  1. I tested this out with a remake of my toon which should have been made with a symphony control according to theme, but I settled with sonic attack. It was an emp/sonic defender, and on beta, I remade it as a symphony/emp controller. I have not played controllers very often, to be fair, so my experience/observations come from someone being drawn to the set not because I want to complete my experience with the controller playstyle, but because I had a theme idea which I loved, and was trying something new. I hope to see it go through!

    - The aesthetics of the set are great! I understand some are asking to add a non-music-note option, but if someone cared about theme that much, they should simply make a sonic toon, imo. The possibilities for toon themes with the set is only as limited as one's music culture knowledge.

    - The sfx are a little incongruent with the title of the set. I suppose according to your musical culture, the current sfx might be considered symphonic/harmonic, but considering we are working in a heavily western based setting, it would make more sense that the music sfx on "symphony control" would sound something like sound bytes from a symphonic performance, rather than the atonal siren calls. Much like the scene you referenced from Dr Strange - I see in your post you stated that this will be addressed; thank you.

    - Feels very smooth, animation wise, and while I've only run it in open areas (open zone, cimeroran cave mission maps) the cone mechanics come off just fine. One simply must position well, which I am used to doing while soloing speedruns on a blaster with minimal defenses. I imagine learning to position well with it should be considered a part of the skill curve to master the class/set.

    - My damage is actually about roughly the same between the older defender build and the new controller build, and considering the controller build I slapped together in 10 minutes was not proc'd out or optimized, that felt pretty nice.

    - The Reverberent pet seemed to get stuck even more than other pets I've used. I would have it summoned at the same time as my Banished Pantheon lore pets, and the lore pets would find their way back to me while I had to go back to pick up Reverb from around a corner.

  2. Repeatables had only one text error as far as I saw - the bosses in the "Defeat X and its coterie" mission I believe had a syntax error in their lines, and instead of saying a lot of chats, they would say two big chats, as shown in attached photo. This happened all three times I ran it.

    All missions applied incarnate shifts correctly except for the "Destroy the Shadow Crystals" where both times that I ran the mission enemies appeared two threat levels higher than the other missions.

    Edit: Oh, and I had shared this on the feedback for the Sister Valeria thread, but it would be nice if the "call" contact button for Sideris could say something else, since 'calling' would anachronistic.

  3. I'm soloing on my sonic/nature defender, and it's going very smoothly - feels like a very minor buff, I'm only doing slightly more damage than before with the same build, and I'm loving the toggle suppression quality of life changes as well. Maybe this belongs on the focused feedback for sonic changes, ha.

    But regarding the story arc itself, and the text therein - the following notes are ordered in my stream of consciousness as I played through, and have been edited upon second playthrough.

    Spoiler

    [Possible] Fixes + Observations:

    - Completion return text for Valeria's first mission contains this phrase, which feels redundant, perhaps use a word different than "moment" for one of these:

     "He was once a proud, noble man, and now it seems that he only remembered that in a moment of clarity during his final moments."

    - Mission environmental additions are clever, pointing out as I spot the stalagmite placed below a drip water effect.

    - Beautiful new map on the second map. However, clipping looks funny if you fly up towards the top of the open sky, and you can see some weird structures above the caves. I doubt it can be fixed without adjusting the carefully constructed map already, and it's the kind of clipping that any player familiar with the game would be used to, so this would be low on the priority list of adjustments.

    - Helot of Darkness description contains "unbelieveable" correct sp: unbelievable

    - Perioeci of Twilight description is a single sentence with many clauses, perhaps break into several separate sentences for more clarity.

    - Might it be possible to enable a different text for Valeria's contact 'call' button (since she is certainly not using cell phones in Cimerora)? I know this has been changed elsewhere before, but don't know if it's easy to adjust.

    - It's nice to see the return of disguised missions, as I don't recall seeing these in high level content, besides the Praetorian solo story missions.

    - Unfortunately, it is annoying that when my disguise breaks in dialogue with the protector of flames (probably incorrect name), all my toggles were turned off despite entering the mission with them on. I went straight into the battle solo with no defenses. Might it be possible to implement the new toggle suppression as a part of the disguise power? This is the most annoying thing I encountered, which is to say, there are very few quality of life changes needed.

    - The summary clue was incomplete right before entering the last mission, picture included below. Upon second run of the arc, the description is correct upon entering the third mission, and must be merely mistyped in the summary displayed from before entering the last mission until completion of the arc.

    - Sister Valeria did not follow me through the door to the last 2 sections of the last mission. Is this intentional?

    - LOVE the extra lore on the nova and dwarf forms in the descriptions!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Final Thoughts:
    - Overall, an intriguing story arc, I very much appreciate the extra background and characterization of both the nictus [which desperately needed fleshed out since the Moonfire TF] and the history of politics in Cimerora.
    - Sister Valeria is an affable zealot, and her revulsion to the nictus brought me a scare when in the last mission. She was attacked by a nictus form looking for a host, and temporarily appeared to have the nictus glowing effects on eyes and body... it would be terrible were she to be possessed on my watch! But I realized it must have been an effect from the hold power as was described in the patch notes about the new difficulty changes to the Imperious TF. I do not know if it is intentionally a change to all Cimeroran nictus and is supposed to appear outside of the ITF, but is a cool mechanic regardless, I think.
    - Long story note: Upon second run-through, I am a little puzzled about the meaning of the dialogue between Lilia and the crystal in the second mission.
    Functionally, it does not seem to be followed up with conclusion, besides that it introduced the sinister priestess to the story. She is clearly nictus, obsessed with knowledge ("Ah, the irresistible temptation of future knowledge. There's nothing else quite like it."). But does the identity of the crystal matter? Why did she ask if they knew each other ("You feel familiar, but changed. Did we know each other?")? Did it matter that the crystal sounded like it made a human laughing sound ("The faint sounds of laughter and anguish emanate from the crystal.")? That thread seems to be dropped, and I don't know if I'm missing something really obvious, or if it just didn't really matter.
    Thinking about it more, maybe something to do with the first line, "It is as he said. A combination of heat, minerals, and a well-timed death..." I might infer after completion of the arc that Dorjan is the "he," which would have give knowledge... but what was the well-timed death... is it because Romulus is in the crystal? It's said in Lilia's description later that she may have been courted by Romulus, so that is why they would know each other? If so, it feels like the defeat of the crystal in that mission being a representation of defeating the last of Romulus' nictus life essence was unclear.
  4. The First Ever Public Amazing Race was a success!
    Participants engaged in salvage trades to earn new clues, and went through zones in Paragon and the Rogue Isles to solve them!
    First Place: @Legion of the Elite (Beginning of the End) won 900 million influence!
    Second Place: @Blunder (Worbly Bones) won 900 million influence!
    Third Place: @Kendai (Hydro-Power) & @RufusPentecost (Hobotech) won 650 million influence!
    The next Amazing Race may happen later this year, stay tuned!
    Thank you to all who participated, and to all the Cosmic Council SG members that assisted with the event, we couldn't have done it without you.
    ---------------------------------------------------
    I'll list the clues below, with their solutions hidden, in case anyone wants to follow along and try doing the Amazing Race for themselves!
    First Clue:
    “Originally leading the Omega team, my fate remains unknown.
    Seek my memorial in the zone where your levels first grow.”
    Spoiler
    Hero 1 led the Omega Team, and his memorial is accessible through the door the the left as soon as you enter Atlas Park City Hall. The clue-giver was waiting in that room to give the second clue.
    Second Clue:
    “There is a Plaque on Atlas’ South War Wall.
    It will lead you to your next location, as I recall.”
    Spoiler
    The plaque reads:
    "On October 31, 2004, a creature known as Eochai was defeated on this spot. Although the creature and its minions were thought to be vanquished by Paragon City's heroes, it appears they have simply relocated. The northern village of Salamanca is beset by the creatures and is in grave need of heroic assistance."
    Which can lead to the neighborhood marker of Salamanca in Croatoa. The clue-giver was waiting there to give the third clue.
    Third Clue:
    “This pier is famous, you’ll see it on your way in.
    Parents might do it to kids if they’re not listening!”
    Spoiler
    The clue giver was waiting under a sign on Spanky's Boardwalk - which is on display on the loading screen for Talos Island. After trading salvage, they would then give the fourth clue.
    Fourth Clue:
    “Melissa and Mike got in for free!
    It's not your Fault, come and C!”
    Spoiler
    Fault - Faultline, C - Frieight Lift C, Melissa and Mike are in the Cryptic Lounge which is hidden underneath Freight Lift C in Faultline. The clue-giver was waiting in the lounge room to give the fifth clue.
    Fifth Clue:
    “Frost in the hollow of night, Fire in the darkest of treason,
    Some will oftentimes say, there is a Flux in the Four Seasons.”
    Spoiler
    Frost + Fire = Frostfire. The Frostfire's contact is Flux; he is located in the Four Seasons neighborhood in the Hollows. The clue-giver was waiting next the Flux to give the sixth clue.
    Sixth Clue:
    “A warm fire and enough candy to make your mouth sore,
    visit this Candy Keeper for gifts galore.”
    Spoiler
    The Candy Keeper is the contact in the Ski Chalet in Pocket D, which has a fireplace at its center. The clue-giver was waiting next to the fireplace to give the seventh clue.
    Seventh Clue:
    “Go to the tip of Lord Recluse’s highest tower before time runs out!
    Switch your alignment to VILLAIN before you go about.”
    Spoiler
    The participants would go to Pocket D's Null the Gull to switch to villainside before going to Grandville and flying to the tip of the tower in the middle of the zone, where the clue giver would be waiting to give the eighth and final clue.
    Eighth Clue:
    "In the den of the devil, you're given a test. To show you are true, you must impress.
    To the 4 patrons of Recluse, will flock millions, but they only see those who are pure villains"
    Spoiler
    "Den of the Devil" - refers to the translation of Cap Au Diable, which means Devil's Cape. "Given a test" - refers to the way a Crucible is meant to purify. "To the four patrons of Recluse" - this was a red herring, which would make many think of the four patrons in Grandville, but it is referring to the four patrons in the Crucible, because "they only see those who are pure villains" - the Crucible is the only zone in the game which one must be a full Villain to enter, much like one must be a hero to enter Fort Trident in Atlas Park. The final person in clue-giver costume was waiting in the little Crucible zone to award prizes to the finishers!
  5. If you love City of Heroes lore and you love races, we have got the event for you!
    🏁🚩The Amazing Race: CoH Edition will take place on New Year's Day at 8:00pm ET!🚩🏁
    With over 5 BILLION INFLUENCE to give away, EVERYONE who finishes the race in under an hour will walk away with prizes!
    The first 3 finishing teams will earn 500 million influence in addition to the prizes awarded according to finishing time.
    Finishing in under:
    15 minutes - earns the team 500 MILLION INF
    25 minutes - earns the team 400 MILLION INF
    35 minutes - earns the team 350 MILLION INF
    45 minutes - earns the team 250 MILLION INF
    60 minutes - earns the team 150 MILLION INF
    How It Works:
    The Amazing Race is a Trivia Scavenger Hunt event for teams of no more than 5 people - prizes will be the same regardless of team size. So if you think you can do this by yourself, and you'd rather have the influence all to yourself, that could be a good strategy. Meet in Kallisti Wharf near the Statesman statue. Discord is NOT required.
    There will be clues to solve, so be ready to put on your thinking caps! You will be able to use all resources at your disposal, so go ahead and use google searches, travel powers, and LFG queues to your advantage. Just don't share your answers/solutions! Any teams who attempt to share or give away clues will be immediately disqualified.
    Specific details about the Amazing Race event will be kept secret until the instructions are given out just before it begins. The hour-long event timer will begin roughly ten minutes after the scheduled start time, 8:00pm ET. That should give enough time for any questions and clarifications.
                                                                                                   ---------
    We are so excited to host a new and fun event for the lore-lovers out there; hope to see you there!👋
  6. I was speed phased when queueing up for DFB as team lead, and when I was exempt down to level two upon entering the trial, speed phase remained active. I could not toggle it off, because I did not have super speed available as a power yet. Therefore, I couldn't damage the mobs unless being damaged; it was an uneventful run for me.
    Thankfully, I was on a full team and it was completed successfully; speed phase was still toggled on when I exited the trial and returned to level 50. I'm sure the bug is quite simple to replicate, and hopefully a simple fix.
    Thanks in advance to whoever reads and addresses the issue.
  7. Bug (or just correction?): The progress bar for Master of Aeon Strike Force under "closest to completion" section of badge list currently has the badge description text of the Best Friends Forever badge.
    I know it was not a progress bar for Best Friends Forever because I already had that badge when I noticed this issue; apologies, I can't take a screenshot because since deciding to report, I obtained the Master of badge.
  8. I've ran twice now, first time on easy, taking our time reading all the contact dialogue and such, second time on Relentless, going as fast as fighting through would allow, and abusing teleport towards the end.
    By the end, once you've realized how long you've been at it, it is quite a time suck. But I didn't realize it while I was paying attention to that story! I couldn't think of a single bit of it that I would want to come out. I love the storytelling and development, it is worthy of the complicated characters and the universe.
    Spoiler
    I get a better sense of who Aeon is, who Midas is, and I am excited to see where Princess Zoe and Rodney end up. Teared up a bit when Midas sent Rodney off to protect Zoe. Arachnos, Crey, Goldbrickers, 5th Column, Devouring Earth, and Vanguard all weaved together in one arc, yes please! And it may be cliche, but I love the incorporation of world-bending that goes along with alternate dimensions into the maps. Thank you so much for the work and time you put into this story, it is not only mechanically, but story-wise, the best SF in the game.
    The mechanics feel like they are there to support the story, and not the other way around. Even so, they are some of the coolest mechanics yet. Some will gripe about them being too hard, but that's why there's difficulty levels, right? So, overall feel is VERY enjoyable for the lore hounds, and they will walk away tired, but fulfilled. Those who do not care about the lore drops may find themselves just tired, but there are merit rewards in place for them. Whether they decide it's worth it will be up to personal taste.
    TL;DR - You could maybe make it shorter, but don't take out any of the story please 🙂
  10. Hi there!
    Here's my submission for the AE Contest!
    Arc ID: 34783
    Arc Name: Winter's on Holiday
    Author: @GoldenStriker2
    Number of Missions: 3
    Description: A desperate college student grabs your attention... he wants help finding his date who has gone missing right before the Holiday family dinner.
    Screenshot (19).png
    Screenshot (20).png
  11. This is a small, specific request with lots of complications to work through, but I love the idea of keeping it a "level-less" zone.
    (as mentioned by Sakura Tenshi in a previous post, which I'm not sure how to quote in here).
    - Maybe it's just because I've developed an emotional attachment to the huge costume contests we have in there, but it's fun to have a place where all can come and roam for fun.
    - Don't know what that may mean for creating zone content, but it could keep it open to many different contacts, tfs, etc. that could include a large range of levels. More stories = ❤️
    - Would be most ideal for people who want to play the game through for content, rather than those that want more endgame trials. I am personally of the former (surprise, surprise 😛)
    Another one, just for fun: Take some of the legendary AE story arcs, hall-of-famers, and make them "real" in KW!
