the +Self Damage with a +Max Targets effect that turns the first and second tier single target attacks into cone attacks for a brief period. This would make tanking easier at lower levels and effectively make soloing easier as you are able to briefly damage multiple targets.

Remove all penalties from the entire set (movement, damage, recharge).  Put 200% regen/recovery in rooted.  Change granite to a 1000s recharge.  Put in minimal fx on costume.  Then I might consider a stone tanker.

It is, in fact, EXACTLY like making the Mona Lisa in minecraft.

That actually sounds fun and I have attempted to recreate things in Minecraft.  Not sure why my post bothers you so much.  Don't worry, I won't be crippling any teams.  I have never had a max level character where it actually mattered anyhow.  I may eventually play CoH on God mode at some point, but right now I am just enjoying the nostalgia.

    But why?

It's like asking what sort of black-powder rifles you should buy for your modern military.

meh I guess someone's gotta replicate the Mona lisa using minecraft Blocks. Cannot say that I understand it though, especially since even vanilla content has been made more challenging since I5

Based on that logic, why play any character less than optimal.  Why doesn't everyone just play Fire/Kin Controllers.  I enjoy the challenge, although the game is actually pretty easy with SO's to be honest, I wouldn't want to make it any easier.  Plus, it's the game I remember, I left shortly after IO's came out.

For a new idea: Ice tank. I’m pretty sure you can softcap on SOs and its aggro control is phenomenal.  Energy absorption can also help shore up your blue bar.

I started an Ice/Spines tank yesterday.  Fun so far!

  6. I would say Fire, Dark, Electric, and Ice because they all have an AoE damage aura.  Out of those 4, I would choose Ice.  It can take the alpha the best out of those 4.  It will have the highest mitigation with a full group.  Then the -ToHit from DM will pair nicely with the defense of Ice.  Ice also has -rchg resistance, so you won't slow down hitting siphon life and most of all killing, although you won't be getting hit much anyhow with soft capped defense and -tohit, but those pesky Psionic hitting NPCs which slow recharge won't affect you much.
